GE14 | Perak PAS today met BN and Pakatan Harapan leaders unofficially and told them that the party will not stop its struggles, including the move to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, or Act 355.

The state PAS leaders held the meetings tonight at Impiana Hotel in Ipoh to discuss the forming of the state government with the two coalitions.

Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria said the main condition to cooperate with PAS is that the two coalitions can't oppose or deny the party's struggle on Islamic issues.

"Can't stop our fight, just like when we were blocked before. We can't even get the support to table Act 355. That (Islamic struggle) is our goal," he told the media before the meeting.

Asked about DAP which did not support Act 355, Razman said PAS will look into it.

"They opposed against us clearly, they did not find the solutions. They said no, this agenda will not be discussed. This is an insult to us," he said.

Expected to form gov't within one week

Razman also said the state government is expected to be formed within one week.

State PAS leaders will discuss with the party leadership tomorrow, he added.

"Only the party that gets the mandate from people can meet the sultan to form the government.

"Now we are still waiting. There are many possibilities. We have not decided yet," he said.

Meanwhile, Perak Umno deputy chairperson Saarani Mohamad said there may be some "good news" tomorrow.

He said the meeting between BN and PAS has been positive but no decision yet.

"The most important thing is the welfare of the people of Perak," he told media.

On Act 355, Saarani said the issue was not discussed.

"Act 355 is a national issue, not a state issue," he added.

Saarani, however, said one week is too long to form the state government, adding that it may affect the stability in the state.

"It may influence the foreign investments in Perak. Muslims will start fasting next week, therefore, we need to form state government as soon as possible," he added.
