Network Switch DGS1016D Unable To Read LinkStation

May I try to seek for assistance in regard to setting up DLINK DGS-1016D network switch. To summarize:

1. It's unable to detect Buffalo LinkStation, no LED light when connected.

2. Buffalo LinkStation works perfectly okay when I try connecting it to other network switch (just plug & play).

3. Port 1 connected to router (amber light), believe that this light denotes the established connection is at 10/100Mbps.

4. Port 2 to Port 5 connected to computers (green light), believe this is just to denote the established connection is at 1000Mbps.

5. Without enabling Port Isolation, I have the Buffalo LinkStation connected to Port 6 - this doesn't work.

6. Without enabling Port Isolation, I have the Buffalo LinkStation connected to Port 16 - this doesn't work.

7. I have also tried enabling the Port Isolation switch and use Port 16 for the Buffalo LinkStation - doesn't work too.

8. I have spoken to DLINK technical support but was told the issue is with Buffalo LinkStation.

May I seek for some troubleshooting advice? Thanks a lot in advance.

Used Volkswagen Passat CC Discussion

Dear all, would like to seek for some advice in regard to VW Passat CC 2.0.

I am planning to get a used ~5-year old VW Passat CC and realized it's easily below RM 80k. This seems to be a huge depreciation from brand new.

1.] Do you guys happen to know if majority of the Passat CC and Passat parts are interchangeable?
2.] Disregard the engine performance, if I were to compare between Passat CC and Passat, I notice a price difference of only ~ RM10k for a ~5-year old car, does it make sense if I should just head for Passat CC? It looks so much better to me.
3.] Anything else that I should worry about or consider?
4.] Higher maintenance when it comes to Passat CC as compared to Passat?

I do not know anything about engine performance and just thought if you guys could enlighten me, any tiny bits of inputs would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Used BMW E46 Weekend Car

What are your thoughts? I have always heard scary-statements from people, telling me that maintenance of any BMW is super high, where you pay very much for parts, service and etc. I don't know what "very much" here means though.

May I get some advice? I own a Waja, Myvi and a City. So if someone here has an idea of how much difference in terms of ... say a typical service of Waja/Myvi/City vs BMW E46, it will be very much appreciated.

If someone has an idea of the typical problems which I need to take note in E46, kindly share too

Sorry if I can actually find these answers by googling it, hope you don't mind sharing your views and lets have a discussion here. Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

I am already planning to send my car for service this weekend but it is kinda bothering me and I just thought of asking for your opinions on this:

My car exceeded the service mileage by 3000km and I wonder how bad will this do to my car/engine. I always use fully synthetic and this is my first time exceeding. Suppose to service at 61000km but it's now almost 64000km.

Your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Microphone Port Not Working

Hi All,

I wonder if there is a way for me to check if the microphone port is working. The port is attached to the motherboard and I have tried using a working microphone (tried the mic on another computer and it's working fine) but it fails to work well. I have tried with a total of 4 working mic but it does not seem to work in this particular computer.

Is there away where we can have the ports replaced? It seems to be attached to the motherboard, I think by changing the motherboard just because of a faulty mic ports seems to be a little.....urm.....weird?

Any advice is very much appreciated in advance.

Acer 4021 Notebook Driver

Hi Guys,

Need some advice here. We're trying to format a notebook and we no longer have the driver CD. Hence, I'm trying to download from the Acer website, I found it but I would like to ask if those drivers could be use? I'm just concern that...what if we have the drivers downloaded from there and thinking that we are ready to format the notebook but we were wrong and come across error/corrupted files. Sorry, I know I may sound silly asking such things but every single opinion by you guys is very much appreciated in advance.

I have never downloaded such drivers from Acer's site before and wonder if any of you guys out there has such experience in using those drivers downloaded from Acer's website. Just a thought of asking the great lowyat members here before I ask Acer folks.

Thanks in advance...

Router Locked?

Hi guys,

Need your guidance to understand this. Is there a possibility where the router's configuration change by itself (got locked or something), stopping all other PCs connected to the router not being able to connect to the internet?

I'm having this problem and it seems that I can only get connected to the internet if I were to directly use the modem but not through the router.

The router seems to be alright as TMNet has helped to check my connection when I was trying to connect to the internet through the router. I can actually see that all PCs are connected (it shows that "Local Area Connection" is connected). TMNet folks helped to check and they confirmed I am connected but I couldn't browse if I were to use the router.

Any advice to re-configure the router again or something? It was not configured by me, so I'm not sure how
Thanks a lot in advance...

TS16949 Standards, is it just a matter of - the importance of fullfilling and understanding the customers' expectations.

If I remember correctly, I came across some slides stating that TS16949 Standards is about - "quality system standards" plus "customer requirements". Do you think it's possible for you guys to .. urm ... give some advice or explain a lil about quality system standards?

I just couldn't catch this...Thanks a lot in advance for sharing...

Absorbers for Iswara

Hi All,

Briefly, I'm a newbie in this forum as well newbie in automobiles. Hope you guys don't mind advising me on the following:

I drive a 14 year old Iswara and I'm happy with the condition of the car except the following:

I hate the sound which I'm hearing whenever I drive over rough surface (road) or couldn't avoid a pothole. I'm sorry I do not know how to explain the sound but I will try my best here. For instance, driving a Myvi over a rough surface, it seems to be very "quiet", only hearing "bmmm...bmmm". Whereas driving my Iswara over the same rough surface, it's very noisy from the inside of the car. It's like, the absorber is very hard / stiff / spoiled? I'm hearing "boink...bom..bom".

Anyway, I have friends who have been telling me that it's the lousy body of Iswara and I can't do anything about it, is this true? Also, I have friends who tells me that my Iswara does not use MacPherson absorbers (I'm not sure what is that ) and that is the reason of the noisy/irritating sound whenever I driver over rough surface.

Do you guys mind advising if it's true that the noisy/irritating sound whenever I drive over a rough surface is due to body of Iswara or the absorber which I'm using?

Also, can you all advise if I were to go for a new set of stiff/firm absorbers and slightly lower down my car a little, maybe by an inch) with a tight budget of RM1500, which set should I or can I go for? (brand and any recommended workshop to get it done?)

Thanks a million in advance. Kindly advise if I missed out any important information which stops you guys from advising me.

Toe Nails Turned Black or Dark Red

Hi All,

Recently, my toe tails turned black or dark red after hiking a mount lately. I forgotten to cut my toe nails before this hike (usually I do) and on the way down from the mount, a fast hike down the mount has caused my toe nails to constantly support or slows down the momentum. Hence, the toe nails are black or dark red now

I do feel the pain but after 2 weeks, which is now, I don't feel any pain anymore, it's just that they look black or dark red to me. I have not consulted any doctors actually...was just wondering if I can seek for some advice here.

Thanks in advance.

Unable to connect to Streamyx with Aztech USB

Hi All,

Help needed to understand this:

Basically, I signed up for a RM66 package Streamyx and has been using it for quite sometime. It was irritating enough in the first place as I'll need to dial-in in order to get connected to Streamyx and the connection often breaks. After checking with the TMNet, I was told that it's because of the modem which I'm using, the modem has two ports, one to the phone line and another to the CPU (USB connector).

a.) I was told that such modems will not be able to self dial-in and I'll need to get those which has it's own adapter to the power supply (those with 3 LEDs), mine only comes with 2 LEDs (with the label Link and Power). IS he right?

b.) Recently, I can't dial-in at all My network connection exists, there is no error message, no nothing, I just fail to dial-in.

<s>Fool here needs help,</s> thanks in advance.

You're not a fool, -Altie
