Hello and greeting from UbuCon Asia teams! Please excuse us for any cross-posting 😊

Introduction
=============
UbuCon Asia is an event organized by Ubuntu Communities in Asia. It’s for everyone who involved with or interested in Ubuntu, Linux and other Free and Open source technologies. It is also a place for Ubuntu people from Asia to connect, learn, and share their knowlegdes each other.

UbuCon Asia 2022 will be the first In-person UbuCon Asia event and this year it will be hold at Nuritkum Square (Nuri Dream Square) in Seoul, South Korea.

Call for Proposal

The Ubuntu Conference Asia 2022 aka UbuCon Asia 2022 is the technical and social forum platform that allows various groups within asia a chance to come together, connect, and share their work related to Ubuntu.

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting proposals for contributions to this year’s Ubuntu Asia conference!

UbuCon Asia 2022 will be held at Nuritkum Square, Seoul, South Korea and will be broadcast live on the Internet where possible. Videos of the talks will be published on the web along with the presentation slides and papers.

The proposal will lets us know in advance what sort of talks we will have. This helps us in attracting affiliates, developers and potential sponsors to the conference. Your proposal should also include some information on why you’re qualified to talk about this.

Saw ex-gratia on payslip. How it counted? Do it depend on specific formula or table (like EPF) ? or it up to employer to decide.

Hello!

I created IRC channel #opensource-malaysia on libera.chat (which is run by a Swedish non-profit organisation), you may access it via IRC or MATRIX (both bridged each others).

Honestly more suggesting you to use matrix client because of:
- if you are disconnect, you still can see the previous msg, it work like IRC bouncer.
- no need to get cloak, it cloaked for you (if you going to use irc, don,t worry because libera can give you free cloak)
- you can quote msg, send file, send image, send emoji easier
- no need to use IRC port range (some place blocked this ports range)
- more to add, but i let you explore it

I wondering, do employer need to bear the cost of treatment if worker get infection during working?
like worker X are instructed go to Kemboja for business trip. He take swab test before go and negetif
He go to kemboja then a) get infected there or b) get infected during come back..

- must have:

This is the community that acknowledge and have good potential to become SIG of OSS in Malaysia.
But lately is become inactive

G+ is full of scam and money gambling stuff. Luckily, Google Plus is closing soon

No blog updates. I think it set up just for Malaysia Open Source Conference (MOSC MY) on 2017

Can we improve this OSS community?
Yes we can but it need passion and curiousity

firstly, main website must be useful and updated. I believe, someone from MYOSS / OSDC can open public git for web theme etc.

secondly, if paid server use are too much and not fully use then, move to static website such as Jeklly. Integration with github or gitlab (nice for PR). Just need to manage domain name.

third, if you got extra server. Please host IRC-telegram bridge

Last not least, I hope some OSS otai read this thread and do some comeback. I will try to contribute and support the community

Search string inside multiple *.gz files on AIX

Hi LYN, I am not much fimiliar with AIX. I trying to check some log which already compressed into gz.

Normally on linux, I will use something like this and pipe to grep the files

but it does't work on AIX

I actually more to php stack but recently maintaining java project. It an old legacy desktop application (java 1.6). I would like to extend my knowledge with java web stack. Donno where to start and what should I use.. but I heard spring is the hottest java web stack (Am I right?).

Management scam about bond contract ?

I keep it short, my pals on probation period for 6 month and get bond on the 2nd month for bonded 3 year.

Bond are includes 1 overseas training )100 EUR x 30 days), 1 month accommodation during overseas training, flight ticket return and back during training, and advance petty cash around RM4K.

She already know since March that training slot are opening on July , but his superior said "just ignore".. later, on the end on jun just 3 day before training, She got email that said

So last minute booking flight ticket and accommodation cost so much to her on her bond contract. Since our RM falling down and EUR are so high at that time.

She on training right now, but the training was so lack.. instructor are useless and don't answer her question. She doubt, if it this training are paid or free. Other region hub such US, China and Arab also join the training and don't get bond. Only malaysian get bond from her local HR (Malaysia Hub).

Total cost of bond are RM39K + 3 years.

Now, it sound like a scam. She already sign the contract.. she worried, when she return to MY, she unable to do the jobs since the training are not helpful. In other hand, the bond are ridiculous to me.

Plus if she go another training trip, she will get another 3 years bond extended.. So it like +3 years for each training

Any advice for her?

Does anyone has experience with Jekyll ? It is a serve static weblog based on gems (ruby) and git as version control. I have one, it awesome and fast!
