Please refer to the following website first: http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/vista.htm

If chances are the boot sequence and master is gone (let's say due to installation of other OSes and i cannot use the F8 function anymore to go into repair mode), how do i invoke or use dell factory recovery if the RECOVERY partition is still intact? Can i use Dos command or ImageX? And how so?

I tried using the Windows Vista DVD to boot in, but the option Restore Original Factory Image option is gone. Is it so if i reinstall a fresh copy of Windows Vista, and then i can get back the option 'Restore Original Factory Image' in the Repair/Safe Mode later?

Thanks for the help, hope Dell users out there can help. No point calling the Dell technician as they wont say or teach!
Hi there PC Gurus,

To all inspirion 1420 dell laptop owners, you would usually find an easy way to get a fresh copy of the windows vista by reverting back using dell original factory restore function at boot.

Now the question is, if i were to upgrade the Windows Vista to Windows 7, can i still have the function of reverting back to windows vista at boot via dell original factory restore? I am asking such as i dont want to tamper the dell factory image as it is such a life-saver!

For those who have installed windows 7 on their dell inspiron 1420, try to call up the restore factory function at boot and tell me the result.

MANY THANKS!

It's abit complicated, but hopefully bits and pieces of info can tie up the way. Thanks

Hello to all net-working gurus,

Please advice the best possible way to filter websites easily. Any software to load at server or router level? i think keying in url one by one is quite tough as it is much better to have a predefined list or template for url blocks.

Thanks
