Hi all, I live in a double storey house with thick walls. Room gaming rig is in second floor, at the back, while the router is located at the ground floor living room.

The house is rented, so any significant wiring works is a no-no according to landlord.

Tried to connect to TM's DIR-850L router through the 5Ghz band but its total crap, and buying a new router seems pretty uncertain

I am now considering to install a powerline network adapter with the other end on my room's power socket, and connect it to my PC via ethernet.

Is it feasible to run a powerline adapter to my room using an electrical this old? And what speed should I buy for a VIP100 package?

EDIT: Also, I have cats. Layring ethernet cables in the ground is chew toy.
