I've got a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz HT socket 775. the stock hsf did not spin during post and the mobo is buzzing out the warning. tot the hsf fan malfunctioned and bought another ori stock hsf. same problem... the new fan didnt spin. checked and confirmed the 4-pin has been secured, and all the power connections to mobo are nicely connected.

i got no choice now but to power the hsf fan using a molex converter direct from psu.
is it something wrong with the mobo? it's kinda kuku where the current setup will set the hsf fan spin and max speed and i cant monitor the fan speed.

what could be the problem? mobo is a Gigabyte 8I945GZME.

Thanks.

Process & Procedure of engine transplant

Hi All,

my ceffy is doing engine transplant and will be ready soon. from what i heard from frenz, the process of changing engine seems to be more tedious compared to few years ago. besides kastam paper and receipt from chopshop, now they require a endorsement of certify true copy of "dunno what paper" (i forgot).

Oh, and did i tell you that the authorities are charging rm300 for that endorsement per visit? so what the chopshop guys do is they'll collect a few dozens of purchases, then only send for endorsement, as it's charged per visit. Some who are lucky waited for 2 weeks; others waited for 2 months for that piece of sheet. The result? Customer's car will be stranded at the workshop and it feels like eternity waiting for that sheet.

Okay, with the sheets of paper at hand (total 3 papers from chopshop; receipt, kastam paper, and the other one i just mentioned above), i can go for inspection right? WRONG! Welcome to Malaysia..... there's another new process (that you need to pay, of course) needs to be applied before inspection can be done.

Owner is required to go to Putrajaya and seek approval before car can be sent for inspection. this is where im currently at, and yet i havent got a clue what should i do and how much would it cost me, and not to mention how long do i have to wait (again) before getting approval. asks a few of my frenz and their waiting experience varies between 1 day to 2 months.

What is going on here? if i apply the worst case scenario, it'll take me 4 months just to change the engine. 4 blardy months!!! imagine your car parked at home, but you cannot drive it for 4 months, how would you feel?

I tried to verify the above but there's no official documentation on the guideline listed in the JPJ. very efficient i would say, such complex process were not documented nor published and expects everyone to comply.

just to share, not sure its true or not.

QUOTE

we have absolutely no idea how valid these results are. Yet there are some results floating on the web showing regarding ATI's upcoming ATI HD 4870 512MB ATI HD 4870 versus the 1GB GeForce 9800 GX2. Included are Crysis and 3DMark06 results.

Let me state that anyone can make this stuff up and re-produce some nice charts.
IFX-14 Lapped vs unlapped

Hi Guys,
This will be my first time writing a review. Comments/critics are welcome.
(mods pls merge the thread if it's inappropriate to stand by itself)

I've noticed that the IFX-14 performs worse than my BTVX . Posted a query in lyn click here (post 322) and query about the performance. Take note of the date of post and the load temp on IFX, that was the recorded temp on freshly applied AS5. After making good use of the WWW, I concluded that the culprit was the uneven base. I decided to give my IFX a handjob (lap).

7 different grades of sandpaper is used. 240, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 & 2000 grit. Here's the specs and app used to compare the results of lapped vs unlapped;

Processor
Intel Q6600 G0 L734Bxxx
333mhz x 9 @ 1.30vcore (pencil-ed, no vdroop)

Apps used
Stress Prime 2004 v0.40.95.13 @ Small FFTs - stress CPU, Priority 1
Speedfan v4.32
Everest Ultimate v4.00.976
RivaTuner v2.06

Below are the items used for the lapping;
Coffee table used as flat glass
Half cup of dish detergent mixed with water + straw
1 x optimus prime (optional)
7 grades of sandpaper (as above)
Wifey's nail polish remover
AS5

Those are not beers, it's dish detergent + water used to smoothen the friction during lap

After I removed the IFX from the mobo, the way of the paste spreaded was expected; least concentration of paste at the center and swept to the sides.

A closer look at the paste effect from unlapped IFX.

This is how the paste effect from the IFX base after removed from mobo. Noticed that the base too has a thinner concentration at the center.

After removing the paste using the nail polish remover. He's planning to rent a house there and move in with his family.
I remember last time there's been hot topics about keeping dogs in Shah Alam, and i remember the papers says that MPSA has stated that they will not be tolerant to those who owns more than 1 dog per household, esp in linked houses.

Does this rule really took effect? Thx

oh, i forgot to add, my fren has got 3 dogs. 2 toy dogs and 1 medium size dog.

During his opening keynote, Intel's CEO Paul Otellini held up a 300mm wafer that contains working chips based on the 32nm process technology. Expected to begin production in only 2009, the new 32nm chips will be built based on the upcoming Nehalem architecture and will feature the second-generation of the high-k metal gate transistor technology. Each processor is said to house more than 1.9 billion transistors.

The "tick" version of this 32nm CPU in 2009 will be called Westmere, while its "tock" upgrade, expected in 2010, is named Sandy Bridge. In the slides shown, Intel anticipates that chips based on the next-generation 22nm manufacturing process will be out only in 2011.

Source: http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/pcperipherals...2423-4,00.htm#5

Buying factory OC gfx = waste money?

Been reading slizone and was surprised to see that the officials of SLI Zone claimed that it's a waste of money paying extra for factory pre-oc cards.

As we all know, alot of manufactures tries to stand out from each other when it comes to selling their "value-for-money" products. Increased clocks, redesign cooler (and even partnership with renown cooling specialists), longer warranty, 90-days step up program, gold plated DVI connectors are some of the examples the manufactures do to outshine their competitors.

As most of us are interested in performance rather than anything else, do you think it's worth paying a little extra for the pre-oc cards, or, rather buy the reference speed cards and OC it yourself?
Guys,
recently i've been experiencing windows lock up and even BSOD when first load into windows. This will happen everytime it tries to load smartdoc.

I've disabled OC and also tried newer version from Asus, the problem still persist. I cant afford to uninstall Smartdoc either, as it can really keep my gfx cool.

Anyone of you are experiencing similar problem? im using 8800 GTS 320

Gfx - Stock speed outperforms OC speed

Hey guys,

I'm a bit puzzled here and would like to seek help from you experts.

I was using Vista Ultimate when I purchase a GeForce 7900GS 540/700 stock.
RivaTuner shows that it's running 80% fan speed and idle at 41C. (FYI, Vista's AERO activates 3d performance even in idle Windows).

Fast forward till today, I'm using XP due to some licensing issues with Vista. RivaTuner shows 20% fan speed and temp is 50C. Messing around with fan speed from RT doesnt seem to work. When loading 3d graphics, fan speed will increse to 80% automatically. I have totally zero control over the fan speed. Is it a product defect or what?

Then, I increased the speed to 565/730 and ran 3dMark06. I was experiencing laggy screens (like the screen will freeze for a second before continues) throughout the whole benchmark test. The test result was lower than my stock speeds. Any idea why?

FYI, I'm using;
CM Extreme power 430W
Gigabyte GA-8I945PL-G
2GB KVR 533
Galaxy Geforce 7900GS 512MB
Pentium D 3.0 (CPU speed was at stock when the above test was performed. So, I'm pretty sure i got enuff power supplied from PSU)

Pls help..... thx
