Notebook evolve too slowly?

I havent buy a pc for years and switch to notebook last year. Lately my uncle ask me to help him assemble a new pc and I was quite surprise that nowadays you dont need to buy a dedicated graphic card anymore if you just wanna play some simple games. Chipset like AMD 780G are delivering 2000+ 3DMarks2006 score easily. Really makes me wonder if laptop evolve too slowly that even an intergrated solution is catching up to them so fast. I bet in 2 years time, a HTPC/SFF with IGP will easily outclass/match dedicated mobile graphic. What do you guys think?

R.I.P. IBM

Sayonara IBM

I wonder why Lenovo did this. Wouldnt it be easier to go for contract bidding using IBM name than Lenovo?

Opamp

Hey guys...

Im just wondering what are opamp and how it works.

I was thinking whether or not to mod the opamp in my S2000 amplifier unit. Since I already mod my soundcard with LME49720, I was wondering what will it be like if I were to mod the amplifier's opamp with another LME49720. Wouldnt I be getting twice the effect (soundstage etc) if I were to do so? Or it doesnt work like this?

Please enlighten me...

Chemical that eats up up your windscreen

Today I was unlucky following a truck (Hilux or other brand, cant remember) and something flew off the truck and landed on my windscreen. I tot dirt, use wiper and water spray to clean it. What a bad mistake!! It create sound that like you scratch something hard onto the glass. Anyway, what happens was the dirt (chemical perticle I think) melt onto my windscreen. It cant be removed by polishing, detergen nor WD40. When I peel it off with a metal ruler lightly, that was when I realised this particle not only stick to the screen, it melt into it and end up creating a whole lot of melted holes across the windscreen.

Notebook Database

This is a plan to make a notebook database so that owner can post a review of their notebook here. Readers can make use of the search function and search for particular model or brand, and thus advise owner from posting a comparison with another brand/model of notebook. If you dont like it or hate it so much, just put a remark 'wont buy again' or 'stay away from xxx brand' in the remark section.

The format should be something like this.

SAMPLE

Brand
xxxxxx

Model
xxx1234

Price
RM xxxxx

DOB
02/10/2009

Rating
CRAP/BAD/MODERATE/GOOD/EXCELLENT

Review
It has served well over the last 8months without any problem. However it has this annoying problem where the lit wasnt align properly when it was closed. The wireless signal is so-so only. The overall performance is pretty good though. I just hope xxx has better phone/tech support center. I will look for other brand for my next laptop.

Sound Blaster Digital Music SX

Anyone using it?

It seem like plug n play but I did installed Vista drivers for it.
I cant really blast it cos its midnite now, but I play a few songs and definately sounds better than Realtek HD Audio.
Its clear, crispy but still a bit thinner than 0404(stock). I do feel that it has wider soundstage than 0404(stock).
It does feel a little easy on the listener which makes it less annoying in some way.

Stock 0404 is still better in details, and the modded one is even better.
But the modded one make you feel like listening to headphone which I dont really like/prefer.

I think Creative is very evil. I dont know what they did. Even with my 0404 lastime, I cant hear difference with 16bit vs 24bit.
In fact, 16bit does sound better with 0404. With Creative, I dont know they resample or whatever. 16bit sounds so thin.
In fact I was kinda disappointed it sound so thin but later I found that I forgot to save the setting and it revert back to 16bit.
Simply changing to 24bit restore most of my faith in it... everything sounds as it should.

Honestly speaking, I tend to like these soundcard whereby it has wide soundstage. It was one of the reason Im willing to let go my modded 0404 and migrate to notebook. Although it doesnt sound better than stock/modded 0404, its just that I like its kind of sound. Feel lively (though different ppl have different opinion on whats lively).
