BATU PAHAT: A 24-year-old man has been arrested for peeping at a woman in a shopping mall toilet.

Batu Pahat acting OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident took place at the mall in Jalan Flora Utama here, around 12.30pm on Thursday (June 13).

“The 28-year-old victim was in the toilet when she noticed the suspect, who was in the next stall, peering from the bottom of the separator.

“The victim screamed for help while spraying the suspect’s face with a toilet hose,” he said in a statement on Friday (June 14).

He added that the mall security guard came to assist the woman and caught the suspect hiding in the toilet kiosk.
They then reported the incident to the police.

“The suspect has been placed under remand for four days until June 17 for investigation under Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecency,” he said.

PETALING JAYA: A company owner was fined RM200,000 by the Ayer Keroh sessions court today for using forged documents to claim incentives under the Penjana Kerjaya hiring incentive programme.

Judge Elesabet Paya Wan meted out the sentence on Azmi Mat Sah, 55, after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge.

The court also ordered Azmi to serve 12 months in jail if he failed to pay the fine, Bernama reported.

Azmi was charged with committing the offence at the office of DRAZZ Global Resources at Jalan Kristal Merah 2, Limbongan Business Complex in the Melaka Tengah district on June 5, 2021.

The charge was framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using forged documents, punishable under Section 465 of the same law, which carries a maximum prison sentence of two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Irwanshah Abdul Samat asked for a deterrent sentence as the offence involved public interest and some of the documented workers had never worked with the accused.

Lawyer Azrul Zulkifli Stork, representing Azmi, appealed for a minimum sentence without jail time because his client has chronic high blood pressure.

He also said Azmi had to bear a RM250,000 loss after receiving nearly 100 workers from Sabah, but was unable to provide them with job placements.

The judge also allowed the balance of RM16,402.93 in the company’s account to be forfeited to the government.

In May, MACC said it had arrested 67 people and frozen several bank accounts over alleged links to false claims made under the Penjana Kerjaya programme.

The freezing of the bank accounts, involving a total of RM3.2 million, and the arrests were a result of MACC’s special nationwide operation dubbed Ops Hire 2.0.

My driving licence is expired this coming 23rd April 2022. I'm seriously considering whether I should continue to drive on Malaysian road.

The learned judge had come to a decision and sent the driver to 6 years in jail for reckless driving. I believe he has all the facts to come to that decision.

I'm not sure if I have enough time to slow down in that situation in the video (refer to the comment section for the video). If I suddenly slow down on a busy and fast highway, I might be hit from behind by an oncoming vehicle, what then?

Since the judge is sending messages to all the drivers be careful and be responsible.

I hope the public prosecutors will charge all the parents or guardians with negligence. Is there any provision in the Malaysian Penal Code for such an offence? Does any lawyer care to comment?

We need to get rid of those kids from endangering themselves and the public. They usually do not wear helmets, no light, no reflective clothing and no brake too.

Make our road safe again by sending messages to all parties involved.
