Microsoft Word files are "hidden"

Good day,

Recently I got 1 thumbdrive from my fren claiming that all his Microsoft Word files were lost in the thumbdrive,

So I checked his thumbdrive in my laptop, run a virus scan & it shows nothing, then I unhidden all the hidden files & all the Microsoft Word files appear, it looks like this:

I try to change the properties for each files to avoid it from being hidden again, but this thing came out:

I wonder how to solve it back to normal, and due to my fren want to use the Microsoft Word files ASAP so I just (open -> save as -> rename) the files 1 by 1..luckily only a few files..

What is the proper method to solve this thing?
