Hi guys, do you go for the genuine bmw battery or you settle with aftermarket ?

Mine is dead, any experience and info would be much appreciated.

I tried jump starting- not working. There is power, but no enough to start the car. Let it run for 15 mins, still cant start.

asking for referrals - (Mechanic)

Hi guys i value your much earlier inputs in my other threads on an E92 - N52. [@HalseyFrangipane] [@littlefire] [@ctw88] [@Chrix] [@Icehart] [@rcracer] [@mototo] Thank you for your replies. I am now looking to do preventive maintenance part 2. Most of the big expense - water pump, thermostat, valve cover & gasket, coils and a few others have been attended to.

As i now look at other parts such as crankcase sensor, DISA valve, the trans bridge seals and absorbers, i would like to get second opinion of a mechanic, in other words a mechanic who can give some pro advice. The current mechanic is not bad, he did an ok job, but when i ask him on some stuffs, he is just not able to advice. Also, i would like to compare the workmanship price and how much the current mechanic hikes up the price compared to other mechanics. I realized that he was hiking up the part prices, because i had already checked with Bavarian before i sent the car to him.

I would appreciate if you guys could name one or two mechanics in KL or PJ whom are reliable. I would like to get options before i go for further maintenance. Thank you so much.

Guys, i am really unsure of this, so please bear the noob query.
My existing head lights are with the stock yellow bulb. I would like to change it to the white led bulb (i suppose)

So is it just the bulbs, which i need to change or there is some kind of kit i have to change ? Thanks.

[attachmentid=11382785][attachmentid=11382786]

All sifus, please give me your thought:

- looks bad ?
- looks not good ?

i mean the color of the engine oil and the inner parts. My old japanese make still looks blackish !

I open the cap after the engine just stop running, that's the smoke.

[attachmentid=11338328][attachmentid=11338331][attachmentid=11338336][attachmentid=11338337]

[@OrangeGrove]
[@ctw88]
[@littlefire]
[@779364]
[@Chrix]
[@HalseyFrangipane]

I know that any random OBD scanner may do the job, but i rather get a recommendation from you guys who are familiar with it.

I dnt have an OBD scanner yet as my Japanese car has not thrown any codes yet 😅

Thank you.

For learning purposes N52 beemers

To all the beemer sifus, can you guys give me some inside on the link provided here. NOPE I AM NOT BUYING THIS - i am looking for the black top N52. And the mileage is too good to be true 😁

That brings me to my query. The car is a 2006, shouldnt it have a silver top ? Perhaps the top cover was switched ? Is it posiible with the two variants ?

Or could it be an engine swap 😁.

Also the advert mentions about a ‘twin scrolled turbo’. I thought the N52 were all NA. Perhaps a mod ? But i dnt see any turbo in the pic. Typo perhaps ?

Pls give me your thoughts. Thank you.

[attachmentid=11297166]

https://www.mudah.my/2006+Bmw+323i+Coupe+E9...A+-98848030.htm

Wta - 325i 2.5L & 3.0L

Hi guys, my understanding on the 325i is that there can be a 2.5l version and 3.0 version.

We and Europe should have the 2.5L version. The UsA has the 3.0l. Am i right ? Oh, i am talking about the N52 engine, which the E90 series use.

So even if its a M Sport model, a 325i should be the 2.5l, in Europe and Us ?

Btw, any of you who knows of an E92 coming up for sale, pls kindly let me know 😁 325i.

Cbu v Ckd

Guys, i am looking to get an old model car, which is further narrowed by the model, which i am looking for. I find mostly Cbu units. Ohh, i am looking for an E92 325i.

Its a limited model as mentioned, due to reliability, i have to go with a 325i or higher, 325i is my limit, cant go higher. I mostly come across cbu units.

So i am wondering, what are the pros and cons of the CBU and CKD ? Any info will be much appreciated. Thank you.

The E90 - N52 over N43 ?

Hi guys, two years ago i wanted to get the e36 as my first beemer. After consideration i changed my mind to the E46.

Since those are very old models, i have saved up to get a E90 (petrol) LCI, in the range of 30k ++ and and additional 10k for surprises. My research is telling me that for an e90, i should skip the 318i and 320i due to the notorious N43.

Instead i should go for the 323i or 325i, which run the N52.

I cant go beyond those model, those are my target models as a beginner ( this is my limitation)

My question is: am i right in going for the N52, leave alone the power and being straight 6. My curiosity is, am i right in ignoring the N43 ?

My other problem, the E92 has been driving me nuts, in fact that is the reason i am still holding my purchase. Engine wise its going to be same as the 90, the extra dough is for the look it has

Those who have knowledge about the N43 and N52, please shed some light. I have a japanese make for running around. The beemer is not meant as a daily drive. Thanks

For those who wish to advise that i should not consider a beemer, pls stick to the thread. I have had such advises, turns out that one of them attempted to get a beemer but never managed to. The other guy, worked opposite a BMW service centre, and he says that he sees a lot of beemers coming in !

E36 E46 Come Lecture me .

Hi guys. Have been wanting to get either the 36 or 46, 318 of course. But very few 318 in the market.

I know ppl say old car, you will die with the maintenance, further it’s a conti. Better have rm10-20k for maintenance. All these and bad stories of bad purchases is what that has been scaring me all this while.

I think unless i get a very cheap one, bad condition, i wont have to look at rm10k maintenance 😱

It will just be a weekend car. Barely outstation drives. I think with 15k can get a decent e36. Which may not be perfect but should be able to hold up.

For a e46, i think 23k should be a decent buy. However my budget is 18k.

I have read about the common issues of these models, that the cooling system should be given much attention. And yes RUST.

Also read that the E46 has common issue of crack at the rear mudguard.

Still i think i want to get one of these. What say you guys 😅
