Normally we always heard Level 1 to Level 3 in IT Engineer esp at MNC company...and job descriptions like..

L1-heldesk
L2-support L1 and L3
L3-specialist or DTS (Deep Technical Support)
L4-??

Anyone can tell me what supposed i do or technology that used for the following cased...

I have domain server and got up to 100 client.

I think most IT setup are standard which deploy the security policy to access the folder, file based on Policy setting in the DC.

In this cased, if my Domain Server down or problem...all user cannot login to DC and networking then all sytem look down.

So, what i need is, how to avoid this? I mean example Domain server down...another machine take over without configure anything....i mean morning time user can login like normal to the backup server.

The i/we as IT engineer proceed to troubleshoot the problem server..

Please do some suggestion........

Hi..im writing just to to survey or get some opinion from Lowyat forum members...

Im at this company more than 8 years....present salary rm36++ and NO other allowances. Only have ot once got special cases....since 8 years here, i have been upgrade server from NT to win2000 and from 2000 to 2003 server doing by myself...as you all know server requirement like AD, group policy, DNS all i configure without training...but at the end i successful create domain for this company...beside than that email using Lotus Domino, website, sql server, hardware and softwares all incharges by me alone (im only the IT person here)....sometimes before i leave (long holiday) i hv to make it all system auto...esp email...and some using InternetNow application like Proxynow, Mailnow, protectnow, firewallnow....then i hv to using teamviewer to monitor the email in/out....a lot of thins...sometimes holiday not so happy coz thingking of server down or email down....im also doing website design..and so on which related to IT and setup video conference from within msia and japan...im also create 2 intranet program using Lotus Notes (Contract system database and IT Inventory Database)...i bought book from US using my own money about RM246.00

actually i like the company condition but, reward for me so less..i see at job portal..by doing AD, DNS they pay 4k per-month. My increment since this 3 years by avg around RM80...that is why some of my friend advised to look for another job....

some more here, everything hv protocols (Japanese company), like training need to request...but since 8 years, they never send me for training...luckly Uncle Google supporting by doing search engine....

but once problem come, i hv to settle it by myself due to 'cut-cost' (don't want to pay vendor)....when i suggest to upgrade...everything cost!!..our server room runing 2 unit of HP server and one unit HP pc (email gateway) without air-cond after 5.30pm and sat/sun....on Monday i can fell the hot temp from server...i hv request one Horse power aircond but, rejected...why?...coz at the end i hv to settle it in-cased hardware failure....

Please give some opinions as i also hv 3 kids and my age 32 y/o....

Hi all

Our PDC just infected by virus Trojan.panddos. Since X'mas i was pain to remove it using all any sources that posted on the net but failed to remove the trojan. I try to boot from safe mode, but that virus already delete server Minimal folder registry. Try to update but virus already injection into the server Cryptsvc and caused security patches failed to install.

Nak tak nak.....i need to reformat my windows server 2003.

Since im normal IT not everyday working on server therefore im not sure about the AD and DNS. I will try to configure it as before (Year 2006), i also fress install on it (now lupa already). I the only incharge IT here...and no MCSA or MCSE only Dip IT....

My question, after i install the server successful....what should i do first? Install AD or install DNS?.....That only....

need some help....
