Sony VAIO FZ11M: Vertical dotted blue lines

Hi, hope you guys can help me out on this one

Laptop: Sony VAIO FZ11M

Problem: vertical dotted blue lines appears during startup and than the VAIO logo kinda distorted around the edges. And the screen goes black.

When it occurred: in the morning everything was ok, and than later on I start it again, the problem occurred

I can start it up SafeMode but I found out that I can't view pictures in it.

I erased all the data on hardisk since I needed to reformat it anyway. However when the VAIO logo shows, it's still a bit distorted. Now I'm recovering to it's original manufacturing state.

I think it might be a hardware problem?
