Internet pass through kill connections + BSOD

Hi

Having issues with my HTC Incredible S when using Internet pass through (via USB cable) on my WinXP machine.

using WinXP SP3 and installed the HTC sync programme (3.0.5517.exe). Able to use tethering and HD mode without any issues. However when I try to use Internet pass through from the phone, once the phone show it successfully connected to my PC (Internet pass through mode), my PC is not able to connect to the Internet and so is the phone (routing issue ???). After changing my phone to charging mode, still not able to browse Internet from my PC and sometimes I get BSOD. Tried on my notebook as well (WinXP with SP3 as well) also same issue.

Anyone here having the same issue ? Any solutions ?

Thanks in advance.

[SOLVED] Geforce 6600 - 4bit colour 640*480 res

Hi all,

Recently purchased a second hand AGP Galaxy Geforce 6600 from a forumer in Lowyat.net and proceed to install it in my machine. After installing the drivers from Nvidia (175.19 - 175.19_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe) and restarting the machine, the resolution I get is only 4bit colour and 640*480 resolution.

Check on the control Panel it states the driver is correct and working (Geforce 6600). At first I thought it might be a PSU issue as the graphics card need Power, and I have try unplugging everything and just powering the graphics card and Hard disk and still got the same results.

My PC Spec
iCute 450 PSU
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2200+
RAM: 1 gig (512 + 256 + 256)
mobo: MSI-6712 (VIA KT400A, southbridge=VIA KT8235)
HD: 40gig WD
OS: Win XP (SP1 - Version 5.1.2600)

Managed to get a screenshot in 640*480 4-bit colour of the card using GPU-Z - Notice that the GPU clock is zero (0) - is this normal ?

Is it a driver issue, faulty card, hardware incompability or some other issue ? Any ideas or solutions if you have encountered this before.

Thanks in advance.

Wireless PC unable to access LAN

Hi

I have a desktop PC (win XP, 192.168.0.100, 255.255.255.0) setup wirelessly (using Aztech wireless USB adaptor) to connect to a wireless router (Linksys BEFW11S4, 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0) and an XBOX (192.168.0.101, 255.255.225.0) connected using wire to the router.

CODE

desktop PC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Linksys -----------------> Xbox
192.168.0.100 wireless 192.168.0.1 wire 192.168.0.101

All the IP is static but the router still run DHCP. All are in the same subnet (255.255.255.0). The desktop PC connect wirelessly via WEP.

From my PC I am able to ping the router but is unable to ping anything wired to the router (Xbox). Doing an arp-a in my PC, I am able to get the MAC of the Xbox!!. Checking route table looks fine as the default gateway is 192.168.0.1 going through interface 192.168.0.100 on the desktop PC.

Anyone have any idea what going on ? Basically I just want to connect both my desktop PC to my Xbox so that I can FTP stuff to the XBOX.

BTW all firewall have been disabled.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Just got this TV to replace my old TV and I have some questions about the TV and want to ask anyone who is using this TV.

1. Is there a way to enable the blue screen background if there is no signal ? Currently the TV just show static if there is no signal and the snow noise is very irritating. (my old Toshiba will turn to blue screen if there is no signal.

2. When changing channel - is there a way to make it input only 1 channel number ? Say when pressing 1 for channel 1 (I will need to wait a few seconds before I input the second number [ will show 1_ ], if i press too fast say I want to change from channel 1 then to channel 2 - I get channel 12 instead. (Hope you understand what I mean)

Notice also that when using xbox (normal composite cable), the the far right picture is over scan a bit. The logo for evolution (oval shape) is cut off on the right side but left side is OK.

I am still waiting for my PS2 component cable to arrive before testing HD (1080i)

Thanks in advance.

[WTA] Xbox modifications

Hi,

Was thinking of changing the hard disk of the old xbox (XBMC is sweet) and I tried to backup the system first as instructed in some guide. Under System-->backup I run the function and the caption 'backingup ' is shown but I think the xbox hang on this moment (as the swirling logo at the back is not swirling anymore)

I left it for half an hour thinking it might take some time to backup and it still is not reponding. Later I press the eject button and the xbox is reset back to the evox dashboard. in c:/backup folder I see there is a file bios.bin with 0 as the size. Normally how long does it take to backup (those 5 files will be placed in backup folder) ? Did I do something wrong ?

BTW I am using evox dashboard V 1.8.2812 (as written in the dashboard) and Xecuter 2 modchip I think (written at the bottom of the X logo when booting up)

After this is just a matter of copying those needed files in C:\ of xbox + the backup folder to a cd or dvd media (xiso) to boot the new harddisk and start with formatting ?

I am also thinking of replacing the IDE cables with ATA 100 - does this make any significant difference in performance ( read somewhere the dvd drive will load faster ) ?

Thanks in advance

[WTA] Xbox internal battery ?

Hi

Just got a xbox and installed XBMC as an app. Will try to make it a dashboard soon if I upgrade the harddisk and some other mods . XBMC is a sweet program, still need to get a hang on how to use it.

The thing that is bugging me now is that the time keep reseting to 2002 after I off the xbox. Does the xbox has something like a internal battery (like a PC) and the battery has lost all it power or is this a normal behavior for xbox (ie cannot retain the time) - as I see you can get the time from NTP .

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I have a 3rd party program that needs to be run every month to keep our data in-sync. I was thinking of writing a script and cron it .
Grub issues

Hi

Been trying to modify my boot preference in GRUB. Currently using Red Hat 9. menu.lst is a link to grub.conf ( in /boot/grub). After altering grub.conf (just altered the 'default' for boot sequence) and save it, but when I restart GRUB still uses the previous settings. I also tried by deleting all the extry except 1 boot instance and set default to 0 (after backing up of course) also GRUB will be using the previous settings. Is there something I need to do to GRUB to commit it to memory (similar to LILO) ? I read in some forums that GRUB (menu.lst or grub.conf) just need to be saved and a reboot will take effect the new settings.

Anyone can help?

Thanks in advance.

Red Hat 9 Installation issues

Hi all,

Tried to install Red hat 9 (GUI installation) on hard disk (SCSI) which have been partition into 3 (swap, /data and /) using disk druid provided in Red hat and procedded to install RH9 (ticked to format those partition and to perform bad blocks check)

Half way through the formatting (before begining actual installation) RH9 reported that sda3 has badblocks and not adviseable to use. Once press OK, machine rebooted.

Fearing that my harddisk might have bad sectors I tried to use the SCSI adapter (Adaptec) utility to verify the disk (in BIOS , enter adaptec screen --> verify disk) --> no problem. No error reported.

Now that is confusing as RH9 installation reported badblocks. Boot up the server using Knoppix --> did a e2fsck (non destructive RW)

CODE

e2fsck -c -c -C -y /dev/sda3

no error reported but did mention about 5.7% of non-contigous of hard disk ??? (what does this mean) ?

run badblocks (destructive this time)

CODE

badblocks -b 4096 -c 16384 -w -s /dev/sda3

seems OK --> all test read and write was done and was given a value 590.

Tried install RH9 again with (badblocks check enable) --> same error

any ideas ? Is my hard disk really damaged ?

Thanks in advance
The client VPN PC is able to surf the net using the tunnel to my site(IE using my Public IP to surf net).
Thanks in advance.

Settled the deal for the 2 SDRAM for RM 50 + RM5 for posting (3-3-06). He promised to post the package tomorrow via post laju once payment. Wait and wait until Tuesday (6-3-06) but nothing arrived. Sent him a few PM but no reply. Call him and SMS him (say he will check and stuff). On the 8-3-06 reply via SMS that his sister help him post items on 7-3-06. I ask for pos laju tracking number but he didn't provide. Most of the reply are knee-jerk reaction and after I sent SMS and call him, not once he SMS or call me first. Wait until Firday (10-3-06) still nothing. PM him with a warning to give me a resonable explanation(or refund) before I post here. Give him deadline until noon of Friday (until now all request for postlaju tracking not given). He replied shortly via PM saying that all the others have received the package and will deal with the pos laju himself + full refund to me (ask for my account number - reply my Maybank acc) say will bank in during lunch time. Wait until 8.56 PM still no transfer to my account - sent him a PM saying deadline before posting here is by tonight 12am. He replied saying bank far from his working place, and initiated interbank transfer from Public bank to My Maybank. Will take 1 working day to complete. Until now Tuesday (14-3-06) still nothing in my account (check just now)

I have giving him so many chances before posting here but until today I don't even know if he posted the item or it just the fault of Pos laju as he didn't provide me with the pos laju tracking number. Promised to refund until today is not bank-in. Most reply also is after I SMS, call or threaten to report here. There is no once PM,SMS or call to notify me the status of the whole deal (ie - item sent, payment receive....)

I wish we can complete the deal with resolving here but until today all your action proves something is just not right.

The bank in slip

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

====================================================

Additional information.
DO NOT BANK INTO THESE ACCOUNTS USED by fengshuitoall

Maybank Account
Transwell Trading
Acc Num: 5123 9802 5862 (512398025862)

Public Bank Account
Acc Num: Tan Mei Chieng
4411945311

==========
Update - 26.8.2006

Details from yellowpages
http://yellowpages.com.my/search_white.jsp...=&Submit=Search

Tan Mei Chieng
2A, Lrg Batu Nilam 26B, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang, Selangor
Phone : 03-3324 4339

===========
As of 21 March 2006 - 1.24AM

List of fengshuitoall con

1.
