JOHOR BAHRU: Seorang pengarah kilang plastik warga Singapura dijatuhi hukuman penjara dua minggu dan denda RM10,000 oleh Mahkamah Sesyen di sini hari ini atas tuduhan memberi rasuah kepada seorang kakitangan awam Sabtu lalu.

Tertuduh, Yong Boon Tao, 43, mengaku bersalah selepas pertuduhan dibacakan dalam bahasa Mandarin di hadapan Hakim Kamarudin Kamsun.

Mengikut pertuduhan, tertuduh memberi suapan wang tunai bernilai RM100 kepada seorang Penolong Penguasa Imigresen di Bahagian Pemeriksaan Bas, sebagai dorongan untuk tidak mengambil tindakan undang-undang ke atasnya yang melanggar Skim Pelaksanaan Laluan Hijau Timbal Balik (RGL) yang boleh diusir menggunakan Notis Penolakan Masuk (NTL), jam 9.40 pagi, 24 Oktober lalu, di Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, dekat sini.

Kesalahan didakwa mengikut Seksyen 24(1) Akta Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) 2009 yang memperuntukkan hukuman penjara tidak lebih 20 tahun dan didenda hingga lima kali nilai suapan atau RM10,000 mengikut mana lebih tinggi.

Tertuduh yang juga seorang pengarah sebuah kilang plastik kemudiannya membuat pengakuan bersalah terhadap pertuduhan pilihan hukuman yang dijatuhkan mahkamah.

Pendakwaan dikendalikan Pegawai Pendakwa SPRM, Mahirah Mohd Pauzi manakala tertuduh diwakili peguam Hazza Khalid.

SMS Scam

PUTRAJAYA: Staff of several telecommunication companies are now under the radar of graft investigators for allegedly accepting bribes to reveal personal data of their customers.

Sources said investigations into the activities of a syndicate recently found that staff of certain telcos were collaborating with the syndicate.

“The syndicate is believed to have bribed telco companies’ staff to provide them with customers’ data. We will be investigating them soon,” a source said in an interview.

The syndicate is believed to have been raking in millions of ringgit by charging mobile users without their knowledge.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) successfully crippled the syndicate with the arrest of its seven members.

The suspects were arrested at various locations in the Klang Valley on Tuesday.

They were brought before Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim and were remanded for four days until Saturday.

Those remanded are aged between 38 and 44, and included a company director and his technical staff.

It is learnt the suspects are being probed for their involvement in three companies which are SMS content service providers by sending paid SMS to mobile phone users nationwide.

The companies are said to have sent SMS providing promotional and other services to telco customers.

Sources said that for the SMS sent by the syndicate, handphone users were charged between 50 sen and RM4.

However, the telco customers were unaware that they were being charged for the service.

“The syndicate’s main targets were prepaid card users as the charges would not be reflected in their bill.

“The syndicate is also believed to have been making claims to telecommunication companies as service charges. This means they were raking in profits from both mobile users and telcos,” said a source.

The syndicate is believed to have been operating for the past five years and had gained profits amounting to millions of ringgit.MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the arrests, saying the case was being investigated.

Raj’s Banana Leaf reopens

PETALING JAYA: Bangsar eatery Raj’s Banana Leaf Restaurant reopened today, some three months after it was shut down over multiple health violations following a video showing its workers washing dishes in a pothole in the back alley.

In a statement, the restaurant which will continue operating on the same premises, said it was now called RBL Banana Leaf.
It said it was reopening after having passed rigorous inspections by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the health ministry’s Food and Safety Division.

“Officers from the Health and Environment Department of DBKL completed the final round of thorough inspections on Monday, Aug 27, before awarding the final grading marks and cleanliness certificate to RBL,” it said.

According to the statement, the restaurant has undergone substantial renovation to its kitchen, food and beverage, washing and serving areas.

It now features a more open layout which allows customers to view the preparation of food as well as the dish-washing process.
“In addition to the renovations, all staff, new and old, have completed a proper food handling course conducted by a trainer certified and registered with the health ministry and who is a member of the Malaysian Association of Environmental Health,” the statement said.

All staff members across all restaurants were given typhoid injections over June and July, it added.

“The debacle in May was a sobering wake-up call for us,” Raj’s Banana Leaf director Muhamad Rizal Abd Rahman said.

“We would like to offer our unequivocal apology once again to everyone affected by our oversight. The incident served as a lesson for us to work on our shortcomings, improve operations and adhere to all regulations and relevant standards to offer customers the best possible experience when dining at RBL.”

The restaurant was shut down indefinitely by the Kuala Lumpur Health Department after a video of workers washing used plates by rinsing them in a pothole filled with kitchen waste went viral.

The restaurant operator issued an apology, saying the workers were newly hired and promising to ensure the incident would not happen again.

The eatery was subsequently slapped with multiple offences pertaining to food handlers, anti-pest rules and failing to register with the health ministry as a food outlet.

Beware all of you /K

Someone just call me (tel no show from HK) 2 weeks ago saying their company is launching new products and services in Malaysia and having an event at BTS and would be in the news in Phoenix Channel the same night and ask me to go visit them.

After like 2 weeks they call again asking me if I went to the event and I said no, then they claim that I am 1 of their invited guest and on the lucky draw that day I've won the 2nd prize --- A brand new BMW 525L worth HKD450k and due to I did not go to receive my prize that day, they had offer the sponsor to convert the car to 80% of market value and would remit the money to me, that is RM210k!

Wow! I said, got so big katak jumping around meh....

They persist to have my account no. etc for them to transfer the money so I tell them to send me an official e-mail for the prize and information they needed. They keep on saying haw can they write something so long in the e-mail blablabla and finally say I can check their info from a website and would send me an e-mail later.

So I go check the site lor....niameh, want to cheat people also do a better job lar....

Most image using at the site are downloaded image from other site....I can see picture from Infinity QX80 launch event, PIKOM fair photo, MATTA Fair Photo, they even use a Penang MATTA Fair some travel agent booths group photo as their prizes winners photo!

Even the BMW prize is a lo-res BMW photo from Autohome.com.cn (which shown on the car's number plate )

Win 10 Pro 32bit disable Nvidia 740M and wifi

After upgrade to Win 10, these are the problems I face:-

1. Built in wifi (Intel 7260N) cannot switch on -
2. The Nvidia 740M had been disable by windows said it's conflicting with some other things
3. Change my keyboard layout, now " become @ , and @ become "

I am using a DELL Vostro 5470 notebook and already updated all BIOS, firmware and drivers to latest version, but but but ....

Had been asking Dr Google for help but nothing works
Anyone can assist in providing some solutions to these?
