Watching 3D

I'm curious:

1) Besides a 3D TV, do I need a special media player that can play 3D ? Or any media player will do as long as it can play the mkv H-SBS format (and the TV will do the rest) ?

2) Why there are media players that are promoted as 3D-capable ? Does it means it can play 3D ISO format (which other media player cant) ?

Hope someone can clarify this. Thanks in advance.
