Tips for Do's and dont's for first time reno

As per the title, I just bought a sub-sale condo / apartment that is built in 2005 (Palm Spring) and will get the housekey sometime next month.

This unit is already 18 years. I asked the previous owner, they haven't done any reno work on the unit before. The tenant currently staying there said all is good - no short circuit or water leakage. However, since it is an old unit, I feel that at least before i move in, need to do basic plumbing / piping work because afraid it is rusty. Also, planning to do re-wiring for the house just in case it is not stable or already faulty.

My unit is on level 6 out of 22. What I heard is that it is concrete slab on my level, very hard to break (im not sure on this). Secondly, plumbing work is difficult, many cases after some time will have leakage, so better not to touch if it is in good condition. Any tips on what should i do from the sifus here? Or other things i need to consider when doing the reno works. Budget is limited as I have just started working a few years, but i can stretch my budget to 15k if that is enough?

Dilemma in postgrad master

Im thinking to pursue postgrad in energy-related field, i'm coming from engineering background with 2 years working experience now.

Initially, i found UTM KL offering this kind of courses, but it is coursework. My brother told me coursework is less appreciated in oversea as compared to research-based. Some deemed it as post-diploma? Also, im taking master in hope to secure higher chances to get job oversea as some of the countries like Oz and Nz needs master. But of course, it will be much better to pursue postgrad in Nz / Oz if i really wanted to get a job there in the long run.

My current dilemma is :
1. Coursework vs research-based. As I'm new to energy field, i thought coursework will help me understand more of this field. Or should i just directly go to research-based?
2. postgrad in local uni (UTM / UM) or get a scholarship to study abroad will be a better choice?

Long term goal is to migrate oversea.

Technical Competency for Electrical (O&G)

Hi everyone.

I'm pretty new to the working world. Currently I'm working as instrument engineer, for 1 year since graduation, with EE background in a MNC oil and gas company. So far my work revolves around datasheet and technical specification a lot, 99% facing computer and work from home. Recently just came back from site visit at fab yard and got interested with the work there while chatting with the subcon.

My question is, how do I attain these competencies certificates and which one should i go for? The subcon i chatted with talked more about salary and payment as a freelancer. I believe most will say it depends on where im heading? I've checked puspatri (apparently it's quite famous?) and the cert for NDT takes 3 months, which i dont think i can achieve that while working full time.

My senior said as EE, maybe can go get certified by ST. ST as in getting chargeman or those installation wiring cert? Im lost. Having dilemma in which to choose.

My aim was always management role, but ever since my site visit, looks like i prefer technical role more. Can any sifu give some guidance?
My current objective is to attain cert, increase my value and jump role if there is opportunity. Im 25, single so travel is not a restriction.

That's about 600 cheaper in comparison. That is a sweet deal nonetheless but just worry about the quality or whether is it a legit store.
