Notebook mobo replacement

Hi there,

Does anyone have any idea how to replace the mobo for HP dv9700? Also, am wondering where can I get a replacement mobo. If possible, I'd like a mobo that isn't the exact part since I've read that the graphics chips on these mobos are defective. I'm looking to swap out for another mobo but am not sure which one will fit my chassis. I'm also currently overseas so I don't think I would be able to bring it in to Lowyat.

Thanks!

Hey all,

Wow it's been a long time since I last posted here! Can't remember how long ago it was.. Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a present for a girl (an ex .. best friend now). I don't know if things will work out between me and her but I would like her to know that I do care still. I know that you guys and girls have got tons of ideas so I'm counting on you guys. The situation is that I'm out of the country and I'd prefer something that I can order online in Malaysia and have it delivered to her or something I can do on my end and mail it back to her.

Cheers!

Problem accessing websites

Hi there,

I'm having problems accessing a site.

The site is http://www.chass.utoronto.ca

So far I've tried disconnecting my router and going direct to the cable modem but no luck. I've asked other people to try accessing from their computer and it works fine. I'm going to try another computer at home and see if I can access it. What else can I check for? I tried rebooting both my router and my modem. No dice.

Funny thing is that when connected to my router I can't access http://home.skysports.com but when I go direct to the modem, I could occasionally get to it. ??

Seems that I changed my browser setting to auto detect proxy server then it works?

I tried accessing on 2 different computers but doesn't work.

No display on monitor?

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my desktop. When I turn it on, no display shows up. Not even bios. Thought it might be the graphics card so I opened the case to check. Seems fine as the fan is running. I then begin to monitor the booting up sequence..everytime I reset or turn it on, it normally does all that memory check and proceeds to process and then load Windows right? Well I've left it on, turned on my speakers since my Windows is set to play a sound when it loads up. But then it doesn't seem to get to that stage. After turning on, no processing work or whatsoever. I tried resetting the bios settings by taking out the battery. Onboard LAN and Onboard USB keyboard and mouse seem to work.

I'm puzzled at what's going on. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Just wondering if any of you have any idea on how to get your ex back? Just broke up about 6 days ago. I guess my prob is that we are still friends and I am still talking to her. i read that to get your ex back, shouldn't talk to her and should instead just act like everything's fine and possibly go out with another girl to bring out jealousy. But I don't think it's good. Feel immoral and doing this. Sooo any other ideas?

Hey there,

I'm wondering if you guys can help me out. Recently I've been experiencing blue screen of death messages detailing about bad pool header and bad pool caller occasionally when I shut down my computer. I'm not sure how to go about fixing this. It also takes about 5 mins for my computer to shut down, it just stays on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen and there's light showing from the processor activity light. But it just waits and waits until finally it shuts down. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Tips on designing logos

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you have any general tips on designing logos. I'm designing a new logo for the Malaysian Singaporean Students' Association at the University of Toronto. We asked someone who is supposedly very good with design to come up with something but I was absolutely shocked at the person's submission. It look like something from Star Wars and was downright horrible in my opinion. Therefore, I decided to try and come up with something since I'm the web designer.

So yeah..any general ideas on how to begin designing a logo? Places to get fonts? Would like a professional looking logo but also a hint of fun since this is a student association.

Appreciate any help from you guys..thanks!!!

I've tried .mov and .avi with various codecs. I can't find where to change this setting? I tried changing the frames per second..and the 8 second per keyframe..but I haven't got it more than 3 seconds. I would like to make it 30 seconds. Can anyone help?? Thank you!

Hey guys. Well so far I've only been able to find articles on how to install Linux onto an ipod. Also found some stuff about having to mount the drive and then use Wine to load iTunes. I have an ipod Video. But I am quite afraid and unsure about mounting.. is this the only way? Or can I just plug and play it?

Hey there. I am using Dev C++ for programming in C. I would like to compile my programs so that they will be "a.out" instead of "a.exe". How do I do this? I have tried compiling under Cygwin which is a UNIX port..It used to give me the "out" extension but now it just gives me the "exe" extension. Anyone know?

Yeah I'm using SUSE linux 9.0 i reckon and I'm just having trouble trying to connect to my wireless router..they detected the wireless card and everything but it just doesn't seem to get configured or anything despite me putting in the values..also my passphrase is in alphabets and not hexadecimal..how do i convert it?..
there are also a lot of stuff that the system has detected but there are no drivers for it and so currently it's like those question marks you see on windows when the hardware isn't installed..
