Legendary investor Jim Rogers sat down with Business Insider CEO Henry Blodget on this week's episode of "The Bottom Line." Rogers predicts a market crash in the next few years, one that he says will rival anything he has seen in his lifetime. Following is a transcript of the video.

Blodget: One of the things I’ve always admired about you as an investor is that you don’t talk about what should be. You figure out what is going to be and then you do that. So what is going to be with respect to the stock market? What’s going to happen?

Rogers: I learned very early in my investing careers: I better not invest in what I want. I better invest in what’s happening in the world. Otherwise I’ll be broke — dead broke. Well, what’s going to happen is it’s going to continue. Some stocks in America are turning into a bubble. The bubble’s gonna come. Then it’s going to collapse, and you should be very worried. But, Henry, this is good for you. Because someone has to report it. So you have job security. You’re a lucky soul.

Blodget: Well, yeah, TV ratings do seem to go up during crashes, but then they completely disappear when everyone is obliterated, so no one is hoping for that. So when is this going to happen?

Rogers: Later this year or next.

Blodget: Later this year or next?

Rogers: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Write it down.

Blodget: And what will trigger it?

Rogers: Well, it’s interesting because these things always start where we’re not looking. In 2007, Iceland went broke. People said, ‘Iceland? Is that a country? They have a market?’ And then Ireland went broke. And then Bear Stearns went broke. And Lehman Brothers went broke. They spiral like that. Always happens where we’re not looking.

I don’t know. It could be an American pension plan that goes broke, and many of them are broke, as you know. It could be some country we’re not watching. It could be all sorts of things. It could be war — unlikely to be war, but it’s going to be something. When you’re watching Business Insider and you see, "That’s so interesting. I didn’t know that company could go broke." It goes broke. Send me an email, and then I’ll start watching.

Blodget: And how big a crash could we be looking at?

Rogers: It’s going to be the worst in your lifetime.

Blodget: I’ve had some pretty big ones in my lifetime.

Rogers: It’s going to be the biggest in my lifetime, and I’m older than you. No, it’s going to be serious stuff.

We’ve had financial problems in America — let’s use America — every four to seven years, since the beginning of the republic. Well, it’s been over eight since the last one.

This is the longest or second-longest in recorded history, so it’s coming. And the next time it comes — you know, in 2008, we had a problem because of debt. Henry, the debt now, that debt is nothing compared to what’s happening now.

In 2008, the Chinese had a lot of money saved for a rainy day. It started raining. They started spending the money. Now even the Chinese have debt, and the debt is much higher. The federal reserves, the central bank in America, the balance sheet is up over five times since 2008.

It’s going to be the worst in your lifetime — my lifetime too. Be worried.

Blodget: I am worried.

Rogers: Good. Good.

Blodget: Can anybody rescue us?

Rogers: They will try. What’s going to happen is, they’re going to raise interest rates some more. Then when things start going really bad, people are going to call and say, "You must save me. It’s Western civilization. It’s going to collapse." And the Fed, who is made up of bureaucrats and politicians, will say, "Well, we better do something." And they’ll try, but it won’t work. It’ll cause some rallies, but it won’t work this time.

Blodget: And we are in a situation where Western civilization already seems to be possibly collapsing, even with the market going up all the time. Often when you do have a financial calamity, you get huge turmoil in the political system. What happens politically if that happens?

Rogers: Well, that’s why I moved to Asia. My children speak Mandarin because of what’s coming.

You’re going to see governments fail. You’re going to see countries fail, this time around. Iceland failed last time. Other countries fail. You’re going to see more of that.

You’re going to see parties disappear. You’re going to see institutions that have been around for a long time — Lehman Brothers had been around over 150 years — gone. Not even a memory for most people. You’re going to see a lot more of that next around, whether it’s museums or hospitals or universities or financial firms.

It's the sight many office workers would dread after coming into work on a Monday morning: the red WannaCry ransomware taking over their computer.

The cyber attack, which locks a computer's files and demands they pay hundreds of pounds in Bitcoin, sparked a global security crisis earlier this month, taking down hundreds of thousands of PCs and bringing NHS services to a halt.

But WannaCry has also been seized upon by office pranksters, who have changed their colleagues' desktop backgrounds to make it appear as if the debilitating virus has hit their computers.

The history of human evolution has been rewritten after scientists discovered that Europe was the birthplace of mankind, not Africa.

Currently, most experts believe that our human lineage split from apes around seven million years ago in central Africa, where hominids remained for the next five million years before venturing further afield.

But two fossils of an ape-like creature which had human-like teeth have been found in Bulgaria and Greece, dating to 7.2 million years ago.

Zimbabwe hunter 'crushed to death by shot elephant

A professional big-game hunter was crushed to death by an elephant that had been shot, according to reports in South Africa.
The Netwerk24 website said an elephant cow stormed a group headed by Theunis Botha in Zimbabwe on Friday.
The elephant was reportedly shot as she picked him up with her trunk, before she fell and died, crushing Mr Botha.
He had been leading a group of hunters near the Hwange national park in Zimbabwe when he died.
It is the same park where Cecil the Lion was shot dead by an American hunter in July 2015, sparking an international outcry.
Mr Botha, 51, was a father of five from the northern Limpopo province in South Africa.
His eldest daughter Marike confirmed her father's death to the BBC, but would not comment further on the circumstances of his death.

'Connaught' is very British name. I see the name commonly used for streets, hotels and even small companies and shops in Britain. But does anyone know why Malaysia have Taman Connaught in Cheras? Think about it its quite a weird name to choose. Anyone know the history?

A bitter pill to swallow for the man who hoped to save Alitalia

In the middle of the night just before Christmas, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the chairman of Alitalia, called senior Italian government officials to discuss the fate of the country’s struggling flag carrier.

Alitalia’s finances were deteriorating to the point that some doubted its ability to survive, and government involvement was becoming crucial to keeping the airline’s shareholders — including Etihad, the UAE-based carrier, and Italian banks UniCredit and Intesa — from splitting.

The outcome secured by Mr Montezemolo was ultimately that Alitalia lived to fight another day, on the basis of a new, aggressive restructuring plan that would be presented in March.

But this week, any glimmers of hope that Alitalia might stay afloat were extinguished after workers rejected the measures in the new plan, including lay-offs and salary cuts, that had been painstakingly negotiated with trade unions.

Alitalia is likely to be placed into administration next week, to be sold or liquidated, since nationalisation has been ruled out by the government.

Alitalia Succumbs to Bankruptcy After Workers Reject Bailout Plea

Troubled Italian airline Alitalia has conceded defeat in its long-running battle against bankruptcy following the decision of its workers to refuse to sign a pre-agreement that would have injected additional funds to save the company.

In an announcement made by its Board of Directors, the officials disclosed that their workforce rejected the bailout scheme proposed to help the company with its financial problems. The said agreement was initially anticipated to provide approximately $2.2 billion recapitalization along with 900 million of fresh financial opportunities for the airline. However, unions revealed that they hope for the government to intervene and offer a better rescue scheme.

According to the press release, the company now faces an impossible situation in which it could no longer proceed with their future plans of investing on new projects and improving the status of the airline. With this in mind, the Board announced its intention to “start preparing the procedures provided by the law.” Shareholders are expected to be called on to finalize the decision on April 27.

“The most likely scenario is that we will go towards a short period of special administration that may be concluded within six months with a partial or total sale of Alitalia’s assets or with liquidation,” disclosed Economic Development Minister Carlo Calenda via Bloomberg Markets.

Over the past two decades, North Korean-born Han Hun Il, the founding chief executive of a Malaysian conglomerate, funnelled money to the leadership in Pyongyang, a North Korean defector, speaking out for the first time, told Reuters.

Han’s conglomerate, Malaysia Korea Partners (MKP), worked in partnership with Jang Song Thaek, according to Lee Chol Ho, who worked as a trader for Han for nine years until he defected to Seoul in 2010. Jang, the uncle of North Korea's ruler Kim Jong Un, was considered one of North Korea's most powerful men until he was executed for treason in 2013.

Reuters was unable to independently confirm Lee's account of Han's relationship with North Korea's leadership, including his assertion that money was funnelled to North Korea's leadership body, the central committee of the ruling Workers' Party.
