PETALING JAYA: Amanah’s Mohamad Sabu, who was today named by Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the defence minister, has defended the prime minister’s decision to announce him and three others for top Cabinet posts.

Speaking to FMT, Mohamad disagreed with PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli who said that talks were still pending between Mahathir and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim over the choice of Cabinet members, saying the matter had been decided at the Pakatan Harapan presidential meeting.

Mohamad was named by Mahathir for the defence portfolio, while DAP’s Lim Guan Eng is the new finance minister and PPBM’s Muhyiddin Yassin the home minister. PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is appointed as the deputy prime minister as agreed months earlier.

Mohamad said while PH component parties were free to propose candidates for ministerial posts, the prime minister still had the final say.

“It is up to the prime minister to elect. It’s his prerogative,” he said.

DAP officials asks RoS to probe party re-election

PUTRAJAYA: A DAP official has asked the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to investigate the re-election of the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) on Nov 12, alleging that it may not have adhered to regulations.

Santokh Singh (pic), deputy chairman of the DAP Asam Kumbang Branch, claimed that the list of CEC candidates had not been updated and contained the names of people who had died and had left the party.

He said the late DAP chairman, Karpal Singh, garnered 43 votes in the re-election while three people who had left the party also received votes: Zulkifli Mohd Noor (43 votes), as well as John Fernandez and Roseli Abdul Ghani (eight votes each).

It was strange that the appointed accounting firm failed to comply with the regulations, so much so that it caused much dissatisfaction to many, Santokh told reporters after handing over an official complaint to Rahida Mohamed, a representative of RoS, here on Tuesday. – Bernama

2nd founding member, Anina quits PPBM

BANGI: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) founding member Anina Saadudin (pic) has announced her resignation from the party.

"I would like to announce my exit from Pribumi. I will continue my struggles for the people through the NGO platform, which I will announce soon.

"I do not need positions or political power to continue my struggles because Allah gives opportunities to anyone who would fight for the country, race and religion with truth and justice," she said at a press conference on Saturday.

Anina, who was in tears, said she was disillusioned with Pribumi's struggles, claiming that the party no longer practised the principles of justice, transparency and integrity in its administration.

She said that any form of dissent against the party's top leadership is immediately silenced as it was perceived as a threat.

"Members and the people won't criticise the party because any bad remarks is immediately perceived to be aimed at Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

"The party is hiding behind Mahathir. This is wrong. The party is founded for the people," she said referring to the party's chairman.

Anina also slammed Pribumi for her abrupt removal as chief of the party's women's wing Srikandi in December last year.

"There was no black and white at all. At least when I was sacked from Umno, a letter was sent to me. Pribumi is even worse than the people they complained about," she said.

Anina, a former Langkawi Wanita Umno member, was sacked in September last year after openly criticising and initiating court action against party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Anina had last week complained that she did not receive an invitation to Pribumi's first anniversary celebration in Muar, Johor.

She questioned if Pribumi had forgotten about her, as she was one of the seven members who had founded the party.

Anina also claimed that she was expelled from all WhatsApp group chats which consisted of top party leaders.

However, Pribumi president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin refuted Anina's claim, saying that there was no need to send out invitations because the celebration is open to all members.

MENTERI Besar Selangor Mohamed Azmin Ali mahu Perdana Menteri Najib Razak bertanggungjawab atas keganasan yang berlaku di forum "Nothing to Hide 2.0" di Shah Alam, petang tadi.

Menyifatkan tindakan baling kerusi sebagai tidak bertamadun, timbalan presiden PKR itu turut meminta polis menyiasat siapa dalang di sebalik kekecohan yang tercetus.

"Najib perlu bertanggungjawab sepenuhnya atas kesalahan jenayah dan tindakan tidak bertamadun penyokongnya di program 'Nothing to Hide 2.0'.

"Saya mahu Polis Diraja Malaysia melakukan siasatan segera dan mengambil tindakan tegas terhadap dalang dan pelaku insiden yang jelas mengganggu ketenteraman awam.

"Semua pihak di lokasi kejadian diseru bekerjasama dengan pihak berkuasa bagi membolehkan siasatan dapat dilengkapkan dengan segera," katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

Beliau berkata cara mengubah Malaysia adalah dengan melalui pilihan raya aman dan bersih.

"Setelah takut berhujah, Najib menggunakan gengsterisme untuk menutup mulut Dr Mahathir dan ia tindakan pengecut," kata ahli Parlimen Gombak itu.

Dah menjadi kebiasaan pemimpin pembangkang buat tuduhan melulu even siasatan polis masih berjalan. And pengikut mati2x percaya and angguk2x. What a joke.

Lowyat kopitiam promoting racism

Its been almost a month I've reading topics posted in kopitiam lowyat and to my surprise, racism, in any mean, blooms like there is no more fertile land than here.

I'm questioning if there is even a single responsible moderator, at least, trying to give strict warning even to the slightest hint of racism flaming terms, statements or even intentions.

Failing to take this seriously, I might start collecting evidences and escalate this website to higher authority for just review and revision.
