Does travel insurance matters?

When it comes to travel insurance, there are many types to it and you have to do research on it as to which will fit your needs. As I said, there are many types of travel insurance available out there and some of them that you might be familiar with are the packages plan that covers your cruises travel, vacations and general travel, family trips, domestic and foreign travel and even any traveller concerned about losing money due to a cancelled trip.

So it's up to you to do your homework and purchase travel insurance wisely.

At the moment, I am using Kurnia's travel insurance plan as it fits what I am looking for. This is mainly because they cover almost everything a traveller's insurance is needed but again, its all up to you to choose. There are many other insurance companies out there in Malaysia that offers similar or a slightly different plan.

Aside all those things mention above, travel insurance is basically designed to help travellers when the unforeseen happens when travelling. Below are all the things that a travel insurance covers:

Personal accident
- Accidental death: The worst thing that could ever happen while you're on holiday.
- Permanent disability: An accident that leaves you unable to work or care for your family
- Lost of limbs or sight: Injury that prevents you from ever working again.

Medical related
- Medical expenses
- Follow-up treatment in Malaysia
- Medical evacuation and transportation in Malaysia
- Hospital fees
- Visiting allowance
- Traditional or alternative medicine
- Child care
- Education fund
- Funeral in Malaysia

Travel inconvenience (The much needed part of a travel insurance or when it comes to travelling)
- Loss of luggage and personal belongings
- Loss of passport and money
- Outstanding credit card and expenses
- Loss of travel deposit due to cancellation
- Luggage delay
- Travel delay
- Travel interruption
- Third party liability
- Hijacking
- Denied boarding
- Missed departure
- Travel re-route
- Home care
- Emergency accomodation
- Loss or damage to rental car
- Emergency mobile phone fees

The above are the unforeseen circumstances when it comes to travelling. Having insurance to cover all those aspects would give you a peace of mind while travelling.
