Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh (left in photo) has sprung to the defence of the international school students who received criticism for a performance which depicted oil palm in a negative light.

"I am the MP for the area where this international school is located.

"The uproar over the video and presentation by children related to orangutans and sustainable palm oil industry is unfortunate," she said in a Facebook post today.

"The video in circulation is only a small cut of a 24-minute performance by Year 3 students (7-8 years old). The students performed this at their weekly assembly. The performance covered a wide range of issues concerning the environment from climate change, global warming, solar energy, protection of oceans, plastic use, recycling effort to preservation of orangutan, and the forest."

"I have personally watched the full video, and I am convinced that there was no agenda to undermine the government's effort to promote palm oil," said Yeoh, who is also deputy women, family and community development minister.

Her reaction contrasts starkly with fellow DAP leader, Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok, who was far from amused over the performance.

Urging the headmaster and teachers to stop emulating European countries, Kok accused them of doing a disservice to the nation and spreading "untrue and one-sided" messages to the children.

She equated the action as "sabotage" of the ministry's efforts to promote palm oil.

Striking a conciliatory tone, Yeoh said she welcomed Kok's statement today to engage in dialogue with the school and students.

"After all, this is the essence of education - to equip the next generation with information and the opportunity to make an assessment of the situation on their own without coercion," she said.

She did, however, hit out at those who were sharing the video indiscriminately.

"I appeal to you to stop circulating it as it shows the faces of these children. Children have rights too, and it is about time Malaysians learn to respect that," she said.

for a family with 2 small kids who currently have 1 myvi and want to upgrade for extra cabin space / boot space as myvi pack like sardin oredy

CRV - only continue pay loan for ~3 years (from 9yrs loan), RM1k monthly then can keep the car. Condition still ok, owner is a close relative and car is well taken care of

HRV - most prob opt for used 2017 around RM70k, bear 5yrs loan for RM1k++ monthly. condition cannot really tell because buy from used car shop

McDonald's franchising - come share some insight

So i am planning to open a mcd franchise and i right now at very very early stage of research. Posting here also part of research I have yet to go over to mcd HQ in uptown for further explanation due to workload, but have called and emailed them about this with no replies yet. So hoping anyone with same experience or information can share here.

From what i have gathered through limited resources on the net:

1. Costs over RM 1mil, which i can bare with a funder + loan maybe from PUNB (need to own not less than 30% of cost, other can loan)

2. Must attend interview, 1 year training and sit for test all without any income, which i think can manage with my savings+help from waifu

3. Outlet - depends either open new or take over one of Gerbang Alaf owned outlets, most probably the latter

4. Experience - i read they only want someone with vast business experience before. Is it true?

5. Franchise term - 20 years

6. Various monthly fees to master franchisor (% of monthly sales)

What i want to know is, if anyone have the answer to

1. Outlet location - i'm from KL but i have a place in mind outside of KL (other state). Sure they will not give up a very high traffic ones, which is why i'm thinking of one in other state down south. Do they entertain these kind of requests, or they just place u wherever take it or leave it?

2. Is having business experience really the main key for getting chosen? If yes than its trouble because my business experience very limited one

3. If get selected for training, does that mean confirm get or not? if can fail, then 1 year wasted

4. They have taken out the application for franchisee part from their website, so if anyone have their latest application criteria care to share here?

5. Plan B - if this doesn't work out somehow, can anyone suggest a plan B? i mean i'm able to secure the startup cost of opening a Mcd, so preferably some other franchise ideas with about the same capacity.

Any other discussion, points, advice are welcome!

how do u actually jump work from 1 professional field to another after years of working in that field? i mean for example from doing IT to doing something else like marketing or advertising or etc - something that doesn't require specific set of technical knowledge like architect or doctor. All jobs need diploma/degree in their particular field which obviously i dont have, although i do have some graphic design experience through freelancing but that wouldn't land me a job. even if i do get a job, must start again from very low salary. my income now not that big but still can support my family. go lower than that, probably need to bring family move in to parents house so other than start my own business with no steady income to support family, am i technically stuck with IT forever?

*i'm surfing lyn during work with office pc while boss sits directly in front shows how uninterested i am with my work

Recently make a personal loan

I recently make a personal loan of rm30k because urgently needed that money for something. After few months i now got back all the needed amount to make full settlement. Want to ask /k advice which is best either to just do full settlement or is it better to use that cash for any investment and bare monthly payment? If invest, later after finish repayment can enjoy collect dividen from investment. Tbh this is only 1 time opportunity i have this much cash in account as i dont have /k salary

Is it cheaper to run or drive 100km?
