my very close fren whatsapp kena hack, he happen to always ask me to transfer money here n there but this time scammer impersonate him, so i transfer from my ryt bank acc to the scammer mule acc $2689 also ryt bank acc

after transfer scammer said aiya still short 3k ask me to transfer more at that moment i realize i kena scam liao

i immediately call ryt customer service, roughly about 10min after the transfer, told the ryt bank staff on the fon, she immediately block the mule acc to prevent scammer withdrawal. excellent respond.

kena scan on Wednesday, Friday got my money back, ryt bank only requested me for the police report. greatest bank ever.

if i use conventional banks n transfer to conventional banks ie mbb pbb hlb cimb ambank abmb uob ocbc etc my money is gone, these banks required the victim to make police report first, then go to the branch submit then wait, by that time scammer already transfer out the money from the mule account. conventional banks protect the scammers

Recently, I became a victim of a WhatsApp scam after my good friend’s account was hacked. The scammer impersonated my friend and urgently asked me to transfer $2,689 to a bank account. Trusting that the request was genuine, I proceeded to transfer the money using Ryt Bank to what later turned out to be a scammer’s mule account within the same bank.

Approximately ten minutes after the transfer, I realized that I had been deceived. I immediately contacted Ryt Bank’s customer service hotline to report the incident. The response from the bank was both swift and highly professional. Their staff took immediate action to block the suspicious mule account, preventing the scammer from withdrawing the funds.

Following a prompt investigation, I was informed two days later that the full amount of $2,689 had been successfully recovered and returned to my account.

If the transfer had been made from, to conventional banks like Maybank, Public Bank Berhad, or Hong Leong Bank, it might have been very difficult to recover the money because conventional banks are often reluctant to block the scammer bank account.

I am truly impressed by the speed, responsibility, and decisive action demonstrated by Ryt Bank. Their quick response not only prevented further loss but also gave me confidence that the bank places the highest priority on safeguarding its customers.

In today’s environment where online scams are increasingly common, the ability of a bank to act immediately and effectively is crucial. My experience clearly shows that Ryt Bank has the systems, dedication, and customer-first mindset necessary to respond to such situations.

ALOR SETAR: A trader incurred losses amounting to more than RM1mil after falling victim to an investment scam syndicate on Facebook.

Kedah Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Supt Loi Yew Lik said the 57-year-old victim lodged a report at the Kulim police station on May 9.
The victim clicked on a link sent to him before being added to a WhatsApp group. Initially, the victim invested RM2,000 and received a profit of RM780.

“Over time, the victim made 21 additional investments, transferring over RM1mil to the bank account number provided by the suspect,” he said in a statement yesterday.

When the promised returns did not materialise, the suspect demanded an extra RM900,000 to recover the invested money, Bernama reported.

“The victim refused to make the additional payment as he began to suspect he had been deceived. Investigations revealed that the Facebook page was fake and used the name of an international investment company,” he said.

BATU PAHAT: A 49-year-old accountant lost RM776,000 of her hard-earned savings to a fake cryptocurrency scheme.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the woman came across the investment scheme advertisement on Facebook in October last year and decided to try it.

“She got in touch with four individuals through WhatsApp under the impression that she was purchasing some cryptocurrency.

“She also provided them her personal information, including MyKad and bank account numbers for registration purposes.

“The victim then made payments amounting to RM776,000 into 23 different bank accounts in phases,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 31).

He added that the victim thought she had made handsome profits after checking her app and wanted to cash out the money.

However, she was told to make a 1% payment of the profits to do so.
