KUALA LUMPUR: The government is drafting new shariah laws to make it clear that Muslim adults must support their elderly or dependent parents.
Religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said this would involve a bill to give shariah courts the power to order the payments of parental maintenance (nafkah), as well as changes to the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) Act 1984.

The new laws are expected to be tabled in March before being enacted next year.

Na’im said Islam already demands that Muslims support parents who are poor or unable to work.

“The government is committed to ensuring that Muslims carry out their duty of supporting their parents who are old, have no income, or cannot support themselves, especially as we move towards becoming an ageing nation by 2030.

“Through the shariah judiciary department, the government is taking proactive steps to draft a new law… with clearer and more specific provisions on nafkah and the care of parents,” he told the Dewan Rakyat in response to a question from Aminolhuda Hassan (PH-Sri Gading).

The minister said the amendment to the Islamic Family Law (Federal Territories) Act 1984 would be brought to the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs to serve as a model law for all states.

Na’im said some shariah courts already used broad provisions in state Islamic laws to order Muslims to support their parents.

However, there are no clear laws for salary-deduction orders, which he said would be addressed in the proposed law.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pindaan undang-undang terperinci berhubung nafkah ibu bapa dijangka dibentangkan di Dewan Rakyat pada Mac tahun depan bagi memastikan kewajiban anak menanggung nafkah ibu bapa uzur dapat dilaksanakan dengan berkesan menjelang Malaysia status negara tua 2030.

Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Hal Ehwal Agama), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, berkata pada masa sama advokasi berkaitan akan diteruskan sementara menunggu pindaan terhadap undang-undang Mahkamah Syariah serta Undang-Undang Keluarga Islam dimuktamadkan.

"Kerajaan MADANI melalui Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Malaysia (JKSM) sedang membuat pindaan undang-undang baharu Undang-undang Mahkamah Syariah dengan memasukkan punca kuasa jelas dan khusus berkaitan nafkah serta jagaan ibu bapa dalam undang-undang itu.

"Usaha ini bertujuan memastikan mahkamah syariah mempunyai bidang kuasa menangani tuntutan membabitkan kebajikan ibu bapa yang uzur atau tidak berupaya dengan lebih berkesan.

"Selain itu, Jabatan Kemajuan Islam (JAKIM) juga sedang melaksanakan semakan menyeluruh terhadap Undang-Undang Keluarga Islam 1984 termasuk menilai keperluan memperincikan peruntukan berkaitan nafkah ibu bapa supaya lebih selari dan responsif kepada keperluan masyarakat serta realiti semasa masyarakat Islam di negara ini," katanya pada Sesi Waktu Pertanyaan-Pertanyaan Menteri (MQT)di Dewan Rakyat, di sini, hari ini.

Beliau berkata demikian menjawab Aminolhuda Hassan (PH-Sri Gading) mengenai langkah kerajaan dalam menambahbaik peruntukan undang-undang keluarga Islam sedia ada bagi mewajibkan nafkah ibu bapa seperti dituntut hukum syarak khususnya apabila ibu bapa berada dalam keadaan uzur, tidak berpendapatan atau tidak mampu menyara diri sendiri.

Mohd Naím berkata, semakan itu bagi membolehkan kerajaan menilai secara lebih menyeluruh sama ada peruntukan sedia ada sudah memadai atau terdapat keperluan untuk penelitian lanjut terhadap aspek berkaitan nafkah ibu bapa dalam undang-undang keluarga Islam.

"Pada masa ini, penyediaan draft undang-undang itu sedang digerakkan secara aktif melalui proses penelitian perundangan dan membabitkan libat urus bersama pihak berkepentingan serta semakan teknikal bagi memastikan penggubalan itu benar-benar menepati keperluan masyarakat dan prinsip hukum syarak," katanya.

Menjawab soalan mengenai mekanisme yang dilaksanakan oleh JAKIM, Mohd Na'im berkata, penyelarasan itu membabitkan Jawatankuasa Perundangan Islam Kebangsaan (JPIK), Majlis Kebangsaan Bagi Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Malaysia (MKI) dan Majlis Dialog Perundangan Islam Kebangsaan untuk memastikan model undang-undang persekutuan boleh diterima pakai di semua negeri.

"Hal ehwal Islam terletak di bawah bidang kuasa negeri menurut Perlembagaan Persekutuan. Namun dalam konteks penyelarasan, JAKIM berperanan merangka satu undang-undang model yang boleh dijadikan rujukan negeri-negeri bagi memastikan keseragaman pelaksanaan di seluruh negara.

"Namun proses ini mengambil masa, maka sementara menunggu pindaan dimuktamadkan, kerajaan laksana advokasi melalui kursus pra dan pasca perkahwinan, program pendidikan keluarga serta hebahan melalui TV Al-Hijrah dan IKIM bagi meningkatkan kesedaran tentang kewajiban anak menyara ibu bapa," katanya

KULIM: A woman and her young daughter were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a house in Taman Perak here yesterday.

Kulim police chief Superintendent Zulkifli Azizan said officers arrived about midnight to find the body of the 30-year-old factory operator, while her four-year-old daughter was discovered dead on a mattress nearby.

A seven-year-old boy – the woman's son – survived, but was found with marks on his neck and injuries to his jaw.

Zulkifli said preliminary investigations suggest the woman attempted to kill both children before taking her own life, believed to have been driven by emotional distress linked to a relationship dispute.

Neighbours rushed over after the boy managed to escape and called for help. They found the woman's body and alerted police.

Two handwritten notes were found in the living room, in which the woman apologised and stated her intention to end her life. Identification documents belonging to her and the two children were recovered beside the notes.

Zulkifli said a forensic sweep ruled out forced entry, and no external injuries were found on the deceased apart from those consistent with strangulation and smothering.

The bodies have been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star for post-mortem examinations, while the surviving child is being treated at Kulim Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempted murder) of the Penal Code.

Unker is old from dinosaur generation. Nowadays see youngsters no longer have decent respectfulness towards older ppl.

I notice in workforce boss oso no respek. Some of the bosses are ok like talk with friend friend tone, but cannot apply the same towards everyone lo. Sometimes with client also immediately wanna bro-bro, dafaq

Very rare sight to see kids bow down in front of elders. Not only that, even towards gomen staff, pulis, doktor, teachers. Don’t even begin towards recruiters, writing emails and all.

Sumtime respect not necessarily apply toward ppl of power. Even towards blue collar workers, other ppl on road, others arnd u, ur environment, yourself. But ppl just nonchalantly go about their day being so full of themselves. Always look down on others, ownself is most impo. Everyday is about ME ME ME ME ME. And then bekam blind to everyone else.

‘THE JOKOWI EFFECT’
Joko Widodo – popularly known as Jokowi – is something of a rockstar. The first Indonesian leader not drawn from the country’s established political or military elite since its hard-won independence from the Dutch in 1949, he was born and raised in a riverside slum in Surakarta. From there, he fought to become mayor of his hometown in 2005, then governor of Jakarta in 2012, then President two years later.

Every step of the way, Widodo has battled bureaucracy and corruption while pursuing programs to deliver universal healthcare, economic growth, radical infrastructure development, and material improvements to the lives of average citizens. When Jakarta hosted the G20 Summit that year, he invited not only Zelensky but Putin to attend despite fierce Western criticism.

My observation:

Elderly white tourist (age 60+) are usually ok. Respectful and low profile. Spend a lot on accommodations and travels but haggle a bit when buying. But soft haggling la, nothing aggressive.

Middle age white tourist with a lot of children tend to be karens. Quite annoying especially at hotels and eateries. But those 30+ with 1 kid are usually ok.

Young white tourist can vary. Sometimes they’re ok n respectful, keep to ownself and can mingle with locals. Some are super obnoxious, loud and disrespectful towards locals, especially those vlogger type.

Never had any bad experience with japan tourist. Quiet and respectful.

Mainland china….ho boii.

But taiwanese usually are great people. Idk why they differ so much.

Hong kong….. 50/50. Met some rich dignified hongkies who are proper. Met some that are totally loud and syok sendiri.

Rich arabs spend a lotttttttttt but can be annoying. They act like they’re better than u. Majority come with families with their pack of children. Young arabs that travel without their family usually gila ones who party and drink a lot. Can be rude and loud also.

Surprise surprise most black african I met are superrrrr friendly and respectful. There’s a bunch that are loud and disrespectful but mostly are great. But they like to tokok a lot lol.

Never met a Korean tourist
