Disappeared LAN/Local Area Connection Icon

i was surfing and downloading as usual, but suddenly my computer blackedout and auto restarted . this rarely happened but it happened before, a few months ago but nothing happened so i thought it just went bonkers once in a while . but after it's done restarting, although everything seemed normal, but i couldn't connect to the internet. even the icon of local area connection in the network connections were gone and the small monitor we often see at the taskbar weren't there as well. i tried recovering the local area connection but the "help" menu stated that it is detected automatically so i removed my network card and put it in another slots, but still, the results were the same - computer function normally but local area connection icon is missing and i couldn't get online .. anyone had idea of wutz happening?
