There are so many Malaysians who are racists towards those who are from Africa, and I have a Nigerian friend who's quite educated.

However, he said he hated Malaysians because so many of you judge him based on his skin colour.

Why you Malaysians so racist? Cakap want to live harmony with other races but Africans you racist?

Is good customer service illogical?

Think about it.

A lot of people, of course, expects good customer service, and as such, many companies follow suit.

But many people have provided their experiences about how sucky a customer service job is because it has mainly to do with tolerating unreasonable customers.

With a huge amount of people who have bad experiences working in the customer service industry, why do, as customers still expect good customer service?

Isn't it more logical to expect bad customer service instead? Wouldn't the expectation good customer service be the same as WISHFUL THINKING?

In short:

P1: A lot of people hate working in customer service.
P2: Therefore most customer service is bad.
Conclusion: It's more logical to expect bad customer service, and not good customer service.

Euthyphro dilemma

QUOTE

The dilemma has had a major effect on the philosophical theism of the monotheistic religions, but in a modified form: "Is what is morally good commanded by God because it is morally good, or is it morally good because it is commanded by God?"

Problems with two horns:

The first horn of the dilemma i.e. that which is right is commanded by God because it is right.

First horn problem:

Sovereignty: If there are moral standards independent of God's will, then "there is something over which God is not sovereign. God is bound by the laws of morality instead of being their establisher. Moreover, God depends for his goodness on the extent to which he conforms to an independent moral standard. Thus, God is not absolutely independent."

=========================================

The second horn of the dilemma, i.e. that which is right is right because it is commanded by God.

Second horn problem:

Anything goes: This arbitrariness would also mean that anything could become good, and anything could become bad, merely upon God's command.

Question: Do any of you guys have any thoughts on the problems on both horns?

About the PHD school thread.

PHD school was supposed to be a place for "Serious discussions about serious issues surrounding science, humanities and philosophy".

So why don't see many serious discussions about any of those things, but mainly of questions about doing someone's homework, people asking whether they should pursue their PHDs or even about how to pursue a PHD?
