Suggestion on a gaming pc

I use macbook pro for my programming work. Then I switch to my old windows pc for gaming purpose. I would like to get a new gaming pc.

I have about RM 5000 budget but willing to spend more depending on the specs.

The current games I play are mostly Dota 2 and CSGO. I do play AAA titles from time to time but my current pc is unable to give me good FPS.

Some requirement : at least 500GB SSD, can support Dota 2 with high settings - at least 150 FPS, CSGO with low settings - at least 250-300FPS. Ability to support future AAA titles with good FPS

Any recommendation?

DevOps Developer

Recently, my new job put me in a DevOps Team. I wanted to do software development like c#, .NET and java but they said the development team timeline is very tight and stress so they do not let junior join the development team, therefore they put me in the DevOps Team. They told me that I'm still a developer, just that I'm in the DevOps Team.

From what I have heard, DevOps team will mainly focus on Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery(CI/CD), it is mainly to automate a lot of process. I won't really write code like c#/javascript in the DevOps team but I may need to write scripts such as Powershell Script in the DevOps team. One of the CI/CD stuff I'm going to do is integrate Jenkins with Jira. Jenkins is a tool for automating process. Jira is a tool that is used to track bugs and issue in a program. In short, when the development team write code and check in/build, AUTOMATICALLY the Jenkins will run unit tests/web api tests on the program. If there is any bug/issue in the program then it will AUTOMATICALLY add the issue in the listing of issues in Jira and AUTOMATICALLY send email to notify all the development team members so they can fix the issue.

I don't know if DevOps is good for my career. Anyone knows what is DevOps and whether it has good career prospect in Malaysia?

Parking/Public Transport to Menara Perak

Hi guys, I'm going to work at Menara Perak this coming Monday. My officlal working hour is 8-5 but is flexible working hour also, so maybe 9-6 or even 10-7. I can drive and have a car. So I want to know whether there is any parking near Menara Perak or how do I get there using public transport?

For Parking:
-SAFE IS TOP PRIORITY!
-The best is have a season pass/monthly pass.
-Second best is per entry.
-I try to avoid hourly rate unless it's really really cheap after accumulating all the parking hours.
-The parking place won't flood when rain
-My ideal parking fee per month is around RM200 or less than that.

For Public Transport:
-SAFE IS TOP PRIORITY!
-For your info, I will be taking Star LRT from Cempaka LRT station. So feel free to tell me how to go to Menara Perak from Cempaka LRT station, or any exchange I need to make(E.g monorail, putra lrt etc)
-Since I will be walking to Menara Perak, I hope the walking distance wont get me whole body wet when it rains

Thank you everyone in advance for the help

Permanent job at IT companies

Hey guys, I need your suggestion on some IT companies. I have IT background, want to do preferably software development as my permanent job. I dislike jumping/switching companies so I want to know which companies are worth to stay(probably until I reach 40 years old or more). ASSUMING they wont fire me haha. Since I want to work for that company for a long time, I want to make sure it fits some of my "ideal requirements" haha. Therefore, I need your suggestion on what are the some companies that have few of the requirements.

Requirements (Not a must to have all actually, as long as the company has some of them then can already):

1. Good salary (I dont need the salary to be super high or what, as long as it's not underpay then it's fine)
2. Dress code is smart casual (Prefer to wear t-shirt rather than shirt haha)
3. Nice working environment (cool interior design, some fun facilities e.g. gym, pool, table tennis table etc)
4. Occasional OT (I know you cant really avoid OT in IT field so I dont really mind OT but not to the extent everyday OT until 12am and then weekend still have to work)
5. Nice working colleagues (I know this is very subjective haha. Since I will work there for a long time, it will be nice to have some friendly colleagues)
6. Career advancement (It will be nice if I have the opportunity to go up to the management level haha)

That's all for the "requirements". Like I said, I dont really expect there is a company out there that meets all these requirements so I'll be pretty satisfied as long as the company has some of these requirement.

E.g. Company A pay good salary, wear smart casual, cool working environment but everyday OT and not much career advancement. Well, I dont mind considering that company actually haha.

So guys, please suggest some companies I believe there are IT people out there that would like to know about this also. Peace out!

Please give me some feedback on ASUS ROG GL752VW

Hi all, so i wanted to buy a new laptop and i have my eyes on the ASUS ROG GL752VW. I just want to get some feedback about this laptop from sifus and if it fits what i want.

To begin with,

1. Background: I'm currently a final year student, majoring in IT.
2. Budget: RM 3.5k - rm 4.5k

I'm doing a final year project which involves coding for a rather large size of data(my FYP supervisor say the worst case is the program will takes up to few hours of processing if my coding is not efficient enough TT, dont know he lie or what), so hopefully the new laptop can support the processing need. It does not have to be instantly, just not to the point of 5 to 6 hours. I'm sorry if it sounds vague, I haven't even started the FYP yet so I dont know how big is the project, but i think the supervisor just try to scare me only.

I also like to play games. The only game I play right now is DotA 2. My current laptop is already 7 years old, it runs very slow. I put lowest graphic setting in Dota2, I still get like average 30fps only, sometimes it can go up to 50 if lucky. It makes the gaming experience very bad for me.

So my priority sequence is
1. Gaming(Dota2, hehe I'm a huge fanboy of Dota2, currently 4.6k mmr so i hope to get smooth gameplay on it)
2. Final year project(Not too much concerns on this actually because FYP only lasts for like 1 semester then I'm going for internship)
3. For working purpose(I'm graduating soon, I dont know if I want to be programmer/software engineer or a network engineer, still thinking)
4. Other entertainment purpose(watch movie,music)

I did some researches and I like the ASUS ROG GL752VW. It also fits in my budget(RM4299 right? I'm not sure if price changes). But I feel that I want some feedback from you guys because I dont want to regret this decision. Do you think this laptop can fits my needs? I'm not rich leh, I'm using PTPTN money to buy this

Other than feedback, I have 2 questions that I hope can get answers from all sifus:

1. When I do my researches, I saw GL752VW has 3 models?
-GL752VW-T4168T
-GL752VW-DH71
-GL752VW-T4255D

What are the differences? Are they the same, just different name for different countries?? The one I like and found most information is GL752VW-T4168T.

2. If this laptop can satisfy my needs, may I know where can I get this laptop? If lowyat plaza, can all sifus tell me the name of the shop too? Because I'm not too familiar with Lowyat Plaza as I dont go there often, I scare I'll walk into the wrong shop
