UM vs UIAM/IIUM in English Literature

I am planning to further my studies by taking up a Master's in English Literature. I was planning to do it overseas but finally decided that I couldn't afford to do so, so I settled with local institutions.

I am aware UM definitely has better reputation being the oldest institution and of course offers one of the best English courses in our country. But after doing my research I found that I prefer the UIAM/IIUM course structure for M.HSc in English Literary studies more than UM's MA in English Literature. This is probably due to the fact that my 1st degree is not in anyway related to Literature.

However, I still have doubt about UIAM/IIUM. I've heard news about its law graduate recently and are frankly afraid that its English Courses are not up to expectations as well.

Please bear in mind that though I know doing my Master's in English Lit is probably not the best choice career wise but I plan to write (research/books/articles/etc), become a lecturer for a living and hopefully to get published internationally one day but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I love to write and I would like to improve my writing skills. I choose this because I have no better choice here in Malaysia. I was going to take MA Creative Writing in UK but funding for Arts/Humanities courses are not much and competitions are very high. I might not be eligible anyway.

I was hoping if anybody who has any experience studying the said course or just have any knowledge about this can share whatever they know with me.

Thanks
