Israel, US readying for renewed strikes on Iran for as early as next week

Israel and the United States are undergoing the most intense preparations since last month’s ceasefire for renewed attacks on Iran, seeking to be ready as early as next week, The New York Times reports, citing two Middle East officials.

According to US officials, one of the options for an operation would include putting commandos on the ground to extract nuclear material buried under rubble.

Such a complicated operation would risk several casualties, as it would require thousands of supporting forces to create a perimeter around an operations area, and likely engage with Iranian ground troops, military officials tell the Times.

Troops could also be used to conquer Kharg Island, a key Iranian oil export hub in the Persian Gulf, officials add.

Another option would include more intense bombing of Iranian military and infrastructure sites, US officials say.

Israel launched its campaign against Iran, alongside the US, to degrade the Iranian regime’s military capabilities, distance threats posed by Iran — including its nuclear and ballistic missile programs — and “create the conditions” for the Iranian people to topple the regime, the military and other Israeli leaders have said.

The ceasefire reached last month has left those declared goals unfulfilled.

Trump: The US strikes were “just a love tap"

US President Donald Trump says three US Navy destroyers transited out of the Strait of Hormuz under fire, adding that the American destroyers were not damaged but “great damage was done to Iranian attackers.”

Earlier, Trump tells a reporter from ABC News that the recent US strikes were “just a love tap” and adds that “the ceasefire is going. It’s in effect.”

On Truth Social, Trump writes that the US attacked Iranian seacraft that fired at US Navy ships.

“Three World Class American Destroyers just transited, very successfully, out of the Strait of Hormuz, under fire. There was no damage done to the three Destroyers, but great damage done to the Iranian attackers,” Trump writes on Truth Social.

“They were completely destroyed along with numerous small boats,” he says.

He threatens Iran with further attacks unless it agrees to a deal in ongoing talks with the US.

“A normal country would have allowed these destroyers to pass, but Iran is not a normal country. They are led by LUNATICS, and if they had the chance to use a nuclear weapon, they would do it, without question,” he writes. “But they’ll never have that opportunity and, just like we knocked them out again today, we’ll knock them out a lot harder, and a lot more violently, in the future, if they don’t get their deal signed, FAST!”

Israel Navy: Condoms and drugs found aboard

Organizers of a flotilla sailing to the Gaza Strip publish footage in which an Israeli Navy officer can be heard calling on the activists to change course.

“If you wish to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, you may do so through established and recognized channels. Please change course and return to the port of origin. If you are carrying humanitarian aid, you are invited to proceed to the port of Ashdod,” the officer can be heard saying.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry publishes a video it says shows “condoms and drugs” that were found aboard one of the vessels that has been intercepted by the Israeli Navy.

US President Donald Trump requested on Tuesday that the Iranian leaders release eight women who are expected to soon be executed by the regime.

"I would greatly appreciate the release of these women," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "I am sure that they will respect the fact that you did so. Please do them no harm!"

He added that the women's release would be a good start to negotiations between Iran and the US.

US Navy fires on Iran ship after warnings ignored

Iranian ship tried to get past US naval blockade seized

An Iranian-flagged cargo ship sustained significant damage and was taken into custody by the US Marine safter it tried to get past the naval blockade, President Donald Trump announced in a post on Truth Social on Sunday.

According to Trump, the ship was named Touska and was given fair warning before a US Navy ship attacked it. "The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room," he said.

Trump also mentioned that Touska is under US Treasury sanctions due to its "prior history of illegal activity."

The US Central Command confirmed the attack against the Iranian vessel, saying that it was performed by guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance, which intercepted the ship as it transited the north Arabian Sea at 17 knots en route to Bandar Abbas, Iran.

The ship was given a six-hour period to comply with the US, after which the American destroyer disabled the Touska propulsion system. US Marines later boarded the ship and took custody of it.

Costa Rica designates IRGC, Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis as terrorist organizations

Costa Rica joins other European, Latin American countries in recently designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

Costa Rica designated late Wednesday night Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Yemen's Houthis as terror organizations, the country's Foreign Ministry confirmed.

The government made the decision on Monday, according to the announcement.

This was adopted "in accordance with Costa Rica's international commitments in fighting terrorism and its financing," the ministry wrote on X/Twitter.

It will "allow intelligence authorities and judicial bodies to strengthen their prevention, investigation, and prosecution capabilities, acting more decisively against any logistical and financial support networks that may be operating within the country to sustain these organizations," it added.

"Likewise, the designation seeks to prevent any form of action or influence by these groups in Costa Rica, safeguarding the security of the population and integrity of our democratic institutions," the ministry stated.

The announcement from Argentina says the decision was made in response to a statement from the Iranian foreign ministry “which contained false, offensive, and improper accusations against the Republic of Argentina.”

The Iranian statement marked a significant point of tension with Argentina, strongly condemning “the illegal and unjustified action” of President Javier Milei’s government. It described Milei’s decision to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group “an unforgivable offense against the Iranian people.”

Argentina designates Iran’s Revolutionary Guards as a terror organization

Argentina has designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, its presidential office says, following a push from the Trump administration for allies to do so.

Argentina attributed the measure to the IRGC’s backing for Lebanon-based Hezbollah, which it blames for the deadliest bombing in the South American nation’s history, a 1994 terrorist attack on the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires that killed 85 and injured hundreds.

The presidential office says the measure allows for the implementation of financial sanctions and other operational restrictions.

The IRGC is an elite military force whose purpose is to protect Shi’ite Muslim clerical rule in Iran. It controls large parts of Iran’s economy.

Both the IRGC and Hezbollah are already designated as terrorist groups by the United States and some other countries.

Iran is weaker than ever, its ‘axis of terror is beginning to collapse

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir says “the Iranian regime’s axis of terror is beginning to collapse,” according to remarks released by the military from his meeting earlier this week with US Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper.

The IDF says Zamir and Cooper “spoke about the importance of cooperation between the two militaries in the operation against the Iranian regime and coordinated the next steps” during their meeting.

“Through synchronized and coordinated action, together we are striking the Iranian terror regime and making it both strategically isolated and weaker than it has ever been before,” Zamir is quoted as saying.

“The strategic partnership with our ally is a tremendous source of strength and its level is unprecedented in this operation,” he says.

Zamir adds that “the Iranian regime’s axis of terror is beginning to collapse, and we will continue to strike until our objectives are reached.”

Earlier, CENTCOM Spokesperson Cpt. Tim Hawkins said that the two military leaders “discussed progress made during ongoing operations to eliminate Iran’s ability to project power in meaningful ways outside its borders.”

The Times of Israel reported on Sunday that Cooper and Zamir met to discuss the ongoing joint campaign against Iran.

Cooper also met with Defense Minister Israel Katz for “a strategic coordination meeting to deepen the achievement and strengthen cooperation against Iran,” the defense minister’s office says.

Kuwait is softening stance on Israel

Public perceptions of Israel in Kuwait have started to shift since the outbreak of the war with Iran, Kuwaiti dissident Jasem Aljuraid told The Jerusalem Post late on Sunday night.

Kuwait, like many other countries in the region, has not been spared by the Islamic regime despite having no relations with Israel. On Monday, a worker was killed after the regime struck a desalination plant and a key power station.

“They see that Israel is throwing and shooting missiles that pass Kuwait's airspace going towards Iran,” Aljuraid said. “This is an unprecedented time for Kuwaitis to change their perspective and their opinion about Israel.“

Aljuraid spoke with The Post just days after delivering an impassioned address at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, where he denounced atrocities committed by the Islamic regime, condemned what he described as entrenched anti-Israel double standards among member states and criticized the historical revisionist efforts to paint the Jewish state as a colonialist force.

“We need to join ventures and point out our strategic enemy and try to topple the IRGC and their militias,” he asserted.

“I wasn't wrong. Israel went after Hamas. Israel went after Hezbollah. They freed Lebanon. They freed the Palestinians from Hamas in Gaza. They went after the Houthis. They weakened the Houthis. Now, Yemenis have a new government, whether we agree with the new government or not.

Israel's impact is unbelievable. I don't think that there are more important countries than Israel and the UAE in the region today. And I wasn't wrong about this, and that's why I went to the UN, and I gave that speech.”
