P/E ratio variation - CIMB

Hi guys,

This may sound like newbie question, and hope you guys don't mind I am opening a new topic for this, cuz the question I am asking is something quite detailed.

Basically, I have been assessing P/E ratio for CIMB, and I find variation in its P/E ratio (based on current price at RM5.67) , in the following links/sources:

Bursa Malaysia - Total EPS for entire year of 2016 = 41 cents, thus resulting in P/E=13.82

Investing.com - P/E = 13.78

ycharts.com - P/E = 11.99

A mobile app I am using called "stock master" - shows that the EPS = 36 cents with P/E = 15.59

So I wonder, why is the difference? And which one is most commonly used?

I heard about diluted EPS, basic EPS ....so is the EPS shown in a financial statement of a company normally the basic EPS?

And for the P/E ratio on ycharts.com, it shows 9.9 cents for diluted EPS, however when I calculated using that value against the share price, it does not really add up to 11.99 also.

So I am quite confused here. Any kind sifu willing to help me out here I will be very grateful

For the young men out there

Frequent masturbation in young men is linked to higher risk of early prostate cancer, but it lowers prostate cancer risk for men in their 50s, a study shows.

High levels of male sex hormones, or androgens, may increase a man's risk of prostate cancer. But different studies of this question, done in different ways, have reached different conclusions.

To look at the question in a new way, a team of researchers at England's University of Nottingham looked at whether men with more intense sex drives were at higher risk of prostate cancer.

Polyxeni Dimitropoulou, PhD; Rosalind Eeles, PhD, FRCP; and Kenneth R. Muir, PhD, obtained detailed sexual histories from 840 men. About half the men got prostate cancer by age 60, and about half did not have cancer.

The findings were surprising. Sexual intercourse did not affect prostate cancer risk. But frequent masturbation did -- in different ways, at different times of life.

"Frequent masturbation during men's 20s and 30s increased their risk of prostate cancer," Dimitropoulou tells WebMD. "But men in their 50s who masturbated frequently had decreased risk."

Of course, masturbation frequency is relative.

For men in their 20s, "frequent masturbation" was two to seven times per week. Compared to same-age men who reported masturbating less than once per month, 20-something frequent masturbators had a 79% higher risk of prostate cancer by age 60.

For men in their 50s, "frequent masturbation" was one or more times per week. Compared to same-age men who reported never masturbating, 50-something frequent masturbators had a 70% lower risk of prostate cancer.

Sources:

http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/news/...e-cancer-risk#1

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2009/01January/Page...tatecancer.aspx

Date of Receipt v Date hereof/of the letter

Dear all,

I am writing this because I have gotten quite irritated as I notice all the companies I deal with (including with my own) having this quite non-nonsensical way of writing a letter FOR NOTICE.

Here's an example:

You send a letter with the following condition:

"Please take notice that you must make payment for the outstanding amount within 14 days from the date hereof (or the date of the letter), failing to do so we will terminate the contract and commence legal action against you"

So, let's say the date of the letter is 1 January 2017, however due to certain factors (e.g. staff delayed delivery, living out of state, post office delay etc), I received the letter only by 1 February 2017 - and question is, do you have the right to terminate the contract?

Think about it - and the answer should be NO, because I only have notice AFTER your so called "14 days". (Trust me this actually happened).

So what's the point of putting down the "14 days" if you don't take account of time of delivery?

Please to all companies senior managers and partners out there, please change the wording to e.g. "14 days from the date of receipt of this letter" for every letter you send out from today onwards. Communicate with your staff, communicate with everyone in the company. I worked in Australia before, and all sensical countries would use this wording, cuz it is only fair to the recipient of the letter. So please, do some favor to improve the standard of our communication in Malaysia.

Thank you.

Dealing with unresponsive neighbour

Guys need your opinion here on the best way to approach a neighbour of mine of the following kind:

This neighbour of mine lives behind my house whom me and my family are not close to (never really talk to each other). So previously there was a nuisance issue regarding their roosters crowing every dawn which had been disturbing my sleep. I then wrote them a letter addressing this issue but to no avail, from which then I walked up to their front house to communicate with them. A guy who claimed to be the "manager" (look like a dusun) of a "datuk's" house turned up , and after a few not so happy chat, he unwillingly agreed to remove his roosters for my sake. He also said that I was "cerewet".

Then few months later, their house underwent some significant renovation, which they worked everyday and produced loud drills and hammering sound including public holiday and Sunday. So I tried to send a text message to the "manager" and politely asked him if he could stop working on holidays as I need those days for proper resting, to which no reply from him and the renovation work went on as usual. Then one day I just walked up and talked to one of the renovation workers (not the manager) at the backyard and requested the same, which the worker apologized and from that day onwards they did not work during holidays.

Now, another issue arises where recently their water pump has been producing quite a loud noise which really has disturbed me when I am in my room resting/studying. The noise was not that loud and frequent before, but I think after the renovation they moved their water pump so much closer to my room, and it is used more frequent and randomly nowadays throughout the entire day and night (I think because more people have moved into the house after the renovation/expansion). I tried to text the "manager" regarding this issue, and same thing, no reply from him.

It's rather awkward relationship I am having currently with this seemingly passive/unresponsive neighbour. I know there is a kind of waterpump which produces little to almost no noise (which is what I am using) and I am thinking to suggest them to change to this kind of pump and I am willing to bear half of the cost. But the thing is, I don't quite know how should I bring this up to them due to previous awkward incidents, and also given the unresponsive personality of the "manager", I am afraid if I bring up another issue to him he may be angered.

So any suggestion guys?

Iphone life span

What's your maximum iphone life span?anyone has used their iphone more than 3-4 years?..cuz when i google it seems like apple default answer for iphone life span is three years, but my iphone 5c has been slighttly more than 3 years and still seems okay

Source:

Apple expects iPhone owners to replace their phones every three years

Apple has revealed that it expects users will replace their iPhone after just three years.

The Cupertino giant estimates that the Apple Watch and iPhone will last for three years with its first owner, while Mac computers and the Apple TV should last for four years.

In a question and answer section published on Apple's site, outlining the company's environmental targets, Apple estimates the life expectancy for various devices under their first owner, along with the amount of greenhouse gases they are expected to contribute in that time.

Apple analyses the greenhouse gas life cycle for products by looking at the hardware components, size and weight, daily usage patterns, shipping methods and disposal practices.

"Years of use, which are based on first owners, are assumed to be four years for OS X and tvOS devices and three years for iOS and watchOS devices," said Apple in the report.

Is your iPhone built to die?

Conspiracies about whether Apple builds its products so that they die within a few years have circulated for years.

In 2014 Laura Trucco, then a PhD economics student, analysed the number of Google searches for "iPhone slow" across the world over the last seven years and found that the search term spiked whenever a new model was released.

In an attempt to prove the theory, iPhone users have carried out tests involving phones running older software and updated versions to prove that Apple self-sabotages its out-of-date hardware, possibly to encourage users to upgrade sooner.

Apple's environmental push

The app store will look a lot greener for the next ten days, while Apple promotes apps related to WWF's mission CREDIT: APPLE
As part of its new environmental awareness push Apple overhauled the app store this week with a range of Apps for Earth, created in partnership with the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise money and support for conservation.

Apple helped build custom content for 27 apps that promote the WWF's mission, which includes conservation of wildlife, forests, oceans and fresh water. It will donate 100 per cent of the profits to the charities they're associated with from April 14 to 24.

Similar to Apple's Campaign for (RED) in 2014, Apps for Earth involves updates to popular apps such as Kendall & Kylie, Enlight, and Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes.

Source
Which broker has the best deals in Malaysia?

I am not concerned with intraday rate, but the normal one.

And the following seems like not bad?

1. Ambank - 0.035% and RM6 minimum brokerage fee! - but need to tranfer money from Ambank itself and not from other bank

2. Hongleong bank - 0.1% and RM8 min. fee - accept money from Hongleong, Maybank and CIMB

3. CIMB click - 0.038 % and RM8.88 min. fee - but need to deposit RM10,000 at CIMB as pre-requisite.

4. Maybank - 0.1% with RM8 min fee

Correct me if the above rates are wrong, I got it from googling a website which tabulates the rates from all the brokers in Malaysia.

Meanwhile i see some banks with 0.4% + rate and min fee as high as RM28 , I am curious what causes the difference? is it the service??

Hi guys, newbie here on share trading.

On the BURSA website under stock quote section I notice the following columns/figures:

1) Volume ('00) = 8740
2) Sell volume ('00) = 11
3) Buy volume ('00) = 216

The above is the example of the 7-eleven today's stock information. My question is, what do those figures mean?

If not wrong volume means the total transaction that was conducted on that particular day, however the buy and sell volume does not seem to add up to 8740, why is that?

Appreciate any champ who can help me out here!

Have been looking around for genuine formal black leather belt. Went to Levi, looks not bad with full leather at price RM180+.

But problem is, all the belts do not have a movable belt loop ( a small little "ring" size thing which is meant to keep the end of the strap in place after the belt goes all the way around the waist), is this normal?

I asked if the belt can be cut in order to fit my waist length (so that the end strap will not be left hanging since there is no movable belt loop), but the store manager said all the belts cannot be cut.

if like this how to solve the hanging strap problem ?
