Software engineering or pharma/medical sales rep?

Basically my background in biomed but got offer to do SWE internship coz I have some coding skills. Applying to pharma companies for sales rep position too. Btw not graduated yet for personal reasons, 2 years done 1 to go but perfect GPA.

I know SWE is very good for career progression, once u get the first job nobody cares whether u have degree or not. Cushy 9-5, mentally challenging but I would enjoy an intellectual challenge over a physical one. It's a set career path. Still gotta pass a test to qualify but I think I'm set, just need to brush up a bit.

But I have a priority to make decent money quickly. Personal family stuff going on. I know pharma sales starting pay ~3k which is why I'm considering it over the SWE. Plus imposter syndrome coz I do not have comp sci background. What is the career progression like for pharma sales? Searcher lowyat for previous threads but not much info on progression.

Don't mind my English, I speak fluent English but Manglish is just much quicker to type. I do not speak Mandarin, might be a con for sales. obut communication in English or Malay would not be a problem on the job.

Any SWE or pharma/medical sales rep wanna pitch in?

I'm selling off some used clothes on carousell. Don't know where to even start.

1. Do I get the parcel option? Do they calculate by volumetric weight?

2. Do I need to put my address on the parcel? Would rather my buyer doesnt know my address.

3. How to package parcel? Will brown wrapping paper and thread do? Reuse shipping bag?

4. How will I be charged?

Any news of total lockdown/quarantine?

My relative is a govt servant, insisting that the lockdown means NO ONE is allowed outside because his boss sent some document stating that you are only allowed outside to buy essentials. And only one person per household. Can someone confirm/deny this? I have not been able to find mention of this anywhere. Scoured news and MOH website. I can't even go for a walk alone in peace, it's very depressing. Please help.

Submitted PTPTN application online, what now?

The instructions online stop at submitting the completed application into their portal. Now what happens? There is a whole section for Dokumen Perjanjian but does that happen only after my application is approved? https://www.ptptn.gov.my/panduan-permohonan-pinjaman-side

Sorry if I'm asking abuden questions, I'm having a lot of anxiety about this. Can anyone confirm that the closing date for submitting your application is indeed 30th September? I have it on a printed document from a PTPTN office and yet I'm still worried I may have missed something.

Advice for getting grad/postgrad scholarships?

I'm starting my UG in biomedical science this year but I was wondering if any of you STEM scholars have any advice for obtaining graduate or post graduate scholarships?

I know obviously that a high GPA and good reference letters are important, also research experience or notable publications.

Is there anything else, though? I know for PhD and Master's programmes there seems to be little emphasis on extracurricular activities and leadership positions, but what about scholarships? Would it be a waste of time for me to get a bunch of leadership roles from clubs unrelated to my major, rather than investing my time in mastering my learning material and getting a better GPA?

Thank you in advance.

How to save money on university textbooks?

I haven't started my course yet so I don't know which textbooks will be required. I did foundation at the same university so I've met a lot of my lecturers already, I didn't have to buy a single textbook because everything was in the library and I finished with a good GPA. But I know sometimes for undergrad you may need to buy textbooks. Where do you guys your textboks from? Any online places? I don't even mind e-books if they cost less. I just really don't want to be spending unecessary money on a $300+ book I may only use for 1 semester.

Concerns regarding Matriculation

I've applied for Matrics but I'm quite concerned about whether I will get my preferred course for degree level. I don't mind studying at a local uni because I am planning to do MSc right after overseas. (I want to specialise in either Bioinformatics or Genetics)

But if I do Matrics and don't get offered the university course I want.. then what? Esp since it's not really that recognised by private and overseas unis. I'm primarily aiming for UM or UPM too.. I don't know how good my chances are.

I'm not that concerned about my grades because I am not a bad student (GPA 0.7 SPM Trials) Main issue worrying me is my kulitfication.. (Non-bumi)

Thoughts guys?

P.S.
Best University to do a Biomedical Science BSc at?

I'm currently a Form 5 student and I would like to know which university (with preferably a local campus) is best for studying BMS. Before anyone asks me to "Google it", I already have and would simply like an actual real-life perspective on it. At the moment it seems like a tie between Newcastle and Monash, but please, do suggest other options if you have any in mind.

I know Monash, Newcastle and Nottingham have pretty good programs. Thoughts? Any unis I might have missed out? Perhaps an experience to share?
Best pathway to a career in biomedical science?

I'm currently in Form 5 and I wish to further my studies in biomedical science (or something similar, though I am quite set on this field in particular). However, I understand that the career prospects for this field in Malaysia are slim, especially research-wise, which is what I plan to focus on. There are few recognised universities in Malaysia (local private unis are a priority since they're cheaper) and I have read up on them quite a bit.

My main option is Newcastle University, followed by Monash and Nottingham. I understand that universities may oversell their course quality to students, so I would like honest opinions on which university I should apply for. Admissions-wise I am probably eligible to apply for most unis (trials GPA 0.78) with my lowest grade being an A-. Currently NUMed seems like the most appealing option since it's cost-efficient and is recognised by Malaysia and QS rankings. My parents prefer me doing foundation because it's much quicker and more specialised that A-Levels or IB, so it's necessary I choose a university now.

I am worried about after I finish my degree as well. I know the pay in Malaysia can be quite terrible for this field. What are my chances of obtaining a job with employers willing to sponsor my work visa outside of Malaysia (provided I graduate with reasonably good results)? Is it a smart move to study biomedical science if there's no guarantee of being able to work in a country where there is actually sufficient funding for research? I don't think there's anything else I would be truly content studying and doing for the rest of my life since I love and am good at Biology (and science in general) but lack the qualities and drive required to be a (good) doctor.

If anyone could help me out on this, I would really appreciate it.

So to sum up, here are my questions:

1. Which university would provide me with the best opportunities? (accreditation-wise, employability, etc)
2. Are there any alternatives to biomedical science that will generate more income once I graduate? Where can I take these alternatives?
3 If the answer to my 2nd question is no, what Master's degrees can I take afer BMS BSc to improve my prospects?
4. Is there any other way to improve my career prospects as a BMS graduate?

How safe is uber for a teenager?

I need a ride home after school tomorrow and my best bet right now is uber. But I am a female, and a teenager. I'd like to know how safe uber is and if it is worth the risk. The app estimates it's only a 5 minute ride (but from experience, with traffic included it's about 15 mins or less). Sorry if this seems a little over the top, I am very paranoid. I've never taken uber alone, only with a friend, or in a group.

Biomedical Sciences Career Prospects

I've heard from some friends that at the moment, biomedical science graduates don't have very good chances in the job market, for some reason. I would like to know if this is true, because I'm actually quite keen on getting a degree in biomedical sciences. If this true, are there any other courses I could take that are similar to this one? (Biology and research based). I'm not going to rush into anything since I haven't even sat for SPM yet, but I don't think the three months after are sufficient time for me to make up my mind.
I'm currently in Form 5 and I have done consistently well in my school exams throughout secondary education (GPP of less than 1.0). Does anyone know of any scholarships that are open right now (or will be soon) that don't require your SPM results/forecast results?
