Car Tyre Brands

Hello everyone,
I would like to ask some advice from the sifu's here on following tire brands available online (lazada) for day to day use.

I'm looking at a comfortable ride on bad road conditions with enough grip on wet conditions for regular driving (at legal highway speeds).

For Persona VVT (15") >>>
1. CONTINENTAL ContiComfortContact CC6
2. BRIDGESTONE ECOPIA EP300
3. GOODYEAR Assurance TripleMax2

For Saga VVT (14") >>>
1. BRIDGESTONE ECOPIA EP150
2. TOYO NanoEnergy 3 NE3
3. Hankook Kinergy EX

Please share here, based on many years of driving experience in Malaysian roads, what are the pros and cons of each of these tires and what would you recommend for my type of use. (My budgets is ~RM150-RM200 for 15" and ~RM100-RM150 for 14")

Also, If I change 2 pairs of tires at a time, new tires should be used at front or back ?

Thanks again in advance!

Engine Knocking Sound

Hello Sifu's in the forum.

Anyone can enlighten me on what factors can cause a new engine (6-7 month old - ~5000Km) to knock while accelerating and climbing up a ramp ? Already tried RON97 and Knock Sensor changed under the car warranty but my issue is still there. Anyone can help me to "Advice" the Service Advisors on where to look for cos hey are hopeless when it comes to troubleshooting and understanding customer's complains. (I'm talking about the Service Center at Proton HQ)
Thank you for reading.

wipers judder

Hello everyone in the forum...

I have a question about my car's wipers. (new persona)
When I go through normal to heavy rain, they start juddering after 10-12 int. wipes and become so annoying to drive in the rain. Even though I'n not applied anything on my widescreen, I've got the Proton service to "clean" the windscreen as well as change a new set of wipers. But my problem stays. They have no other idea of how to fix this so, i'm trying to find my own ways to fix this matter. Is there a way i can like do a treatment/service to my windscreen ? any product i can try ?

Any suggestions form the Sifu's of this forum is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Which Engine Oil to use

Hello Again all,

My car is almost up for the 2nd service by end of next month. Last time (@first service) I used Syntium 1000 (15W-50) (due my mistake and SA did not explain either) and somehow end up with relatively bad fuel economy. (as good Sifu's here also mention to my previous thread)

As I do not want to fall for that again, I'm asking you opinion before i book my appointment. My daily driving is just office and back home /Weekend Shopping and and going out of KL maybe once in a month of two max. So the millage is still under 5000Km The reason for me to service is just it's about to reach 6 months after my last service.

1. Should I still go for Syntium 3000 (need to pay additional) this time? or stick with Syntium 800 (free service Option) ?

2. Any other recommended EO brand/make other than Personas for Proton Engines ? (My old Honda Used Shell Fully Syn 40 Grade Oil and I had no issues)

3. Does the Service Center allow the customer to bring their own EO, without affecting the warranty ?

Appreciate if good people here in this forum can suggest some points to me based on their experience on this at your convenience. Thanks everyone.
Proton Persona 2016 - First Service (1000Km)

Hello Everyone,
I would like to share my experience about the 1K service for new Persona as a First time Proton Customer as well as foreign national.
Service Center : Proton Center of Excellence - Shah Alam
Time : 8.30am
I have made my appointment early in the month (3 weeks ago) via my Sales Adviser at the same place and managed to be there almost on time (5min late only). upon parking the car at the designated are for service customers, I was directed to the Service Office by the (friendly) security guard at the parking area. Upon a brief Q&A about the reason for me to come there, the lady at the reception took the service booklet of my car and asked me to sit and wait till my car plate number is called (or displayed on the screen). There were quite a few number of customers who has come before me, anxiously waiting for their turn at the waiting area. (There were coffee and a simple breakfast (packets of Nasi Lemak) available for the customers who would like to enjoy too.)
In contrary to that, there were 10-12 customer service counters, with some are manned with very relaxed Service Advisors while some are not even manned as it should on a busy Thursday Morning (at start of business). Anyhow... Upon waiting for about 30min or more, my car plate number popped up on the screen and I went over to meet my Service Advisor, who already started entering initial detail of my appointment in to their system (I guess...). He explained to me about what they going to perform as first service and asked me if they wanted me to attend on any other issues if i have to report.
I had few minor, but one being particular is some rattling noise coming from the middle of the dash board area. He surprisingly acknowledge the matter (without even looking at the car..!!) and suggested me to leave the car with them for 3 days!! for fixing the matter FOC. That gave me an impression of the issue was a known to them like their second nature so that they know the remedy instantly. As I was not ready for leave my car for 3 days with them, I said I will come at another time. (I will update the status about that on a later day)
I asked him about the type or EO they gonna use and the answer was syntium 800 (Semi Synthetic Oil). He also told me if i'd to prefer Fully Syn, (syntium 1000) i will have to top-up only RM85. Since the next service is going to be after 5 months (or 9000Km) I've agreed on that amount to go ahead. few minutes later he offered me to sign a Job Sheet and I handed over the keys to him. We walked down to the car park where he visually inspected my car and said he will call me once they are done. by this time, it was about 9.30am, I have left the center to take a cab to my office.
About 2pm in the afternoon, i was at lunch, i got a call from service advisor saying the car is ready for collection. after a quick taxi ride, I've collected my car after paying the extra RM85 at the counter. all seems to be done ok so far. Overall, i'm satisfied about the service. but there is plenty of room for improvements.

Pros :
All the systems / facilities are already there to give a professional service to the customers. Friendly Staff (at least to me)

Cons :
No one at the service center seems to care about the other people's (customer's) time although they know everyone is there has other things to do for the day, not only do a car service for the entire day. They could have release a customer in less than 20min instead of 1 hour if they plan to do so using just excising facilities/resources.
After identifying an issues with a car model, (believe me all brads have their issues...) it has to be fixed at the factory instead of at service center at a later time when customer complains. it just make their products bad.

Hope this helps!! tq for reading.

Honda City Vtec Shaky Idling

Hello Everyone!

I have a question for Honda Gurus in this Forum.

My Car is Honda City (Year 2005) Vtec with 160K mileage. (I bought it 2nd hand). For the last two years of me using this car, I've done regular the maintenance and kept it in it's original condition as much as possible.

Since recently I've been noticing an unusual vibration when Air conditioner engages when the car is idling (Eg: at a Traffic Light). I remember there was some minor vibration even when I bought this car but this is much worse now and it it like the car is about to stall (RPM goes down and comes back up) every time the Air Cond starts now. But Car is very smooth when A/C not on and it starts to shake as soon as i press the ON button.

So far I have done the following services but the issue still stays.

1. Change Engine Oil - It was anyway due soon.
2. Change CVT Transmission Oil - also was due to change.
3. Replace Spark Plugs, Engine V - belt (the one that drives the Alternator / Aircond Compressor, etc) , Replace Idler Pulley
4. Throttle Body Clean and Service.
6. Clean Air Filter.
7. Did Air Conditioner system cleaning service and checking. ( Replace and recharge GAS, Check Pressure, clean the system)

I was wondering where else i need to check and what might be the reason for this issues. Really appreciate if you can help out with this.

Thanks again for your time!
