Flying car 85% complete says Redzuan

KUALA LUMPUR: Work to construct Malaysia’s first flying car is 85% complete, says Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

The prototype, he added, is being built by a Malaysian company in Japan, as the economic powerhouse has the supporting ecosystem for the flying-car industry.

“I am going to Japan in September for the Aviation Conference and I hope to get to see the almost complete (flying) car that we will be going to bring back towards the end of the year, ” Mohd Redzuan told reporters after attending the SME Leadership Conference 2019 here yesterday.

The ministry he said, was in discussion with various ministries involved in the aviation sector to create available space for flying cars in Malaysia, similar to efforts undertaken in several other countries, to complement skills of local entrepreneurs to develop a flying car.

“We don’t control them (investors) on what they want to do but we need to create an industry (flying car in Malaysia, ” he added.

On whether the country’s first flying car would be launched by year-end, Mohd Redzuan said it would depend on Malaysia’s ecosystem for flying cars, especially in term of availability to fly at that time.

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019...bXsiFmJUohD8.99

Pervert doctor touched patient's breast

SINGAPORE (AN)): A woman who visited a doctor believing she had a "normal sickness" like flu or a fever ended up having her breast touched by him, a court heard on Tuesday (Aug 20).

When her boyfriend called family physician Lui Weng Sun to ask why he pulled down her bra cup and touched her breast, the doctor allegedly neither confirmed nor denied doing so - but said "sorry", adding that he needed to "check the things inside".

Lui, 46, is claiming trial to outraging the 24-year-old woman's modesty at a Northeast Medical Group clinic in Jalan Tiga near Old Airport Road in November 2017.

The woman and her boyfriend cannot be named due to a gag order to protect her identity.

Speaking in Mandarin through an interpreter, the boyfriend added: "I told him, it's just flu and cough, there's no need to 'open' clothes...I told him I was hungry because I had just ended work.

"So, I asked him to call me back in one to two hours (and to) think carefully of a reason to convince me."

According to the boyfriend, Lui called again soon after and reiterated what he had said.

The man testified that he then told Lui: "If indeed you needed to check the things inside, my girlfriend went there only for flu, cough and fever...And further, why wasn't there a nurse (around)?"

He added that Lui then asked him: "What do you want me to do?"

The boyfriend replied that he wanted Lui to give an explanation for his alleged actions, the court heard.

After hanging up, he discussed the matter with the woman and alerted the police.

Lui is represented by lawyer Shashi Nathan.

The trial continues.

If convicted of molestation, Lui can be jailed for up to two years and fined or caned. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/regional/20...SPJUBtcJbJYl.99

LGE: Lynas is a proof DAP doesnt control Madey

PETALING JAYA: The decision to allow Lynas Corp's rare earth operations in the country is proof that DAP is not the kingmaker in Pakatan Harapan as alleged by the Opposition, says Lim Guan Eng.

The DAP secretary-general said former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had continually alleged that the DAP is the "kingmaker" in Pakatan, adding that the party's ministers, who are non-Muslims, had caused "escalating tension" among the Malays.

Lim said such "lies were exposed when DAP did not succeed in convincing Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to close down the Lynas rare earth plant, but would continue to persuade the Prime Minister to understand the genuine concerns of environmentalists".

He added that Najib contradicted himself when he asked DAP leaders to resign for failing to close down the Lynas rare earth plant.

Lim, who is also Finance Minister, said in a press statement on Monday (Aug 19) that racial political tactics used by the Oppostition had reached a "dangerous level" following the latest issue on controversial preacher Zakir Naik.

"They hope to create a perfect chaos to see the end of Pakatan," added Lim.

He said that neither the Opposition nor the media it controls would highlight the success of the Pakatan government in recording a 4.9% economic growth in the second quarter of 2019, compared with 4.5% in the first quarter.

Lim said Malaysia is the only Asean country that has recorded higher economic growth in the second quarter, compared with the first quarter of the year.

He went on to say it was typical for the Opposition to resort to racist and religious extremist stereotypes, but sang a different tune when facing non-Malays and non-Muslims.

Lim said the Opposition's ambitions to regain power – by playing up racial hatred and religious fears – would not succeed as the Pakatan government was committed to adopt a rational and moderate approach towards both nation-building and handling hot-button issues.

"Furthermore, the Pakatan government is committed to listen to the people, including differing views, even when decisions are made to actively explore better alternatives.

"This is part and parcel of democracy and DAP leaders will continue to play an active part towards better decision-making that will improve democracy, public health and safety, as well as the living standards of the rakyat," said Lim.

On Sunday (Aug 18), Dr Mahathir said the decision to allow Lynas to continue operating in the country is based on expert view, despite protests over the matter.

The premier said that the Government cannot always pander to popular views, adding that the Government had sent scientists to examine the operations in Gebeng, Pahang.

Dr Mahathir said experts found there was no danger found but some quarters insisted that the plant was dangerous.

Earlier on Sunday, anti-Lynas protestors had showed up at Taman Gelora in Kuantan to protest the Cabinet's decision to renew Lynas' operating licence for another six months, effective Sept 3.

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019...TWZ6vhY79kbZ.99

Katy Perry accused of sexual misconduct

A model who starred in Katy Perry’s 2010 music video for her song Teenage Dream is accusing the singer of sexual misconduct.

In an Instagram post, Josh Kloss accused the 34-year-old singer of exposing him at a roller skating rink.

“It was Johny Wujek’s birthday party at moonlight roller way. And when I saw her, we hugged and she was still my crush,” he wrote about the interaction.

Kloss continued: “But as I turned to introduce my friend, she pulled my Adidas sweats and underwear out as far as she could to show a couple of her guy friends and the crowd around us, my penis. Can you imagine how pathetic and embarrassed I felt?”

The 38-year-old model also detailed his work history with Perry, remembering an experience on set of a music video where the singer described kissing him as “gross.”

He said that Perry’s representatives prevented him from speaking about his experience working with the singer.

“I just say this now because our culture is set on proving men of power are perverse,” Kloss wrote. “But females with power are just as disgusting.”

“So, happy anniversary to one of the most confusing, assaulting, and belittling jobs I’ve ever done,” Kloss concluded his post.

https://globalnews.ca/news/5760328/katy-per...ual-misconduct/

Just now I was in Giant supermaket buying groceries for this week.

I went to the counter to pay but there were two Africans came out of nowhere and cut my queue. I wasn't mad but optimistic that they were in rush. Suddenly they elbowed me at stomach. I don't know whether it was intentional or not. They didn't even say sorry and just went away after paying their stuff. I was scared to scold them back.

I am scared. It feels like they are taking over this country.

Azmin defends Mahathir and slams Pasir Gudang MP

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has slammed Pasir Gudang Member of Parliament Hassan Abdul Karim for calling Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to step down.

Azmin said a PKR MP should not come out with such a statement but should concentrate on the development agenda of his own constituency.

He said the PKR leadership has expressed its stand firmly and strongly supports Dr Mahathir to continue his leadership as prime minister.

"The matter of Dr Mahathir being Prime Minister has been decided by the people in the last general election.

"Thankfully, under one year of Dr Mahathir's leadership, we have laid the right foundation. I believe now is the time for the implementation of the policies that have been set, " he said.

Mohamed Azmin said this after taking part in the World Stats Congress 2019 run at Dataran Merdeka for the five-kilometre category here on Sunday (Aug 18).

In making the statement on Wednesday (Aug 14), Hassan had claimed that he was doing so because of the polemics happening in the country.

He further claimed that Dr Mahathir seemed to be at a loss now in handling various issues, especially the three Rs - race, religion and royalty.

Earlier, Mohamed Azmin, who is also Economic Affairs Minister, had flagged of more than 7, 000 participants of the run held in conjunction with the 62nd International Institute of Statistics' "World Statistics Congress" (ISI WSC 2019), which is being held for the first time in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, starting today till Aug 23. - Bernama

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019...sSvm6frkK6BS.99

Military sekolahkan Koon Yew Yin

I REFER to businessman Koon Yew Yin’s Facebook posting on Aug 12 where he wrote: “As you know, the Armed Forces personnel are doing nothing except eating and sleeping. In fact, almost all of them have never fired a shot except at target practice. Some of them should replace the foreign workers in the Felda plantations.”

I was completely disgusted and appalled when I read the post. It shows that he is completely ignorant or misguided in his views on the roles and functions of the military. It is easy for him to say that the military “is doing nothing except eating and sleeping” in peacetime. Please realise that our main role is in war.

The Armed Forces is an insurance policy the country takes to defend its sovereignty and status as an independent nation. We, the military and veterans, abhor war, but the nature of international politics tells us that we cannot afford to compromise and take chances in so far as national interests are concerned.

The military is always there, firstly to act as a deterrent to potential aggressors and, if deterrence fails, to fight and win wars!

I would like to remind Koon that even in peacetime, the military in Malaysia has made many important contributions to the security and well-being of the country.

We fought against the communist terrorists during the insurgency from 1948 to 1989 in the jungles of Sarawak and the Malaysia-Thai border.

During the May 13, 1969 riot, the military was the only institution able to ensure and upkeep the internal security of the country.

The military has also been involved in sporadic situations like the incursions and attacks by the Al-Ma’unah militant group (2000) and the Lahad Datu invasion (2013) and is an important part of the government’s foreign policy by participating in international peacekeeping operations such as the Malayan Special Force to the Congo in 1960 and UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon since January 2007. (Picture shows the sending-off ceremony for Malaysian Company 9 to join the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon in July, 2013).

Finally, the military has always been the institution to turn to in all major humanitarian relief operations, such as floods, in the country.

Every minute of the day, there are thousands of men and women who are on duty to defend our country. They are in the deepest of jungles, on the high seas and the highest of mountains and in isolated military bases, working under very tough conditions so that citizens of this country are able to live in peace.

These “unknown” men and women make these sacrifices every day in complete disregard for their own safety and comfort. And they do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the process, they make enormous sacrifices in their personal lives, namely long separations from their families, deployment in hostile areas, tough living conditions, danger to their lives and, sadly, loss of their comrades.

Hence, it is imperative that Koon and the general public in Malaysia recognise and appreciate the fact that the military is a very professional organisation that is not being given enough credit for the work it does. The military has repeatedly defended and protected our freedom, and this noble obligation and responsibility deserve our utmost gratitude.

Let me also remind Koon that had the military not kept the peace in Malaysia, he would not have had the environment to start up and expand his business. We, the military, sacrificed our comfort and well-being to ensure that people like Koon can get on with their lives in a peaceful and conducive environment and sleep well at night. It certainly saddens me therefore that he has taken the military for granted and is not grateful to us for our past and present sacrifices.

Finally, if he really thinks that the military does not bring any tangible benefits to the country, I’d say to him, “I hope and pray that the military in this country will never, ever have to undertake the ultimate task it has been trained for – going to war – because I know the horrors that war can bring. But should a war take place, rest assured that all servicemen and veterans will be there at the front lines defending this country till the last drop of their blood!”

LT KOL (RTD) HEERA SINGH

Seremban

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/opinion/letters/...k0hhJ7oiMbOX.99

Hi,

I got an invitation for interview session with a company in KL. However, they want to meet me next week when I will be super busy with my works and I don't think I can take a leave. I already told them I won't be available and needed to reschedule. They told me they will call me again for new date.

Are they going to move on to another candidate and forget about me?
