BT Mouse w/ "Gestures"

Anyone has any fav mouse that is used in a Mac? I am too used to the gestures on the trackpad (esp the changing of virtual desktops)

I need a mouse for occasional / precision use when connected to external Keyboard. I tried a cheap Rapoo mouse but after a while - hands cramped due to ergonomics. (also it doesn't support gestures) end up hand go back to trackpad. hahaha..

Was lusting for the MM2 (Magic Mouse 2) but after using the rapoo (which is fatter) and still getting cramped hands, the MM2 will definitely be worst as it's super slim profile.

I've been reading about Logitech MX Master 2s and 3 and it supports gestures via "macros" or something like that.

Appreciate the advice

MBP16 external Monitor support

getting more confused by the moment w/ all the diff standards and refresh rates and resolutions and USB Type C Hubs

The MBP16 only has USB Type C and TB3 ports.
I am thinking of getting an external monitor. These monitors only either have HDMI or DisplayPort (DP) connections.

From what I read, HDMI got 2 specs

HDMI 1.4, only 24fps was possible at 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160).
HDMI 2.0 spec, up to 60fps at 4K resolution is possible. This also allows you to view 144Hz at 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) through a HDMI 2.0 connection.

Based on this, anyone has used any USB-C to HDMI cables that would be able to support the HDMI 2.0 spec to the external monitor? Or any cable would do?

Initially I was thinking of just getting those 5in1 etc USB Type C hub (TB3 are v expensive) and use the HDMI port there to connect to the monitor, but all that I have seen is only saying 4k@30Hz which is really quite low. refresh rate.

So basically the question is :

1) Any recommendation for USB Type C hubs?
-> LAN
-> SD/MicroSD slot
-> Power Delivery (100w or enough to charge the MBP)
-> HDMI loh.. can support external monitor at higher resolution

2) USB Type C to HDMI cable that can support higher resolution and refresh rate.

TQ All

What is people using for a cross platform file system support?
Fat32?

Trying to get a common external drive file system suitable for Mac / windows.

Is paragon NTFS driver for Mac good? (usd20) worth the purchase?

Looks like between paragon and Tuxera, paragon performance is better.

I mainly using it for external drive and also for VMware fusion.
MultiLevel Incremental Backup (w/ Restore?)

was using Dirsyncpro (multi platform) for my backup needs.
Had a snafu. Now looking to do multi level backups.

Multi-level incremental as in

Monday - Full Backup (eg: 200GB)
Wed - Incremental Backup (whatever newer than Monday) (eg: 500MB)
Friday - Incremental Backup (Whatever newer than Wed) (eg: 250MB)
--> Total = 207GB
Next Monday - Full Backup. (eg: 207GB)

and so on so forth vs Doing multi level FULL Backup as in

Monday - Full Backup (eg:200GB)
Wed - Full Backup (eg: 205GB)
Friday - Full Backup (eg: 207GB)
-->Total = 602GB!!
Next Monday - Full Backup (207GB)

The thing is, looking at the available SWs (CCC / SuperDuper / TimeMachine / GetBackup Pro) does not seem to offer a way to do this. *does not seem*. Hence I'm asking here based on person's experience.

Additionally, due to the way multilevel Incremental backup is done, the restore process is more tedious and time consuming. To Do a restore of the MultiLevel Incremental backup, Need to apply Full backup, then Apply Wed Backup to the Full (which brings the full backup restore to include changes up to Wed) and then Apply Friday Backup.

I search-search, doesnt seems like any of the SW i've looked at can do this level of restore.

Any thots?

Thanks.

Tweak to Offer FULL landscape Ipad Email

I'm looking for a tweak much like splitmail. What I would like is to hide the Email accounts / email list on the left hand side of the Ipad email client such that I will have the FULL landscape feature. (much like The HP Touchpad)

SOmetimes, I get emails which has pictures / tables inside and it's much easier to see if I have the FULL landscape rather than have 1/3 of it covered by the Email List / Folders on the left.

Is there such a thing?

CF Card Speed Test

I was bored yesterday night and just before I went to sleep. I wanted to do a quick check on all my CF Cards. All 47.5GB of it.

The test method is simple :
1/600 shutter speed
F1.4 aperture
ISO 6400
Manual Focus
High Speed Continuous Spam
Canon 7D
Full Size RAW File

I clicked the shutter and shot until the buffer filled entirely. Then waited for another 2 shots. After that, I started the Stopwatch and waited for the red light of the camera to go off. When it goes off, I stop the stopwatch.

Conclusion :
WOW what a difference the card speed makes.
This is especially true when you're shooting RAW. The difference is actually the time taken for the Camera's BUFFER to get written into the Card.

the photofast card is REALLY Fast. This is just the 533x (40mb write / 80mb read) and not the 533x PLUS (80mb write / 80mb read)

Who has the sandisk 60mb/s or the 90mb/s? Perhaps can pinjam and let me do test? :-)

Memory Card Brands (Choices)

Just a question I have in my mind, so as to judge which brands are reputable and is largely headache free.

I'm not questioning the speed and the prices as that will make the poll even more complicated.

I myself is using Adata Speedy 8Gb and Kingston 133x 16GB & Trancend 4GB 133x

My choices are largely based on Branding (1st) and Price (2nd), the 3rd one would be speed.

As such, even though Sandisk has the "supposed" best branding, I won't choose it cos of its prohibitively expensive nature.

I also do not choose 266x speeds cos of the price. 2x 16GB 133x == 1x 16GB 266x (kingston)
