Dell U3011 Monitor with Macmini Late 2012

Feedback from forum members very much appreciated.
I purchased Dell U3011 Monitor based on its general good review from the net to use as my monitor for Macmini Late 2012 model. I connect these two using Dell's displayport to displayport cable, and I purchase the extension display port to mini display port to my Macmini.
Here is the problem i face:
1. I find the fonts characters are not as sharp as I compared to my old imac 27 Late 2009 model. I try many setting on the Dell monitor, nothing much improved. Also the image on Dell monitor looks fuzzy, or cloudy, for lack of better word.
2. I try to connect to my Macbook air, that has thunderbolt port, Macbook air can detect the monitor from Macbook screen but no display on dell monitor.
3. I try to connect to my iMac, that has minidisplay port, there is display on Dell monitor and the fonts look much sharper and darker.

I call Dell tech supports, nothing much help from there. I just wondering if I need better quality display port to minidisplay port or some other issue.

Best regards.
