Wipers: Bosch AeroTwin or Valeo Silencio

Replacing my wipers soon.

Always had Bosch AeroTwin for different cars and they work great. Found out Valeo Silencio is the OEM equivalent for the car I'm replacing the wipers for.

Which would you pick and why?

Also feel free to share if you have any recommendations of other models.

Hi all,

My car's front grille badge has fallen and I will be re-sticking it back on the grille (surface is plastic).

Is 3M's VHB still the best double-sided tape for this application?

Is there any surface prep I will need to perform besides wiping with alcohol?

Hi all,

This is never a feature I look for when it comes to car ownership so I am kinda out of the loop on which cars come with 360-degree cameras (stock, not aftermarket).

My sister is looking for an upgrade and this is one of her main requirements.

Any recommendations are appreciated!

No specific budget but would like to know options from all range to determine what is the best fit for her.

Has it been like this for quite some time? Just want to know if this is an isolated issue or it's the norm for everyone. Thanks!

Best Alignment Shop

Hi guys, as mentioned in the title, I'm looking for the best alignment shops regardless of price.

I am pretty sure there is a certain demographic who are just like us, who just want the best alignment even if it costs a bomb, instead of having to return several times to get things done right. And they need to know how to deal with non-econobox cars.

Used to go to a shop in Puchong all the time but their new recent hires just don't share the same passion in alignments like their masters who have already retired/left.

Seen a few suggestions in this forums like Kean Tyre Solution and Kin Alignment.

Gonna try out Kin Alignment tomorrow since it's closer but wouldn't hurt to get a few more suggestions here if it turned out bad.

Suggestions so far:

1. Sunshine Motor, Petaling Jaya - Thrust
2. Husaien Traction, Klang - THE CLASS OF 13
3. T-Align, Bandar Sunway - romuluz777

How about the welders who typically do industrial/housing stuff?

Dyno Recommendations

Hi guys,

Looking for recommendations on where I can get accurate dyno results. Preferably near Bukit Jalil, KL/Selangor area.

I'm not looking for someone who can tune my car as I have already remapped it after swapping the internals (cams, crankshaft, pistons, rods, etc). Just want a place where they provide accurate dyno results instead of overstating the numbers to satisfy customers as I would like to know the actual current state of the engine + map.

Next plan is to straight pipe and map this change as well and I would love to know the actual miniscule performance gains from more airflow.

Also, what's the price range for a dyno? Thanks.

Does This Require a Repaint?

Hi guys, good day!

Just want to ask if this requires a repaint?

Any issues if I just leave it? My concern is when the chassis starts rusting if there's not enough layers of protection.

But if it wouldn't be a problem at all, then I'll just leave it as it's only a backup car.

Hi all, does anyone have any tools or services that can trace the owner of a motorcycle based on the registration plate?

My car was scratched by a motorcyclist today and I just reviewed the dashcam footage and have recorded his plate number.

Would be appreciated if I could get this guy's contact information instead of resorting to a police report which would most likely lead to no avail.

Do pm me if you are able to perform such services and I'll treat you to a meal or a different token if you'd prefer.
E46 ZF 5HP19 Failure

Hi guys,

My E46 325i's ZF 5HP19 have started to show signs of failure.

This only happens after driving spiritually, where the symptoms are white smoke coming from underneath the car which is from the transmission fluid leaking onto the shaft/exhaust, and also jerking when downshifting to a stop or putting into reverse.

I am certain that the aux oil pump is failing, but not sure about the torque converter.

My mechanic said if I want to do a complete overhaul including a torque converter rebuild (is this even possible? I thought normally this gets replaced and not rebuilt as it's difficult/tedious), it would cost at least RM5k.

The other option is to get a half cut (cheaper). As for half cut, is it possible to use a 5HP19 from a 330i or E39 as well?

Would like to get some suggestions, recommendations or opinions on next action.

New/Better Tyres at Rear for FWD

Hello everyone.

We all know that new or "better" tyres should always go to the rear IF one were to change a pair instead of all 4 as losing traction at the rear in a FWD is far more dangerous for the common driver.

Every tyre manufacturer also strongly advises to put new tyres at the rear as well.

Today, I sent my FWD shit box to a tyre shop nearby for an alignment and balancing as I'd need to cross state for my usual place. I've also requested them to rotate the tyres, and they declined and told me it is better to put better/newer tyres at the front, otherwise you'll lose confidence in the grip.

This question on front or back for new tyres have been asked numerous times so this post is not to ask this as we already know the answer, but what I'd like to discuss, and perhaps get different opinions or input is, why do a lot of local workshops still suggest this to their customers, with the reason being power goes to the front axle (for FWD) so you'd want maximum grip there, and that's where you steer as well.

Fun Highways to Drive in Malaysia/KL

Hi everyone.

Anyone have any suggestions on fun highways to drive in Malaysia or KL?

I know there are fun routes such as Ulu Yam, but these sort of roads are already quite dangerous during the day and especially bad at night with poor lit areas.

So I'm looking for alternative roads (highways) to drive and enjoy with my friends/family. Obviously nothing crazy or reckless, but fun enough and especially late at night with very low number of cars (not street racing).

Not looking for straight stretches like the highway from Bukit Jalil to KLIA/Cyberjaya as those are quite boring. Preferably something like the highway passing IOI Putrajaya Mall from Puchong to Kajang/Semenyih (used to frequent this road a lot back in my uni days haha).

Any suggestions and recommendations are welcomed, thanks!

Hello, I know this question has been asked a lot and always sparks a debate. I have a M54B25 engine. The user's manual in the UK asks for 95 RON while the US manual asks for AKI 91 (95 RON). My local manual here is as shown in the image. Which would you rather use and why? And any idea why is the recommended fuel different when we are using the same engine?

E46 325i Wheels/Rims/Tyres

Hi,

I'm about to get an E46 325i that came with 18 inch BMW 135 style rims. The tyres are at the end of their lifespan.

I plan to downsize to 17 inch as I believe that the 325i originally came with 16 or 17 inch depending on the package from BMW, and also save on long term cost for cheaper tyres due to its smaller size. Plan to get PS4.

I believe the stock setup is front 17x7.5 ET41 225/45 R17, rear 17x8.5 ET50 245/40 R17. Main priority is comfortable enough for a daily driver, as well as saving some cost from tyre changes.

I have several questions:

1. How big is the difference in terms of comfort and handling when downsizing from 18 to 17 inch? The general consensus is less handling but more comfort, but to what extent in terms of real world experience.

2. If I were to get new rims, do they come only in 1 same size for all 4 pieces or do they come staggered already?

3. Do I need to follow the respective 17x7.5 and 17x8.5 sizes or can all 4 wheels be the same at 17x7.5 for example. If they only come in the same sizes for all 4 rims, can I still put staggered tyre sizes (225/45 front and 245/40 rear) and won't face any issues?

4. Any alternative wheel/tyre sizes recommendation?

5. Are there any good shops/recommendations around KL? So far I've seen some recommendations for KeanLeeHin and King of Rims. Is it better for me to get the new rims and tyres first, then only sell the 18 inch rims myself or do they accept trade-ins at a good price point?

6. I've seen some recommendations for brands like Advanti, Konig and Lenso; cheap/affordable but durable. I believe my current rims should be able to cover the cost of getting these new ones right? Any particular recommendation for brands or models for my car?

Feel free to provide more feedback or advice as I'm very inexperienced in regards to this. Thanks for all the help!
