Taxi Rear-ended My Car

Hi guys

As the title says, a taxi rear-ended my car. He wasn't able to slow down in time at the traffic light...and hit my car.

The damage is minor. We talked for a while after the incident and he insisted that I make a police report. I got the car plate number, took pictures, but he refused to share his contact details.The taxi driver tried to leave in a hurry and on his way out, he ALMOST got in another accident. WTF.

I'm not very experienced dealing with this situation, and have a few questions:
1. Is it true that for public transport vehicles (including taxi), we cannot claim against their insurance. (i.e. we have to use our own insurance for damages)
2. I think I will deal with the damages myself without going through insurance. Can i still make a police report to get the police to issue him a traffic summons?

I"m aware that I can bring it in to Panasonic center but I heard it will take a long time and I don't want to go through this hassle.

Trouble getting back earnest deposit

Hi property gurus,

Want to get some insights from you guys.

Here is my situation.

I was interested in a property and signed the Agreement to Purchase (Booking Form), and paid the earnest deposit (~RM 20K). The clause on Earnest Deposit refund:

"This offer is subject to bank loan approval of 15 (fifteen) working days. In the event the Purchaser is unable to obtain bank loan, the earnest deposit of
RMxxx shall be fully refunded to the Purchaser free of interest within 7 (seven) working days upon receipt from the Purchaser of bank loan rejection
letter"

I have gotten a loan rejection letter from ONE bank and also decided that I do not want to proceed with the deal (so i do not want to try other banks). I submitted the Loan Rejection letter to the agent + Vendor's lawyers. The loan approval deadline (15 working days) is already due, and the refund due date (7 working days) is due tomorrow.

Today, the agent told me:
- That vendor has not authorized the agent to refund my deposit
- The vendor is asking me to apply loan from a second bank.

My questions:
- Does the agent require vendor's authorization to refund my deposit?
- The time window for loan application / earnest deposit refund is almost due -- can they make such requests to me??

What do you think is happening here, and what do you guys recommend for me to proceed?

Disposing Old Hardware

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place for this question...(if not please direct me to the correct place ya).

I have a bunch of old stuff I want to get rid of:
- cpu fan
- various cables (usb, ethernet etc.)
- HDD
- chargers for laptops, routers etc.
- old laptop (very old 10yrs dy. Still works but you can hear the cpu fan struggling with just a single browser tab open).

These items are still in working condition, and wondering what's the 'responsible' way to dispose them. Is there a hardware shop that could make use of these things?

EDIT: Regarding the faulty height adjusting screw, there is no way to fix it other than to replace the whole leg (this is confirmed with IKEA). The screw hole is worn out and can no longer hold the screw tightly in place.

Hi,

I have a friend who entered Malaysia with a visitor pass of 30-days. She did visa run for a few times and in the last one, she was told that she can't re-enter Malaysia in the 'near future'. During that incident, the word 'FINAL' was written in the entry stamp on her passport.

What happened after:
-It has been almost 2 months since she left Malaysia
-She traveled around South East Asia during the 2 months but did not return to her home country

What we are trying to find out:
-What does the word 'FINAL' mean?
-How long does one need to stay out of Malaysia before safely re-entering under these circumstances?

Hi guys,

My friend generously gave me his previous phone, a Xiaomi 4i. But...

He deleted his Mi account without first un-linking the phone from his account. Now the phone is unable to go through the Mi account login screen.

Apparently this is a Mi loophole, explained here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/4...leting_account/

The only way out seems to be to reflash ROM.

Is there anywhere in KL i could do this?

Temporary 4G Internet - Need your advice!

I will be moving into an apartment unit soon. The property is still new so it will take some time before Unifi will be available.

I'm considering to apply for 4G internet for the time being until Unifi becomes available. It looks like I will only be using this 4G connection for only up to 3 months max.

Most MiFi providers require a 1-year contract which is a problem for me. Is there any way I can get around this? Is it possible for me to resume someone else's contract (if yes, where can I find users who wishes to terminate their contract before it is due?)
