Survey for Residential Security

Hi all,

We are currently gathering a survey on how safe you feel living in gated communities, apartments or condominiums. This is to help us to understand how we can push out AI based solutions to cater to these use cases.

Do help out to give your view if you happen to stay in these types of residents.

A very short survey (1-2minutes): https://forms.gle/RPhwJxRmp2TRzjFL9

Hi,

I am fully employed but have took up part timing job in the weekends. The employer said they will be contributing employer EPF, and I would need to contribute the rest by myself.

May I know how do I pay for SOCSO by myself?

How do I deposit into KWSP by myself. Is there an online platform for this?

For income tax, do I report my additional income during reporting period? Or do I have to make the appropriate payments per month or anually?

Newbie House Buyer

I am a newbie house buyer. Recently bought a place (Loan approved and signing the S&P and MOT soon).

Questions:
1) Is the bank money I loan come to immediate effect after I sign S&P? As in do I start paying for it monthly? The transition of money from bank to developer is automatic?
2) How much to pay for S&P and MOT law fees. Developer informed that the rest is covered by them.
3) Fire Insurance?? Lately I received a letter from an insurance company that states the policy of supposedly home insurance for my newly purchased property. No premium fee stated, therefore I contacted my bank friend and was told that it was a fire insurance and will only come into effect once the property is completed. (Currently property still being built) and the monthly commitment to the insurance will start then, charging me through my loan bank. Means I pay for it too while I pay for this loan. Since it is not stated how much is the premium, is it a standard fee? How much is it usually? Is it a scam? LOL

To Stay or To Leave?

I have accepted a new offer from another company and since resigned from my current company. Serving 3 months notice period at the moment,

On the day of resignation, my manager was quite sad I had to leave, and persuaded me to stay. The issue then got escalated to HR Manager doing the same, and lately my Director met me and offered to remove any obstacle or issue I have with current company to try to retain me. There is also a possibility of salary increment but this cannot be guaranteed as I am still young with only 2.5 years of working experience. But they promised they will look into all possibilities to retain me. I have to give them an answer soon on if I chose to stay/leave.

Another company, which I have accepted an offer with, provide a 20% pay increment from previous one, promising me challenging job and possibility of salary increment after seeing me in action for 6 months.

The reason I chose the new company in the first place was:
- Challenging job
- Chance to grow
- Career Development

I voiced this out to my Director, and the current company is willing to provide me the opportunity to work in any aspect I like in order to fulfill my career development, challenges and chance of growth within the company.

Anyone has any experience? How should I decide. Do people usually have a brighter future if they chose to stay after resigning?

Mental Preparation

I will be accepting a new job offer soon. Meaning to say I will be resigning from my current company (my first job).

A couple of questions. Do I tender my resignation straight after I sign the offer letter? Do I need to wait for any more confirmation from the new company?

And I know this is stupid, and I understand that, the company can always replace me. But, I feel like a betrayer to my colleagues if I am to resign. I am not letting this stop me, but is it normal to feel that way? And if anyone is experienced, what do you do to not feel this way?

Which is the smarter choice?

1) Big company with long history but has long past its glory days. Well respected still but slow moving. Upper management is trying their best to turn things around recently to go back to its peak years. Average to poor job satisfaction, but provides good stability and outstanding benefits. Average salary.

2) New rising company. Seems to have potential for growth. May need to work and fight extra hard to be respected within the region. Management is open and modern. Job satisfaction is high, but less stability and mediocre benefits. Above average salary. Warns of insane working hours due to start-up nature.

My considerations. I have quite heavy commitments, with house and future marriage coming soon. Company 1 seems to take care of me pretty well for these and gives me a sense of security. But I am less than satisfied with the job scope and the beliefs of the company. Company 2 is appealing to me but also very risky. Is it smart to take the risk just to try out new things?

Anyone with experiences? And what you learned from choosing either one.

Should I Quit?

This company is my first company since I graduated. Been working fine here, and I had a boss who heavily invested in me. I was provided the opportunity to learn, and grow. I got recognized fast for my skills. I get good appraisals and good bonus I would say.

But... lately things change. My boss left and replaced with new management. I felt like I wasn't invested in much anymore. Things start getting boring, I am given mundane jobs instead of challenging jobs. Practically sometimes I don't need to use my brain to do some of the tasks given.

I talked to my boss, and I was "insincerely" (not sure if it's just me), thrown to cross functional teams to make things better. It was okay for a while because I get to do more interesting stuffs being that I am loaned to different teams/departments.

Then, priorities argument came in. I was told that my tasks in my own team should always be prioritized. But the things I was given here made no sense and no significant contribution to the company. The cross functional teams had to oblige to the priorities thingy. I ended up spending only 10% of my effort in them, and losing focus. There's no motivation to do either job from anyone.

The company is good. Provided me with a lot of benefits. But recently I have been looking else where for a new job. I feel conflicted. Was my situation good enough for me to leave a good company?

New Employee No Work

I recently joined this company as a software developer. I was an intern here for quite a while before and was recruited back after i graduate. I studied E&E engineering and would count myself more than enough to work in the more "IT" section of software development.

Problem is, it has been slightly over 1 month now and I don't get any tasks. I had been assigned to very few small easy menial tasks that I complete within hours and spent most my time doing nothing. All my other colleagues are too busy themselves except me. I was told that I would be involved in upcoming projects which has yet to start but I'm still hoping that they get me involved a little in their current project to get me started and warm up a little.

I don't know what to do. Should I just wait quietly for my turn to be called from the bench? They had also assigned some of their work products for me to study. But after weeks, I don't know if I should keep studying or just do nothing. Any advice from experienced people here would help a lot.
