usb mouse and keyboard not detected

Hi sifus...

I got this error message when booting up my pc "Windows\system32\config\system file missing or corrupted."

Then I found a solution to replace the corrupted file from the windows\repair folder.

After reboot, it can boot into windows, but just show the start menu. Now the problem is, it can't detect the USB mouse and USB keyboard.

It can detect before it boot into windows (eg. I can go into setup utility using the keyboard or I can press F8 to boot into safe mode)

Any idea how to solve this?

additional information
i've tried to do troubleshooting
- try another mouse and keyboard
- try with others available usb port
- checked the usb setting in the BIOS
- move the hdd to another pc still the same prob (just try my luck)

PC Inspector File Recovery

Hi,

I got this software from a forum. it wrote

"I had the same problem on my desktop, booting Windows XP. On boot, instead of the logon screen, I got a message box from lsass.exe saying, "When trying to update a password, this return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct." Then the system would restart itself, and re-display the message, over and over.

I was eventually able to recover as follows:

1. I installed a second bootable drive in the PC and booted into it. Then the first (bad) drive (now labeled D:) was visible under Windows explorer.

2. I copied all "Security" files from D:/Windows/repair into D:/Windows/System32/config .

3. The drive would now boot again, but since I originally had a password at login time, all files under "My Documents" came back as "Not accessible" when trying to access them.

4. To recover the "Not accessible" files -- all my documents! -- I downloaded and ran PC Inspector File Recovery (free from Download.com) which worked great."

anyone knows how this software recover the not accessible files?
Cannot Detect Both of my HDD

Recently I added a slave HDD to my pc. Everything goes well from connecting it to IDE until I can use the slave HDD to save my files.

BUT, last few days I have this problem. when I on my pc, it will say "please insert a bootable device and press any key" (something like this, i dun remember the proper sentence). When I enter the BIOS, it cant detect BOTH the HDD.

I off my pc, remove the IDE and power from the slave HDD and restart, it works normally. Then, I off the pc and connect the slave HDD back, and start up the pc. It works normal again.

The problem occur average once in every 2 days. Very "ma fan"

Is the IDE cable prob or mother board or power or the slave HDD prob?? by the way, the slave HDD is an old HDD I get from my sister

HELP PLZZZZZZZ
