malaysian and the things we do to our vehicles

Lets start off that this is a light hearted observation. I too, find myself guilty of doing one or few of these things! without further adieu, here are some things malaysians like to do to our vehicles!

1. change to loud exhausts. nevermind if we drive a vehicle with engine size no larger than a mesin rumput, we love making it sound like Odin himself. friends can hear us coming from miles away! this applies to both cars and bikes, even lorries lately.

2. large rims. doesnt matter if our car will be slower, gives poorer mileage per gallon, as long as the car looks better with larger wheels! in fact, we often put in the largest possible, sometimes even willing to make the wheel archs larger just to fit the larger rims.

3. lowering the height. chiropractors love when people do this. cars with perfectly good comfort? no no no that wont do. we will change to sport springs and lower the car. why? for the looks of course! nevermind if we have backaches or drive through potholes at 5kmh speeds.

4. unrelated stickers and emblems. car doesn't have turbo? lets put a turbo emblem there! car is 1.8L and boring? paste some stickers that says "sport" or some other tuners stickers. instant 25% power increase! this really reminded me of those anti-radiation stickers that used to sell like hotcakes for handphones.

5. too much additional reflectors. some cars will scream "keep away" when you get near and had your headlights shining on them and realize it has so much reflectors pasted on it, like it is carrying explosives. jeez... sabar la bang, not everyone is blind.

6. darkened head and tail lamps. these are the opposite of #5 above. we just love to tint the headlamps. sometimes to the point the lights are barely visible to other road users.

7. spoilers and bodykits. these adds 50% horsepower. car manufacturers are quick to realize our love of bodykits, that they now include it as an extra package to all their models. dont matter if the car moves like a snail. asalkan nampak sporty.

8. reinforce bars. we malaysians love to be prepared in case we bring our cars into the race track. we install reinforced bars at all locations in the car. lets hope the trend dont extend to roll cages anytime too soon!

9. window tints. as dark as possible, or as dark as we can get away with. everyone wants their car to look like our mentri's cars. dark windows is all the rage. no less thanks to our hot weather, but do you know a good tint dont need to be dark to be effective?

10. car body wrap. do you know the invention of car paint is actually to protect the metal underneath? so what we love todo right now is protecting the protector. i think this is what happens when public schools forced the habit of membalut buku teks to us all when we were kids. thanks, skim pinjaman buku sekolah!

feel free to add. just for laughs ok, everyone.

Just asking.

Digi cheating usage again?

Few years back, There was an issue with Digi's calculation of our data usage, and hence many users quickly depleted their internet quota. I think this is happening again? I have mobile data counter enabled on my phone, so ALL mobile data usage will be logged and counted. I compared my daily usage with Digi's app counter, and guess what? There is a huge difference! My own counter shows 60+ MB used, but Digi's counter already exceed 100+MB used. Anyone else would like to try this out and see if it's true? If yes, we need to report this...again.

Thanks

looking for new telco to switch into

hi guys, i've been a long time maxis postpaid user. but lately i'm thinking of switching to other telcos, mainly because of poor VOICE & data coverage at my new address.

I moved to a new area and the voice/data is very poor. Often people on the other end of the phonecall can't hear me properly. To me, this is the very basic requirement for a phone, so maxis has to go. I have checked online, and people suggested I try VOL-Wifi (calls over wifi) but again I'm disappointed to learn that Maxis has no support for this, and not even VOLTE for my phone. I'm starting to lose confidence with maxis as the "best carrier in malaysia". So what do you guys suggest I jump to? Undoubtedly i I will test the voice quality before signing a new MNP but I would like to hear suggestions for the best package/carrier, please? Its been awhile since I compared telcos, so I'm rusty.

UPDATE (Resolution):
After doing some quick search on the internet, I found a simple solution and would like to share with everyone.
In the phone settings, under Preferred Network Type (Android) switching from 4G (LTE) back to 3G (HSPA+) has allowed me crystal clear VOICE quality on phone calls. Actually what this does is, it forces our phone to switch to the 3G band, which has wider coverage, and stronger signals. You can always toggle between 4G and 3G network type depending on your needs. For me, since at home I have a good wifi, i just leave it at 3G and now my voice calls are amazingly clear. Hope this helps someone else out there with the same problem about voice call quality.

Waze or GMaps?

Hi guys, I know this has been asked before, but my question is a bit different. For those of you in PJ area, which do you rate higher for getting you to destination the FASTEST in a car (hence this forum)? I personally hates it when Waze brings me to tight turning housing roads only to get stuck in jam again (which makes it worse since the road is single lane and tight). GMaps although only stick to main roads, it may not be the quickest (maybe)? What is your personal experience on this? Remember, we only discuss which one has the quickest/accurate navigation to reach a place fastest
