[Review] Illegear D9X

First time having such a powerful DTR with desktop components.
Had mine specced to:

i7 8700K, GTX1080 Single, 16GB RAM, SSD + 2TB Hybrid drive.

Heat was a bit unexpected, fans were adequate but loud. Headphones is almost a must.

Coming from ASUS's ROG G750, I expected similar cooling performance but to be honest the ASUS felt better, ran cooler and fans were less loud.

Not sure how to use the control centre, hope some Illegear sifus can help clarify..

Hi guys,

Am looking to replace my weekend ride which is a sweet Lotus Elise S at the moment. Am looking to get a WRX STI v8/9 as I've always wanted to try out a turbo 4WD. Evos used to appeal to me but I guess as we all grew up we start to lust for something different..

The boxer sound is so addictive.

So my question is, any problems that one should look out for in getting a WRX STI?

I do not like the hatchback and newer gen, only will consider v8/9 as it is more............ nicer looking.

Problem with RX480 - Overwatch

I am using a custom rig just built. i7 7500, 16GB RAM, ASUS Strix RX480 8GB.

While playing Overwatch (ONLY OW) - my graphics cards will some times crash and freeze without reason.

I have played other games which are way more graphics intensive (The Witcher 3) without issues but for OW sometimes without reason or warning it will freeze and the only option is to restart.

Anyone have the same problem?

[REVIEW] Samsung CFG70 - 24"

Just got a CFG70 24" @ RM17XX from Lazada (XX as I can't remember). Got it with 20% discount and a free Razer Deathadder.

Display:
Best if you take a look at videos online. The display colors are fantastic and typically Samsung. Backlighting is awesome and can be blindingly bright, but can be adjusted to a very comfortable level. Colors are vivid and supposedly of a wide gamut – I can’t testify to that but it looks great. No QHD / 4k here but response times are fantastic.

Functions:
3 buttons at the bottom gives the ability to swap between presets. I find them super useful. One for quick FPS like games give the ability to have better contrast and ability to spot better. One for RPGs gives fantastic blacks, vivid colors to truly immerse one into the game and the other – Eye Saver Mode to be there for work. Brilliant.
Am sure the control mechanism had been talked about a few times but using a joystick method to navigate the monitor menu is a brilliant idea. This is the easiest monitor to get to grips with, and with controls so easy – you won’t mind rifling thru the menus to look for settings.

Cost:
Expensive. This is not a budget monitor. But I reckon if one is getting a good gaming PC, the most important thing is to get a good monitor. The Samsung is great. With 144Hz support and Freesync – this encourages a decent RX480 build and you are good to go.

Verdict: 10/10 would buy.

ASUS ROG G750JM

Hi there,

I've had my G750 for around 3 years. It's the G750JM with the GTX860M.

After upgrading to Win10, I lost the use of GPUTweak software from ASUS that claimed helps apply a soft overclock on the GPU to speed things up.

Since then I felt the performance level dropped somehow. I have recently turned to MSI Afterburner since ASUS software does not support Win10 anymore. But I feel that the system is not as smooth as it can be.

Case in point: I play Overwatch - and struggle to get 60fps in the menus. In game looks fine and 60fps is ok but not in the menus and worst case is that I am not even on max settings.

Any G750 users out there have any ideas? Cheers.

SMITE - Battleground of the Gods - V1

Anyone here play SMITE by Hi Rez Studios?

SMITE is a MOBA in the form of an action game, objectives are similar to Dota where you destroy the enemy Ancient (named Titan in SMITE), but before getting to the Titan, you are required to take down strategic objectives in between - namely Towers & Phoenix.

Since Dota2 is the most widely played MOBA in LYN, let me just use it to easily summarize up SMITE:

0. Heroes --> Gods in SMITE
1. Ancients --> Titans in SMITE
2. Towers --> Towers in SMITE
3. Tier 4 Towers --> Phoenix in SMITE (these towers are the last defense before the Titan, can be destroyed, and revive automatically - hence the name Phoenix)
4. Creeps --> Still called creeps in SMITE. These buggers never change
5. Roshan --> Fire Giant, Bull King in SMITE. Different map have different AI Bosses and gives different rewards.
6. Runes/Pickups --> Camps in SMITE. There are multiple camps (with different creeps) that can be killed for damage boost, mana boost, gold or exp.
7. Hero Classes --> Similar. There is the assassin type, hunter type, mage type that corresponds to Dota's carry, support, tank, nukers, etc. If you have played MOBAs before you will get the hang in no time.

Objectives:
Different game modes have different objectives.
1. Conquest: Like Standard Dota (5v5) - you spawn at one end, the opponent at the other. You aim to destroy each other's titan.
2. Joust: 3v3 game that is like Dota mid only. You spawn at one end, the opponent at the other. Aim to destroy each other's Titan.
3. Arena: Quicker mode for PVP, starts at Lv3, faster exp and gold, 5v5. Ticket style ala Battlefield. If you die, your team loses tickets. If your creeps make it to the opponent's base, they lose tickets. Killing creeps also reduces tickets. Game ends when tickets = 0.
4. Assault: 5v5, one lane protected by two towers and a Phoenix. There is no jungle or neutral camps. Randomly picked God, and players are only able to purchase items while inside their spawn. Once they leave their spawn they are unable to return until they die.

It's FREE to PLAY but heroes need to be bought with in game currencies. It is possible to play for free but I recommend getting the ultimate god pack that unlocks the entire roster + new gods to come.

I like it when my Carries:
1. Gank when possible.
2. Don't solo and die.
3. Keep an eye on the map.
4. Appreciate support players.
5. Always bring dust when there are invi opponents.

My playstyle as a Support:
1. I always counter-pick. Never settle on 1 support hero style.
2. I allocate ward resources to ensure relevant vision.
3. I aim to deward and deny vision.
4. I wait for a good initiation and move to disable opponents to ensure carries obtain kill.
5. I do not solo a lane and always prioritize farm for my carries.

Seems like this counter is worth the money as my initial analysis to value the stock at 0.95.

What do you think? It sure seems like interest in this stock is growing.B% is at an all time high 27%.

To make it more clearer, the HEVs consist of hybrids such as the Toyota Prius, Estima Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, Honda Insight, Civic Hybrid and other hybrid vehicles not listed as well.

Do you guys mind helping out a lady friend of mine who is doing her Masters research on the factors influencing the purchase of hybrid cars in Malaysia. Basically it is about why people will want to buy hybrid cars.

The results of the research can help in determining why people would want to buy hybrid cars such as the Honda Insight Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid, Toyota Estima Hybrid etc, and perhaps can give you an idea on how to maintain/sell your cars in the future.

Guys, Need help selecting a DSLR!

Hi Guys and Sifu's here, My name is Kelvin and I am looking to purchase a DSLR. My current budget is around 4-4.5k max and so I am looking at 2 cameras, the Nikon D90 and Canon EOS 500D.

The D90 is going for RM4.1k with 18-105mm VR Kit Lens and the Canon EOS 500D is going for 4.5k with 18-200mm IS Bundle Lenses. Well here is my question, as a newbie to DSLR's, is it better more me to get the D90 and get the 18-105mm kit lens and then upgrade later once my skills are more polished?

Or is it better value to get the 18-200mm for the Canon EOS 500D? - I'm in dilemma now because the Canon can take better HD Videos than the D90, but the D90 has (Arguably) better build and better feeling for me.. And for 4.5k, I will be able to get the Canon Bundle with the 18-200mm, which I heard is a quite good zoom lens..

I have tried both DSLRs and as my friend has an 500D, I have been to the malls and felt the D90 for myself, I feel it has good build and albeit a bit heavier, I like the D90.

So Sifu's, please enlighten and help me! xD - Of which is the better choice? Of course, other alternatives are welcome~! =)

P/S: I heard that Amcorp Mall in PJ is a great place to get DSLRs because of the competitive pricing, are there any places with good prices as well? *Laughs*
