The assessment test is supposed to be the second level, after the phone interview and before the interview with the HR and Line managers. This is for the position of management trainee, specifically the Operations side. It was written there an hour and half, and all I need to bring is a calculator.

Anyone been through it and knows what they'll test you in? Thanks.

Need some help here guys, if anyone of you are familiar with using serial port with VB 6. I guess it is ancient, but it's simple to use for my Final Year Project.

And I made my microcontroller which is connected to the PC using the serial port to send ASCII character A at an interval using the USART function. The form is made up of just a textbox. However, it's not appearing on my VB applications, although I made sure both their baud rate, etc2 is similar. Am I missing something out here?

what is an accredited course?

accredited courses means that the course have been assessed by a board elected by the industry specific to the course to make sure it complies to the minimum standard set by the industry. Lembaga Akreditasi Negara is the official government body that is mandated to provide assessment on the courses using meticulous and uncomprimising scrutiny towards the accreditation.

accredited course would simply mean it complies to every standard set by the industry.

why do i need to go to an accredited course?

currently, the best reason why to go to an accredited course is PTPTN loan (financial support) is only given to those attending an accredited course. PTPTN works hand-in-hand with LAN to facilitate students financial process, and to make sure only those with accredited course will get the benefit of government loan.

other reasons would be, the industry will be able to accept u immediately as a potential employee without any scrutinization of the validity of ur degree/diploma.

what if i dont go to an accredited course?

first, u cant get a loan from PTPTN. chances are, it'll be very hard for u to get loans from any banks either.

but some firms in the industry might be able to take u in as a potential employee if they are desperate enough, or the job they have for u is of a lower responsibility factor. usually they will take u in as a trainee, and assess ur capabilities up to 2 years before taking u in as a fulltime employee.

can the accreditation expire?

yes it can. usually, accreditation takes place every 5 years. LAN will send a panel of assessors to the institution/college to assess their curriculum/syllabus/facilities so that it complies to the standard. usually, applying for first time accreditation is harder than continuing an accreditation.

if an accreditation expires, or pending for assessment, LAN will announce it loud and clear in their website. it is good that u go and check the website occasionally.

what if i joined the course a year before the accreditation expires? will my degree valid by the time i graduate, say in 3 years time?

usually, it will still be valid. those who join the course AFTER the accreditation expires will not get accreditation for their degree/diploma. but there's a chance also that u might not get accreditation if LAN deems the standard is way too low for industry. in such cases, u can demand a certain reimbursement from the college, and opt to change college to another accredited college.

i heard there's an official rating system used to evaluate the courses of private schools/colleges in malaysia. where can i find those, and what are the ratings used?

the rating is given based on course, not the school/college. so although the school have a very high rating, it doesnt necessarily guarantee that the particular course u r looking for is rated as high. the list above also includes course name, field of study, level of education (cert, dip or degree), period of accreditation and when the next accreditation is due.

course are given ratings of "very competitive, competitive and less competitive"
