Car broke down

Hello bro/sis,

If my car broke down somewhere in Klang Valley, it can't start. Meantime, I don't have any reliable contacts for towing services or car mechanic。What can I do?

I'm asking because, I read a lot of news, some strangers may approach you and offer the towing / repairing services for you. However, these big sharks will only reveal their true faces when your car has brought over to their service factory.

They will then start claim that your car has serious problems and many parts have damage and eventually want you to pay a big sum to them (potong leher). And you can't do anything because your car is already on their hand. Police normally won't pay attention to this kind of small cases.

Is there a better solution if I face the similar scenario next time?

Thanks.

UM MBA

Anyone who pursue UM MBA before/now, if I start UM MBA course on SEP16 and wish to finish before July 2018, do you think it is possible? I plan to do it part time, my working hours is MON-FRI, 830am-530pm.

There are 10 core subjects (30 credit hours), 5 electives (15 credit hours) and thesis (6 credit hours), total 51 credit hours.

Semester time table as below:
-----------------------------------
Semester 1: SEP - FEB

Semester 2: FEB - JULY

Special Semester: JULY - SEP

My Planning
--------------
_______________________ 2016_________2017______________2018
Sem II (Feb-July)_____________________3 subjects_________4 subjects
Special Sem(July-Sep)_________________2 subjects_________	-
Sem I (Sep-Jan)________3 subjects______3 subjects_________Thesis
Total Credit hours_______9_____________24_______________18

As we know, UM MBA only offer class on weekdays. If you were me, do you think u can make it?

I heard some says
1) CMGB6335 : Seminar in Information Systems Research (3 credit hours)
2) CMGB6103 Research Methods in Business (3 credit hours)
are courses which require NO EXAM, basically just sit in the class and you will pass, how true is it?
If so, these courses seems something simple and therefore if I take up to 4 subjects (include CMGB6335 & CMGB6103 ) in Sem II 2018 + a thesis, it also won't increase my burden too much? Am I right?

Thanks.

Master or Phd?

Hi Bro/Sis,

I am a programmer working in IT industry for about 12 years. Previously I was graduated in University of Malaya holding a bachelor's degree in computer science. Now, I am planning to further my study to pursue a Master or Phd, hopefully in Part-Work, Part-Study mode.

My Objectives:
-To study a Master/Phd program which can really beneficial and applicable to my future career
-Course should be finished within 2 years (plus minus)
-If there is any unexpected incidents, the faculty could allow the student to temporary delay one/two semester and then continue back the study later (Though it is less likely)
-The certificate given by the university/college should be recognized by the industry. For example, most programs offered by government university is well recognized by local MNC company; some institution may offer courses with low cost & easy to pass, however, it is not recognized by the market.
-As I am study in Part-Work, Part-Study mode, time could be a constraint for me. I wish the course can be not too hard to study and pass (For example, MBA offer by University Malaya required 51 credit hours whereas some other government university may just need 30 credit hours).

Here is my plan:

I have two options:-
1) To study MBA - As my future career could be in managing area, I think it could be helpful for me
2) To study Computer Science - Same as before, and I could learn something technical in IT fields.
>If you were me (or those who has the same background as me), which one will you choose? 1 or 2 or you have better course to recommend? Reasons?

Master or Phd:-
>Assuming I am qualify to take the Phd programs (either Phd in Business Administration or Phd in Computer Science), are these courses really difficult to study? For example, need to study 1000 journal and do many publication? Will the supervisor help us on this? It is easy to fail? Is there many group assignments? Or any other concerns where you can share?
>Major differences between Master and Phd? (Ie. Scoring format, Assignment format, Mentality wise...)
>Will you choose to study Phd and why?

Course work or Research or Mix
>Those who have experience on taking Master/Phd in Business Administration/Computer Science, which course mode will you recommend and why?
>Taking Mix mode may need us to do the research/thesis anyway on top of course work, might as well we straight away taking the Research Mode, I heard we no need to to attend the lecture if we take research mode, will that be a lot more easier?

Government university or other private institution
> Which university & What Master/Phd course (in the following fields) will you recommend?
1) Business Administration or equivalent
2) Computer Science or equivalent

Thank you.
