After the release of Iphone X and Samsung Note 8, HUAWEI is joining the flagship war with their Mate 10 & Mate 10 Lite in the coming 16 october 2017 in Munich, Germany.

From Source, Mate 10 will have

-A bezel-less, 6-inch, 18:9 ratio?
-A 2,160 x 1,080 resolution
-4 camera (2 front, 2 rear) (With Leica?)
-Kirin 970

Mate 10 (It seem like still no OLED in the coming up Mate 10 (whats wrong with Huawei loving the thick black bezel)

Capturing images in RAW format

The P10 & the P10 Plus definitely has some cool camera features pack within. One of it is the capability to shoot in pro mode. There is a hidden feature in it to capture images in RAW format thus rather than letting the camera process the image, shooting in raw allows you to process the image to our needs. It is one of the best ways to have total control over your images in post-processing.

To make it simple for the average users like us(hahaha), RAW format will capture all image data recorded by the camera sensor & no image information will be compressed & lost. This generates higher quality images compared to saving in other formats.

You guys can follow this simple steps to enable the RAW file format:
Swipe left on the screen, and then turn on the RAW format switch.

Kindly take note guys that only photos taken in Pro camera mode can be captured in RAW format. The file will be saved in JPEG and DNG formats on the internal storage (camera file).

Swipe up beginning on the small white box. After this you will see the Pro Mode and RAW symbol pop up.

Proceed taking the photo as usual. After capturing the image you may find the RAW image in your camera folder on internal storage as .dng file.

Hope this helps guys! The uncompressed images are superb for me to edit it on my pc.

What WiFi+ Can do

Most of us may have stumbled upon the WiFi+ setting in their mobile device (for example a Honor device) but do you actually know what does it actually do? When Wi-Fi+ is enabled, your Wi-Fi connectivity will be evaluated to provide smart network switching .

Wi-Fi+ will automatically:
 Switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data to provide a smooth internet experience.
 Turns on Wi-Fi when in range of a known Wi-Fi network and connects to it.
 Evaluates available Wi-Fi networks. Device will not auto-connect to save networks without an internet connection.

There will have a reminder when the phone switches from a Wi-Fi network to a mobile data network. You can disable these prompts by selecting Do Not Remind Again.

Some usage scenarios example:

1.When user walks into a known Wi-Fi range, Wi-Fi+ will automatically turn on Wi-Fi and connect. When leaving the Wi-Fi range, Wi-Fi+ automatically shut down Wi-Fi
2.Based on previous connection history, when there are several available Wi-Fi ,Wi-Fi+ will automatically turn on Wi-Fi and connect to the one with the most strong signal strength.
3.When the signal strength of Wi-Fi is weaker than mobile data, Wi-Fi+ will not turn on Wi-Fi. Otherwise, Wi-Fi+ will help to automatically turn on Wi-Fi and connect.

There are two ways for users to enable the WiFi+ function:
First method is by Click " Settings - > WLAN-> Wi-Fi+ " to turn on and off.

Second method is by Click "Settings ->More ->Link+->Wi-Fi+ -> Wi-Fi+ settings " to turn on and off.

I have tried it & it works great! Any comments?

1.Turn off Bluetooth. As long as Bluetooth is enabled, it will continue to consume battery power, and it also transmits some viruses. Disable Bluetooth when you are not using it.

2.Don't turn on the auto-sync feature until you need it. Android's auto-sync is very useful, but it will frequently use your Internet connection. Turn it off when not needed to prolong battery life.

3.Turn off Wi-Fi when it is not needed. Wi-Fi is also very useful, but it is normally only needed when you are at home or in the office. If Wi-Fi is on, your phone will constantly search for available networks. Disable it when it is not needed or go to the Wi-Fi advanced settings and turn off Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep.

4.Turn off keypad tones and haptic feedback. These features will consume additional battery power when you carry out operations on your phone. As they are not essential, turn them off to increase battery life.

5.Turn off vibrations. The motor used to power them consumes a considerable amount of battery, so turn them off when not required.

6.Reduce the screen brightness as much as possible. Maximum brightness is not normally required and is one of the worst culprits for draining the battery. Reducing brightness is therefore one of the best ways to increase battery life.

7.Turn off GPS. In most situations, GPS is not normally required, so turn it off when you finish using a map service.

5 Huawei & Honor Best Features

In recent years, Huawei have proven themselves as the game changer in current smartphone market with introduction of awesome devices such as the P9, P9 Plus, Honor 8 & also the newly launched Mate 9. From my point of view, it seems their refined EMUI with its own HiSilicon Kirin chipset together with collaboration with Leica have boosted up their branding & market share to capture more Samsung & Apple users (Am I right? Hehe)

So here are 5 Huawei & Honor features that I would like to highlight:

1. Always-listening
The Huawei Mate 8 comes with some innovative features within. The voice control lets you operate the Mate 8 entirely hands-free with the ability to trigger a voice command, even when the phone is locked, and its screen is off.
Huawei does this by always listening for a "trigger word", which by default is... "Okay, Emy." Once triggered, it awaits further voice instructions, like placing a call. Speech awareness is also customizable. You can record your voice to configure the record wakeup keyword as image below. The wake-up phrase can be changed, (okay emy) to a wakeup keyword of your choice. When you frequently use this feature, it will train the device to recognize your voice better.

2. Knuckle Gestures
With these features, you can use your knuckles on the screen to capture a normal, scrolling (very useful) or cropped screenshot, or initiate screen-recording. The usability is similar between Mate 8 & P9/P9 plus knuckle gesture. You can also use your knuckles to draw letters in order to open applications (letters ‘c’, ‘e’, ‘m’ and ‘w’, so four shortcuts in total). These work surprisingly well for the easier gestures, scrolling screenshots & screen recording.

3. One – Hand UI Mode
Even with big hands, using a chunky phone one-handed such as the Mate 9 or the Mate 8 isn't an easy task. Huawei looks to help people use it comfortably with a special "One-hand UI" mode. It's also available on the Huawei P9 & P9 Plus.

Enabled by default, it works by minimizing an app or page screen size. For those times when you wish the phone’s display was a bit smaller, you might want to turn on the phone’s One-hand UI setting which shrinks the phone’s interface and positions it on either side of the phone.

4. Fingerprint security & sensor
A unique feature on most of Huawei & Honor devices is the Fingerprint sensor. It can be use to unlock the screen, access the Safe and App Lock, and authorize payments in third-party applications. For additional security and to ensure that you can still access your data if your phone fails to recognize your fingerprint, there is an option to set a backup password when configuring fingerprint unlock.

In addition to waking and unlocking the screen, the fingerprint sensor can also be used to take a photo, answer an incoming call, and disable an alarm. You can also touch or swipe the sensor with any finger to perform common tasks.

5. Dual Leica Camera
The P9 Mobile Phone was released on April 6 in London, and it features an eight million-pixel camera in front and a rear-facing, 12 million-pixel, ultra-high-resolution camera. Now note the word Leica just next to it. Indeed, Huawei and Leica have recently announced their cooperation, bringing the decades of optical technology to Huawei products.

Now let's take a look at the P9's Camera interface:

From the Camera interface, scroll up to the snapshot interface and there will be some indexes as seen in the photograph below. The phone will enter Professional Camera mode:

You can manually adjust the settings parameters according to your photography needs and produce the best quality picture.
ISO: For light sensitivity, this adjusts the camera’s sensitivity to light. Adjusting the ISO will have a noticeable effect on exposure and image quality. A high ISO value can make up for a lack of light, but the image noise will increase. Supports both manual and automatic adjustment.
S: Fast shutter speed, controls photo exposure time. Supports both manual and automatic adjustment.
EV: Exposure compensation. Select an exposure value to make it darker or lighter. Hold down this icon to lock the exposure value.
AF: For focus types, supports automatic single focus, automatic consecutive focus, and manual focus. The default is set to automatic consecutive focus. While in automatic consecutive focus mode, hold this icon to activate the focus lock.
AWB: Color balance, adjusts the color balance in photos. Provides many types of color balance parameters to adapt to varying lighting levels, such as sunlight, incandescent lighting, and fluorescent lighting; it also provides professional-grade color temperature K values. Hold down this icon to lock the color balance.

More or less, it's quite similiar with Mate 9's UI. So what do you guys think of other best features on Huawei & Honor phone?

Version Upgrade Tips

Hello guys. Recently my Mate 7 went haywire & cannot boot at all. Somehow I screwed up during the updating process. After a quick googling search, finally I manage to recover my phone. I think this is a good info to share about the version & upgrade method if something fails..

Now there are many current factors which leads to version upgrades of smartphone. In order to better understand the development, testing and release of version upgrade, we can divide the smartphone OS versions into two classes: U version & M Version

U Version: is a ROM upgrade that involves Google Android and EMUI version upgrade or the combination of these situations. Example: the upgrade from Android KK(4.4) to Android L(5.1), EMUI2.3 to EMUI3.0
M Version: is a Maintenance Version Upgrade. It is mainly for correcting Bugs in the system and lowering the FFR. Example: Series of upgrade for Bug fix and performance optimization.

Version Release and Upgrade Methods
SD card release method:
The update package shall be downloaded to the SD card from official website or forums.
OTA release method:
Users will get notification on their respective phones about upgrade package availability to download via server. In addition users can upgrade versions through HiCare.

Step 1: Upgrade HiCare to the latest version in HiApp.
Step 2: Open HiCare “Mobile Phone Service” – Upgrade Application – System Update – Check for update – Download and Install

eRecovery
If upgrade fails, user can use the eRecovery System. eRecovery system is mainly used in the situation that smart terminal can not boot for some reasons (for example: phone error caused by ROM upgrade or software abnormality) which exclude hardware problem. Upgrade package can be downloaded from OTA server through eRecover with a simple operation.

Method 1: System prompts to enter automatically when an error is detected. Then System error prompt interface will appear after the boot. Please follow the instructions to enter main interface of eRecovery system.

Method 2: eRecovery via EMUI Recovery. Just connect the mobile phone to power with USB charger. Touch-hold “volume +” key for more than 5 seconds immediately after boot, then boot screen and eRecoverry system main interface appears. Select “Download the latest version and recover”.
