Hi all!

I have a Wira 1.5 Gli Special Edition automatic. I want to know, between 6a10 auto, 4g91 auto, and 4g92p auto, which of the 3 is the best value-for-money to attain power without extensive mods? Budget not high, thus not wanting to go for 4g93t. I'm willing to do breathing mod, suspension mod, and adding an atf cooler, since it's automatic box.

Need help and advice on my Proton Wira SE.

Hi all lowyat forumers.

I have some thoughts on converting my automatic Wira Special Edition (aeroback variant) engine. It's currently on 4g15 3speed auto gb. The pickup is horrible, even with air condition off. Also, the top speed is rubbish. Barely can hit 160.

For now, I'm keen to convert it to Mitsu 6a10 v6 engine. Probably automatic as well cause it's cheap, as manual is extremely difficult to source.

My concern are, is the bone stock 6a10 automatic pickup, top speed, and power delivery better than my 4g15 auto gb? If so, is the power delivery of 6a10 automatic similar, if not, better than the new toyota vios or honda city 1.5 power delivery, and top speed?

Wira Special Edition (WiSE) Modification

Modifications

Engine / Suspension / Management

First Stage Modification

1. Transplant 6A10 (AT), either rebuild from halfcut or overhaul halfcut.
2. Installing Fuel Pressure Regulator.
3. Installing ATF Cooler (transmission) and Engine Oil Cooler (engine oil).
4. Uprate FW brake to twin-pot/single big pot brakes with ventilated disc.
5. Uprate RW brake to twin-pot/single big pot brakes with solid disc.
6. Uprate tyre size from 195/55/15 to 205/45/16 (with Bridgestone Potenza RE003)
7. Uprate wheel size from 15', 7jj to 16' inches 7.5jj.
8. Uprate absorbers and springs to adjustable / or Eibach Spring with Koni Yellow.
9. Setting up bars (front 2-p strut, front lower, middle lower, side lower, rear brace, rear lower, rear stabilizer).
10. Lightening crank pulley.
11. Customizing 2.25' downpipe with sports exhaust catback system (resonator is included).

The above states my list of modifications or preventive management for my engine 6A10 AT transplant into my bone stock 4g15p AT.

Questions

With the above, I have a few questions. Herein seek sifu2 sekalian advice.

1. Where may I source / transplant a 6A10 into my Wira?
2. What are the likely cost nowadays for a 6A10 transplant into my Wira?
3. How would the Fuel Pressure Regulator assist in my build?
4. Would the ATF Cooler like Works Engineering prolong the gearbox lifespan (as mitsu v6 GB are prone to problems)?
5. Would the Engine Oil Cooler be an important preventive management for this build?
6. Would the twin-pot / single-pot upgrade using Evo123 parts be possible?
7. Would the 16' 7.5jj or 8jj tyres be too much of a burden for the tiny V6?
8. Would Eibach Spring with Koni Yellow be sufficient to balance the car geometry sufficiently?
9. Would the lightening crank pulley move be advisable, or lightening flywheel is more appropriate for increasing engine rev response?
10. Would the 2.25' downpipe with sports exhaust catback system deliver the right airflow (bonus, for the crisp sound of V6 too?)?

Modifications on V6 6A10 DOHC (AT) on Wira Special Edition Body

Sifu2 sekalian, herein I need advice on the following questions below after reviewing everywhere on topics as below. Constructive feedbacks are highly appreciated.

Target BHP - 130 (at 3500 RPM onwards, regardless top RPM HP)
Target TQ - 17.5kg (at 3500 RPM onwards, regardless top RPM)
Target F/R weight ratio - 60/40
Target Ride Feel - 75% comfort, 25% performance (no horse riding, maybe a little is fine)

Q1 - is it possible to fit single or twin turbo to the 6a10 without drastic space modification (assuming we using two TD04 for this case)? If yes, how would single turbos or twin turbo function herein regards to torque delivery (for eg, single turbo delivers all the additional torque at higher RPM range) and also, would the auto tranny sustain the torque in regards to reliability (provided with Works Engineering ATF Cooler)? I'm aiming for lower torque delivery (between 0-100 km/h) as the engine is heavy and sluggish to begin with, whereas power delivery between 100-200 with minor improvement would be more than sufficient for my likings.

Q2 - is it possible to fit / install supercharger bolt-on to the 6a10 without drastic space modifications? If yes, what supercharger item I may use for this case and would the auto tranny be able to sustain the torque delivery in regards to reliability (provided with Works Engineering ATF cooler)?

Q3 - is it possible to restroke from 1.6L to 1.8L / 2.0L (yes, it's illegal) underneath the hood? If yes, are they customized pistons or are there potential stock pistons from other engines makes as it may be cheaper that way (also, do I need standalone ECUs or piggybacks to sort the firing order or ignition timing)?

Q4 - with more displacements and/or turbocharging / supercharging increment, can my auto tranny withstand the torque delivery in regards to reliability assuming if I had ATF Coolers to support? Likewise, if it's not possible to maintain the torque with the 6a10 stock GB, may I utilize 4g93T or 6a12TT stock auto GB in this case (if not, what gearboxes may suit this application assuming if possible)?

Q5 - is it possible to balance the F/R ratio to 60/40 and reducing the understeering nature by a margin of the car with 6a10 under the hood (currently considering to go for Eibach 1.6/1.8 with Koni Yellow, or TEIN Coilover Adjustable, 75% comfort and 25% performance, can't withstand horse riding)

Yes, 4g93T is a better option overall due to less headache in maintenance, reliability, power to weight ratio, F/R weight ratio, and handling characteristics.

With that being said, I still prefer to stick to 6a10 for it's uniqueness and for the sound that it makes. I'm keen in trying to develop a reliable and deliverable machine for a V6 WiSE for personal preference collection. Call me crazy or dumb-founded.

Wira Special Edition - GSR 4G93T Transplant

Dear LYN / Professional Modifiers / Sifus,

This is my weekend car, a Proton Wira Special Edition 1.5 GLi Auto.

Now, as the title had stated, I'm looking into modification for this car. Hereby, allow me to state my objectives or modification goals in which I would like to achieve with this car.

Modification Objectives
-Building a sleeper (stock on the looks outside, a driving machine beneath the hood)
-Building a driving machine that has torque (but I still wants to drive an Automatic).
-Building a driving machine that is comfortable for a family car (stiff is fine, but not bumpy).

I had good talks and times with multiple people that includes both users and mechanics in regards to what sort of modification options that I may have or do, for this nostalgic and famous classic car in Malaysia. In addition to that, I've been lurking around forums and discussion sites in regards to the modification available to this car as well.

Now, I have an idea (or at least, a plain drafted idea) to transplant a 4G93T Auto (1.8L DOHC, MPI Turbocharged) engine into my Wira SE. With this mentioned, I am concerned with a few questions in which I hope experienced or knowledgeable people here may contribute or give opinions about (I am open to both positive and negative feedback).

The following lists downs my current Proton Wira SE condition and specifications.

Model - Proton Wira Special Edition (WiSE) '03
Bodykit - Proton Wira Special Edition Original Bodykit
Chassis - C97.
Transmission - Automatic Transmission with 3 gears only (F3A21, stock)
Ownership - First hand since 2003.
Mileage - 65,000 kilometers (+-)
Engine Battery - Century Ultramax.
Engine Oil - Shell Helix HX7 10W-40 (semi synthetic oil, 5k mileage lifespan).
Starter - VR4 Starter.
Auto Transmission Fluid - Proton donno what oil.
Oil Usage - Ron95 (generally, commonly).
Shock Absorbers - IMP Comfort Shock Absorbers (mixture of Nitrogen gas charged shocks, sport shocks, non-adjustable).
Spring - Stock spring. (unsure whether it's a WiSE stock springs or 1.6 springs)
Suspension Mounting - Stock rubber mounting.
Suspension Bushing - Stock bushing.
Tyre - Toyo NanoEnergy3 195/55/R15.
Brake Settings - Front disc, rear drum.
Brake - Stock brake pads.
Crank Pulley - Stock crank pulley.
Rims - Aftermarket SSR 15' sport rims (matte black colour).
Timing Belt - Stock timing belt (just replaced it as it had recently reached 60,000 km)
ECU - Stock Siemens VDO.
Engine - Stock 4g15 SOHC engine.
Extractor - Stock 4/2/1 extractor.
Exhaust System - Stock Wira Special Edition (WiSE) exhaust muffler and pipe.
Air Filter - Stock air filter box.
Throttle Body - Stock TB 42mm.
Carb / FI - Stock fuel injection panel.
Spark Plug - Stock copper spark plug (replaced recently, for wear and tear prevention measures).
Radiator - Stock radiator (13 years old)
Air-Condition Fan - Stock air-cond fan (just replaced cause had broken down).
Door Lining - Stock body and door rubber lining (had just replaced recently, for RM450).
Anti Roll Bar - Modded 1.6 lower rear arm with 16mm UR ARB.

Now, I would like to know if possible,

Questions
1. Where may I source for a 4G93T halfcut transplant (either halfcut alone or inclusive of transplanting as well)?
2. How much would it cost roughly (buying halfcut alone, transplanting, and/or inclusive of endorsing as well)?
3. What do I need to look out for when I'm looking for a halfcut 4G93T (potential defects, damage, or signs of not to buy)?
4. What is the maintenance alike and what should I use for maintenance, once I had converted to GSR 4G93T?
5. How is the reliability of GSR 4G93T engine, gearbox, and other components?
6. May I use back my stock Wira SE dashboard instead of the GSR Dashboard?
7. Is it possible to endorse a 4G93T in my Wira now, according to JPJ guidelines?

Besides the questions above, if you have any suggestions, advice, or comments related to the engine conversion to my Wira as stated above, kindly do feel free to participate on this topic. I would like to set this car as my weekend car, where it is enjoyable to ride in, has power and comfort while able to take corners slightly faster than the settings now, as well as a new benchmark to those who wishes to modify their Wira (regardless SE, AB, Sedan) to similar engine transplant like mine as a reference. BMW E90 LCI Model - Facelifted

Dear Sifu(s) / Beemer(s) / BMW Specialist(s) / Experienced People(s),

I would like to purchase a used/secondhand BMW 3-Series E90 Facelifted LCI Model, probably year made from 2009 to year 2011, as I'm a big fan of BMW and by heart, wanting to be a Beemer. As I'm inexperienced with the automotive world, I would like to seek help and advice from sifu(s), beemer(s), BMW Specialist(s), and experienced people in LYN to give me a better understanding and for me to be prepared to own one BMW E90 (I don't mind to come out for coffee, chilling session, or meetups, the treats on me). I understand that this car is not cheap to maintain by nature, and I should not expect this car (maintenance, road tax, insurance cost) to be the same as my Proton Wira SE '08. Thus, I will be as detailed as possible regarding my financial strengths and my potential daily driving usage of the new BMW for I would like to understand the potential outcome of driving a BMW, the UDM.

Objective of this Post
-Can I afford a used BMW E90/E60?
-Where can I find a good used car dealer/good used BMW car?
-What should I look out for (potential signs of bad car owner, resulting in bad car condition)?
-How much should I standby for the used BMW (from the initial stages of purchasing it)?
-Reliability of the BMW E90 LCI Model

*About Myself*
-Personally, I'm just a typical Chinese dude who works in an IT company that has no family commitments (girlfriend is not in this category, right? ), no car commitments, and no housing commitments. I would most probably drive this car (E90) for the purpose of point A to point B (nothing more than 5,000km in 2-3 months) and sometimes love couple weekend trip within Malaysia (Melaka, Penang, Johor, etc) and maybe once in a blue moon to Thailand and Singapore. I would need to meet important people like CEOs, COOs, CFOs, Directors, VPs, Datuks and the list goes on, thus, I need something of value like a E90 to ride with these people. My driving style is moderately relaxing (mostly in traffic jams with 10-80 km/h, highways at 110-130 km/h, and sometimes if empty road at 150 km/h and above). I'm not a heavy right footer, but occasionally when I need the power to overtake some stupid lorries, buses, or irritating fast lane hoggers, I would pedal to the metal. Given the fact that if it's a BMW, I might ride at 160-180 km/h on highways when I'm travelling far to places like Ipoh, Kuantan, and etc. I'm would be bias to and wants more of a comfort ride (wants great tolerance to bumpiness, dampings, and extremely low NVH, road noise, wind noise) than to performance driving (super cornering speed, drifting, pickup, topspeed, and the list goes on), basically, a guy who wants comfort and luxury driving than to a sports car.

In addition to that, I'm looking forward to understand is CKD or CBU better for this model. It would be superb if you may suggest me a workshop where I can check the secondhand BMW for potential damages (a BMW specialist, etc). I'm also trying to look out for a good E90 323i with I-Drive as mentioned above, so, is there any secondhand car dealer which I can try out for best results?

Proton Wira Special Edition 1.5 GLi Modification

Dear Sifu(s) / Professional Modifiers / Experienced People(s),

To begin, I have little to no experience as well as not much knowledge on automotive knowledge, thus, I'll do my best to be as constructive and detailed as I am able to. For that, I need help, guides, and advice on what to do, where to do, and best, what is really effective and efficient. I'm looking forward to modify and/or improve my car performance without engine transplant or mounting turbos, going the natural aspiration way. Gearbox transplant however, I may consider.

*Budget / Expenses Will to Commit *
-Modification Purposes = RM5,000 (subject to go for more, if really deemed effective)
-Yearly Maintenance Commitment = RM2,500 (more or less, exclusive of yearly road tax and car insurance)

*Objective of modification - General goal is to have a stock looking car with better under the hood performance *
-Improvement of throttle response and pick up from 0-100 km/h (goal).
-Improvement on hill climbing potential or ability to maintain 60-80 km/h on Karak Highway or Genting path (optional).
-Improvement of fuel consumption (optional).
-Comfortable drive with great tolerance to bumpiness and damping of potholes, etc (goal).
-Comfortable drive at 120 km/h with minimal to no wind noise and road noise (goal).
-Improvement on lesser/minimal car chassis body roll when cornering around 60-80 km/h, nothing more than that (goal).

*My current plan for modification *
-Change stock filter air box to K&N drop-in-air filter.
-Change throttle body to bigger size (probably 52mm to 55mm)
-Add on Ultra Racing strut bar on front 4 point strut tower bar and rear strut bar (maybe middle of the car too).
-Add on sound dampening acoustic material on 4 of my doors and mudguard (3M material film).
-Add on plug and play sound dampening foam on my car bonnet.
-Add on a fuel pressure regulator kit.
-Replacing my body and door rubber lining (8 pieces in total) for a new OEM made ones.
-Replace shock absorber (all of them) to Kayaba shock absorbers (2 front oil, 2 rear gas)
-Replace a bigger cooler water pipe (to withstand further potential heat from my car).
-Replace my copper spark plugs to Iridium grade spark plugs.
-Replace stock crank pulley to lightweighted crank pulley (LCP).
-Retuning my Siemens VDO ECU (donno should I do so, as bad reviews had been seen).

From the above, kindly do feel free to share with me your experience on what may I improve or change to get a better performance and comfortable experience from my ride. It would be better to change a new or another manufacturer car, but this car has sentimental value to me, thus, I want to keep it for self value.
