Good family car under RM200k

What is your pick for a good family car for under 200k? Share your list, experience and thoughts with me. Would love to hear from you guys.

My wish list:
- Can be sedan or SUV
- Fits 2 adults and 1 incoming baby comfortably. Occasionally will need to include mom or FIL for short distance rides.
- 80% city, 20% highway
- Prefer a bit more power over great FC
- Good NVH
- Prefer new over used
- Advance driving assistance stuff is nice to have, but not a must
- Not too crazy maintenance cost
- RV is not a priority since I plan to use it for a long time. Current car is 8 years old.

[WP7] List of useful/good WP7 apps

I am bored and I am free, so let's kick off a useful thread for owners of WP7 phones. It's more productive than just b****ing about the lack of XX, YY or ZZ support/features/apps. Let's all share some of the cool and useful apps for other Malaysian users out there.

Please keep this clean and tidy. I'm recommending an easy format for everyone to submit apps they've found. Since I am volunteering to compile and keep this list fresh and updated, please try to follow the format below.

Type of App:
Name of App:
Price:
Comments:

Sample:

Type of App: Games
Name of App: Fruit Ninja
Price: SG$4.99
Comments: Addictive and fun casual games to kill time. Just swipe finger on screen to 'kill' fruits. Lol. A straight port from of the iOS version (graphics, game types, etc) but with Xbox LIVE achievements!

Type of App: Social
Name of App: Beezz
Price: Free
Comments: Alternative to offcial Twitter app. Supposedly better than the official Twitter app since the latest update has Live Tile support and Toast notifications. However, there are reports that some users do not get the Live Tile and Toast features and I am one of them. Hope the dev will look into that in the next update. In any case, it looks and feels better than the official Twitter app.

For those that don't know, you can easily search for any app in the Marketplace by pressing the SEARCH (magnifying glass button) while in the Marketplace hub. Simple.

Before anyone asks, I am getting my apps from the Singapore Marketplace because that is where my LIVE account is registered. Also, it's fortunate that I have my Malaysian credit card linked to it as well from my Xbox 360 days.

For those that are wondering how to pay for apps on the marketplace, here is a step-by-step guide on how to use your Malaysian credit card. I will use the easiest workaround that I know and can confirm that it works, and that is through the Singapore Xbox Live route. Anyone got anything easier, please feel free to share here. By the way, the only payment method accepted now is through credit card so there is no other alternative. Sorry.

*IMPORTANT: If you already have an existing non-Singapore LIVE account (hotmail), I don't know if you can link a Malaysian credit card to it. Please try to link it first because by creating a new LIVE account, you will lose all your existing contacts and info from your LIVE account such as friends on Messenger, hotmail contacts, etc.

First thing you can do is to go to https://account.live.com, and change your country/region to Singapore. Please key in a real Singapore address with a real postcode in your HOME LOCATION.

After doing so, you can skip straight to step #2.

If you already have an existing Singapore hotmail account, also skip to step #2.

GUIDE TO LINK CREDIT CARD TO SINGAPORE WINDOWS PHONE 7 MARKETPLACE AND BUY APPS IN MALAYSIA!

1. Sign up for a Windows LIVE account (www.hotmail.com) that is registered to a real Singapore address. Go search for a real Singapore post code from the net. It doesn't matter if you don't live there. I don't know if it matters, but select the 'hotmail.com' option

2. Once you've done that, go to www.xbox.com. First thing you do is the change locale at the top left corner from US (by default) to Singapore. Not sure if this matters, but just in case. Then choose the JOIN NOW option at the top right corner.

3. When you are redirected to the type of Xbox Live account page you want, you can opt for the FREE option.

4. In the page where you are required to key in your email, type in the email you've just created. You will then be redirected to a page when you need to key in some basic contact details. Do the necessary. For some strange reason, the month of your birthday selection box will be in Chinese but since its arranged numerically, it's not an issue unless you cannot count to 12. Click I ACCEPT to proceed.

5. In the next page, you can set your 'gamertag' of your choice. A gamertag is your nickname/avatar on Xbox Live. The first time is free so choose wisely. To change your gamertag next time, its 800 MS points or about RM30. After choosing your gamertag, go back to MY ACCOUNT.

6. Under the ACCOUNT INFORMATION option, choose EDIT PAYMENT OPTIONS. In the next page, fill in a real Singapore address you chose earlier and click NEXT.

7. In the next page is where you fill up your Malaysian credit card details. Do the necessary. No need to change the Singapore address you've just keyed in. Click NEXT to proceed.

8. And you're done! Your credit card is now linked to your LIVE account.* Note that if you've created a fresh LIVE account for this, you need to hard reset your phone and tie in the new LIVE account. That also means that all your contacts and info on LIVE (Messenger, hotmail, etc) is gone. Sorry.

*Okay. I have to note that I did not make any transactions to see if my card works with this newly created account. My card (Citibank Visa) works with my existing LIVE account so there should be no reason that it doesn't. So, please report back if this doesn't work ok? No need to complain or b**** about it.

Ok, now I'm kicking this thread off by sharing some of the useful apps I've found. Will add more soon but please help to populate this. Sharing is caring, guys.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Games

Name of App: Fruit Ninja
Price: SG$4.99
Comments: Addictive and fun casual game to kill time. Just swipe finger on screen to 'kill' fruits. Lol. A straight port from of the iOS version (graphics, game types, etc) but with Xbox LIVE achievements!

Name of App: Puzzle Quest 2
Price: SG$10.99
Notes: A Xbox Live game with 200 achievement points. Similar to the Xbox 360 Live Arcade version. Highly recommended if you like a Bejewelled + RPG type game. This game will last you a very long time. Can play as different heroes (Barbarian, Socerer, etc) with spells, weapons and items. Quite addictive.

Name of App: Flight Control
Price: SG$4.99
Comments: Another Xbox Live game. Easy and simple mechanics. Swipe a path for planes and helicopters to land on airports. Looks simple but can be quite hard in later levels. Has a few different airports with different types of game mechanics. Decent game for 4.99.

Name of App: Helicopter
Price: Free
Comments: A simple free game to kill time. Tap/hold screen to keep helicopter flying, release finger and the helicopter will descend. Keep doing that to avoid crashing into ground and obstacles. Simple graphics, but quite addictive. It's nothing great but its a nice free game.

(From marauderz)
Name of App: Project Sunburst
Price: SG$4.99
Comments: Simple tower defense like game... so simple until I don't really know how you lose or fail in this game... guess it's like Pocket God in that aspect. Just for you to keep time if you like tower defense games.

(From blackjoker)
Name of App: Memory Match
Price: Free
Comments: Pass time game especially when you are waiting for someone. back in WM6.5 days, i used to play UNO or Solitaire but WP7 doesnt have it for free. argghh...!

(From blackjoker)
Name of App: Poker Square
Price: Free
Comments: Cool game to kill time

(From Fulat)
Name of App: Pirates Ahoys
Price: Free
Comments: Fruits Ninja alike games but its free

(From marauderz)
Name of App: ilomilo
Price: SG$7.99
Comments: Spatial puzzler, catchy theme song, best graphics on WP7 so far.

Name of App: Spot the Differences
Price: Free
Comments: Exactly like the name suggest, this game requires you to spot the 5 differences between two photos before the time runs out. Can even pinch to zoom in on the photos. Only 18 photos to play in total. Not sure if more photos will be added over time, but it's a something fun to pass time and delete when done.

Entertainment

Name of App: Blue Screen
Price: Free
Comments: Fun app to show an image of the classic BSOD, VGA error screen, Mac error and Disk failure. Nothing much really, but funny to show off to ignorant friends. 'Hey, check it out. Here's the BSOD you are always going on about'

Name of App: IGN
Price: Free
Comments: Must have for gamers. It's a great app for gamers to read articles from IGN on their WP7 phones. Adopting a Metro style UI, you can read news, reviews, upcoming games and watch videos. Looks great visually. Speedy loading times too if you have a good reception.

Music & Video

Name of App: Shazam
Price: Free
Comments: Useful app to know the artist and the name of any song. Just launch the app, put it next to the radio or whatever and it will 'magically' tell you what it is. Needs Internet access. Most of you should know this by now anyways.

Name of App: YouTube (By HTC so for HTC phones only. The app with the YouTube logo against a white background)
Price: Free
Comments: Mobile access to YouTube. I find this better than the native Microsoft YouTube app because it seems to stream faster and have better search results.

(From marauderz)
Name of App: Lazy Worm YouTube
Price: Free
Comments: Download this in addition to the normal YouTube app, this one has a better search and navigation experience.

Photo

Name of App: Thumba Photo Editor
Price: SG$1.59
Comments: Best photo editing app on the WP7 yet. Pretty much does everything you can possibly think of to a photo. Rotate, crop, resize, HDR, adjust contrast, white balance, brightness, exposure and a whole load of other effects. Nicely integrated with the Picture Hubs too. Without a doubt, worth the 1.59.

Name of App: Photobucket
Price: Free
Comments: Mobile app for Photobucket. Duh. Log in to your account to upload your favorite photos on Photobucket. Can also search for photos from Photobucket. Useful app for those that likes/works with photos a lot.

Name of App: PicFx
Price: Free
Comments: A free app offering only 4 photo effects (B&W, Sepia, Tilt Shift and Polaroid). Very basic I know, but nevertheless fun and useful for those that can't get the Photo Enhancer app by HTC or don't want to pay 1.59 for Thumba Photo Editor.

(From Fulat)
Name of App: Imazing
Price: Free
Comments: Image editor allow you to do crop, rotate, and some minor effect on your image.

(From Fulat)
Name of App: DSLR Toolbox
Price: Free
Comments: A tool for DSLR user to measure distance, light and others photography factor where allow them to take a better photos.

Name of App: Apict
Price: Free
Comments: Adds polaroid-style borders to photos or pics. Can add text too. A simple and cool app to inject some fun into pics.

Name of App: FotoChop
Price: Free
Comments: A fun and silly app to add stickers (speech bubbles, mustaches, hats, glasses, bunny ears, etc) to images. Stickers are loaded
online, but limited choices for now. Stickers can be resized and rotated to fit. Not a bad app for a bit of fun with photos.

Name of App: Thumba Cam
Price: Free
Comments: Made by the same developer of the excellent Thumba Photo Editor app, this is an app that allows you to directly add 5 different effects (auto, hdr, lomo, 70's, 3d and soften) to your pics taken with the camera.

Lifestyle

News & Weather

Sports

Health & Fitness

Finance

Travel

Navigation

Social

Name of App: Beezz
Price: Free
Comments: Alternative to offcial Twitter app. Supposedly better than the official Twitter app since the latest update has Live Tile support and Toast notifications. However, there are reports that some users do not get the Live Tile and Toast features and I am one of them. Hope the dev will look into that in the next update. No multiple accounts support. Have to log out to log in to another Twitter account. In any case, it looks and feels better than the official Twitter app.

Name of App: Messenger by Miyowa
Price: Free
Comments: Although I still don't get why WP7 has no native LIVE Messenger support/app, this is a decent alternative until the official one comes out. Latest update can run under lock i believe (i hardly use it on my phone). What else can I say about it? All the usual Live Messenger stuff is all there. I think.

Name of App: Seesmic
Price: Free
Comments: Another alternative to the offical Twitter App. Supports multiple accounts, but not simultaneously.
Gamer's Hideout GXL HALO 3 Recruitment Drive!

On behalf of Gamer's Hideout (and as the interim team manager and chaperon of sorts ), Malaysia's best game shop is looking to sponsor three Halo 3 teams (2v2) to the upcoming GXL competition in Singapore on 15th and 16th December. If you think you got what it takes, head down to Gamer's Hideout at Cineleisure Damansara this Friday night, 2nd of November (from 7pm) for an open tryout. You can come alone or in pairs, but selection will be based on individuals, not teams.

Selection will be based on several criteria, namely:

Skill - You obviously have to be good at the game, but you don't have to be god-like
Teamwork - Since its 2v2, you have to have good communications and teamwork with your partner (whoever it may be)
Sportsmanship - No matter what the end result is, we want the selected individuals to enjoy the experience. No hissy fits or sore losers.

Since GXL hasn't revealed the rules for Halo 3 yet, we will be playing a mixture of maps and game modes for the tryout. We will try to pair everyone in attendance at random. Note that the final selection is at the discretion of Gamer's Hideout. If you pwn everyone there, but you have a terrible attitude, you should know why you were not chosen. Likewise, if you are not the best player on that day but display good sportsmanship, you may just be selected.

Here are some important details for those interested in taking part.

1. Need to have a valid passport (at least 6 months before expiry)
2. Need to be 18 years old and above (for those below 18, it will be considered on a case to case basis)
3. Able to travel to Singapore on 14th, 15th and 16th December
4. Able to attend regular training sessions at Gamer's Hideout (from 4th November onwards. Dates and times TBA)
5. Must be a Gamer's Hideout member (for those that aren't, you can become one before 3rd November)

For the six individuals eventually selected, transportation (bus), lodging and food will be fully sponsored. In the event of any of the selected teams winning any of the prizes, GH will take 30% of the cash prize and donate it to charity (charity organization to be announced later) in the team's and shop's name. At the end of the day, it's about the experience and fun, not the money.

GXL details here!

For more details, go to www.gamershideout.com.my or drop a question here.

Consoul 2007

originally posted here

Consoul 2007

Venue: Area in front of Gamer's Hideout Shop at Cineleisure Damansara
Date: 26th & 27th May - sat & sun (tentative, but more of less confirmed)
Time: 11am to late

What exactly is Consoul 2007? Well, it's Malaysia's first and (hopefully) largest "Bring Your Own Xbox 360" LAN party. Organized by Gamer's Hideout, it will be a chance for you to meet up with other 360 gamers and play against them in the flesh using your own Xbox 360.

Besides that, there is also going to be two tournaments. First of all there is going to be Gears of War tournament (4v4). And then, there is going to be a special Command & Conquer 3 tournament (1v1). Both tournaments will offer very good prizes, I can assure you.

After from that, there is also going to be a Lucky Draw as well offering prizes for all attendees such as a wireless wheel, Live Vision, point cards, faceplate and more!.

Ok, sounds good doesn't it? So, how do you take part?

At this point in time, there are 3 ways to be part of Consoul 2007.

1. Player
- have to bring your own Xbox 360 and display (LCD TV or monitor)
- entry fees: RM29.90
- get a special goodie bag
- get a special mystery gift!
- lunch & dinner for two days (halal)

2. Guest
- don't have to bring your own Xbox 360
- must be registered under a Player (one Player can only bring or register one Guest maximum)
- have to share a 360 with a Player
- entry fees: RM39.90
- get a special goodie bag
- lunch & dinner for two days (halal)

3. GH Player
- don't have to bring your own Xbox 360
- Will be provided a Xbox 360
- entry fees: RM49.90
- get a special goodie bag
- limited to 8 places only!
- during tournament time or any special events though, you have to give up the 360 to the organizers
- lunch & dinner for two days (halal)

Okay, I hope everyone understand how this event is going to work. Read the short FAQI whipped up below for more info.

Q: I'm interested in bringing my own Xbox 360 to the event but why do I have to bring my own LCD monitor/TV?
A: Unfortunately, loaning a large amount of LCD monitors or TV needed for this event is almost impossible. The only way to make this event a reality is to have you guys bring your own display as well.

Q: I have no problems bringing my Xbox 360 and LCD TV but I'm worried about the security.
A: The event area will be off limits to non-participants. Participants will be identified by a tag and anyone without this tag will not be allowed to enter the event area. During the day, we'll have marshals keeping an eye for any itchy hands but please do your part by keeping an eye on your own stuff as well. For those that wish to leave their consoles or display overnight, the stuff will be stored inside the GH shop.

Q: What's included in the entry fees?
A: It includes a goodie bag. The contents of the goodie bag has not been finalized but it should include a T-shirt, official Xbox 360 merchandise, C&C 3 merchandise and more. The total value will be more than the entry free for sure.

The entry fee also includes automatic entry to both the GOW and C&C 3 tournament. You can choose not to take part if you wish.

Q: What's this mystery gift for people that are bringing their own Xbox 360 and display?
A: It's a very special gift and something of value in return for the hassle. It's also something that money can't buy. We don't want to spoil it for you guys but you'll find out on that day itself.

Q: How does the Lucky Draw work?
A: Irregardless if you are a Player, Guest or GH Player, you will be eligible for the Lucky Draw. On Sunday evening, we will do the draw.

Q: What are the rules for the GOW/C&C 3 tournament?
A: For GOW, we'll be following the WCG rules. For C&C 3, its also the WCG rules. go to www.worldcybergames.com to read them.

Q: My Xbox 360 is modded, can I bring it to the event?
A: Unfortunately no, even if all your games are original. This is an event for original gamers only. We will check on the event day if the consoles are modded or otherwise. if you are unsure, please call GH for advice.

Q: How many players will there be in total?
A: We are targeting a maximum of 32 players that will be bringing their own Xbox 360 and display. GH has additionally 8 Xbox 360s of their own, so in total, there could be about 40 gamers.

Q: What is this nonsense about bring your own Xbox 360 and display? Can't you guys provide them?
A: If you know anyone that can provide 32 Xbox 360s WITH LCD monitors, please get in touch with us. We'll gladly assist them organize this event.

Q: Can i bring my handheld game consoles there as well? Especially my pink psp.
A: Sure, go ahead, if you feel that at one point in time that you'll be bored of playing with the 360. But as a show of respect, ori only please.

Q: I can't participate in the event but can I come on one of the days?
A: You can drop by anytime you like to check out the event but you cannot take part in any of the activities (tournaments, lucky draws, etc). If there are any GH 360s available, you can use them to play with other players, but you certainly cannot use any of the player's 360. Besides, you won't be allowed in the LAN party area (where all the player's 360s are) unless you get special permission from us anyway.

Q: What games can I bring to the event and play with my friends?
A: Any game you like, just as long as the game discs are ori. There will be periods in between the tournaments where you guys will have free time. During these free and easy periods you'll have the chance to go up against other players in whatever multiplayer games you like. For the benefit of everyone, here are some games that are popular and make for good multiplayer matches. If you have them, you can bring them along. To make things even simpler, you guys can also agree beforehand what games you guys want to play there.

1. Gears of War (duh!)
2. C&C 3
3. Lost Planet
3. PGR 3
4. Rainbow Six Vegas
5. GRAW 2
6. Virtua Tennis
7. Barbie Horse Adventures
8. Call of Duty 3
9. Halo 2
10. Winning Eleven X
11. Dead or Alive 4
12. FIFA 2007 / UEFA
13. Fight Night Round 3
14. Def Jam Icons
15. NBA Street Homecourt
16. etc, etc, etc

Q: Okay, so I'm confirmed to join the GOW and C&C 3 tournament, do i have to bring the game discs along on those two days as well?
A: Yes. But if you don't have the game(s), we'll try to provide them for you guys but don't take us for granted. We have limited copies and we can't cater for everyone. If we run out of them, you'll probably need to borrow it from another
player.

Q: I'm interested in joining the GOW/C&C 3 tourney, can come on that day and take part?
A: No, the tournaments are reserved for participants of Consoul 2007 only. You can either join as a Player, Guest or GH player. Sorry, no exceptions.

Okay, that's all the important details I can think of. If anyone else has more questions, drop them here and I'll try to answer them whenever I can.

so guys, show your support and let's make this event a great success!!!

For list of gamers taking part so far, please see here

We have allocated 1 hour for everyone to register and setup their gear. We intend to start at 11.30am.

If you arrive late, then we'll have to start late and that means less playing time for you guys. So, don't be late ya.

Added info:

26th, Saturday - Start: 10.30am, End: 12am
27th, Sunday- Start: 11am, End: 10.30pm

PS: For players, please remember to bring the necessary like your AV/power cables, controllers, games, etc. For GH players, please remember to bring the games that you want to play with others.

Again here's another friendly reminder, please ensure that your 360 is not modded (for Players) and your games are not the pirated kind. Those violating these two important rules will be politely escorted out of the event - or with force if necessary.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a gentle reminder for all peeps that pre-registered here for Consoul 2007.

you guys got till Sunday left to pay up at GH (or bank in or whatever). Please do so ASAP, especially the Players. Players get a mystery gift and this gift has to be CUSTOMIZED. We're getting them done on Monday, so... hurry up.

If you cannot make it, please let us know early so that we can open the space for other people who have express interest. Don't be selfish and wait till 10pm on Sunday to let us know that you cannot make it. You guys pre-registered here and that's half a Yes already. There are other people interested and we said no to them because you pre-registered here.

So, be responsible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok guys, registration is now open. From today (14th) until this sunday (20th), you can go to GH to CONFIRM your spot in Consoul. If you dont go to GH to fill up the registration form and pay up, we cannot secure your spot. This list here is just a pre-registration remember. Those that do not do so by this Sunday (20th), your spot will be given away to other people.

For those that can't make it to GH this entire week, please call GH up and let them know of your situation. You can fill up the form by email and bank in the money or arrange something with them. Basically, you need to call GH to sort it out!

Now for something really important. Consoul 2007 is strictly an original event only. That means NO MODDED CONSOLES & PIRATED GAMES!

for those that pre-registered in this list here, please ensure that you adhere to the two important rules above. checks will be made on the first day to ensure that your machines are not modded. If your machine is found to be modded, you will not be allowed to join the event and there are NO refunds. When we say modded, it only applies to firmware mods. cooling and whatever cosmetic mods are fine.

If indeed your machine is modded and you are unsure of what you are to do, again please contact GH for advice and further instructions.

Pirated games are also a big no no. we will not check your bags or anything, but if we do spot anyone using pirated games, you'll be asked politely to pack up your stuff and leave the event area. NO refunds again.

for you Guest players, please let me know here which Player you will come under for our records purposes. It's important.

okay, thats all the important updates for now. So guys, get yourself registered and we'll see you on that day!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For C&C 3, its TBC.

A: You can drop by anytime you like to check out the event but you cannot take part in any of the activities (tournamentsm lucky draws, etc).

If we run out of them, you'll probably need to borrow it from another player.

If anyone else has more questions, drop them here and I'll try to answer them whenever I can.

btw, i will doing up a list of those that are interested in bringing their own xbox 360 and display. please drop your name in this thread if you are sure that you can. It will be easier for us to organize the event.

so guys, show your support and let's make this event a great success!!!

Those bringing their own Xbox 360 and display (32 player max)
(name in blue CONFIRMED!)

1. mav3tan
2. syuji
3. mymistaman
4. quaker my @ alkt da noob
5. It will be for the public to try and i need 2 guys to take care of it.

the scope of this job is simple. you'll need to:

1. take care of the console and controllers.
2. explain to the public the controls and how you the play the game.
3. run a mini competition and determine the winner.

the pay is RM100 per day.

those interested, please PM me or drop a note here and i'll give you the details. first come, first served ya.

edit #1
although i stated first come, first served, preference will be given to those that are familiar operating the xbox 360.

thats the reason why i posted this here.

Hi guys,

this may sound a bit silly, but i want to know if your xbox 360 is modded or unmodded.

although i can't reveal my reasons for having this poll, all i can say that its very important to me, and possibly to you guys as well if you want to see the 360 officially in Malaysia.

I hope everyone answers honestly (since its going to an anoymous polling anyway) ya?

Pre-registration for BF2 CELgames 06 tourney

hi guys,

After much consideration and feedback from the posts in LYN, I've decided to do a small pre-registration for Battlefield 2 @ CELgames 06.

The reason for doing so is for me to gauge the number of teams interested in participating. So, if any BF2 teams are really interested in taking part in CELgames 06, put down the name of your team now.

It will be a 8v8 format.

I like to highlight that this pre-registration thingy is very important for me for various reasons. I urge everyone to spread the word and get those interested to put their name down here.

I will reveal more about the tournament once i get everything in order.

thx.

Update #1
the format will be more of less 8v8 now since quite a few of you guys are against 5v5.

SG teams are allowed to put down their names here but whether they can actually play or not, its still undecided. So guys, lets be civil to each other now.

Hold on to your helmets. I believe by the end of this week, all will be revealed. remember to check the website for details. www.gamers.com.my/celgames06

*check the next post for the latest list of teams

update #2

Most of you guys will probably know the whole deal by now, but for those who don't, here are some things you should know.

- BF2 will ONLY be played at Plaza Low Yat on 24 (sat) & 25 (sun) Nov.

- Entry fees is RM15 per person and the team leader will register for the whole team at www.gamers.com.my/celgames06

- For team leaders, don't worry about the lack of space for subs in the registration forms. If so happen that your registered player can't make it on the day, just let us know who will be replacement on the day itself.

- Its 8v8

- Although the website says 8 teams max, we will try to accomodate all teams assuming there is more than 8 team participating.

- Deadline for registration is one week before 24 Nov!

- The prize list is on the website

- The Singaporean teams can join, and they are expected to come, so you Malaysians better train hard. I'm rooting for you guys!

Battlefield 2 tourney @ CELgames 2006

Hi guys,

This is Blake from GameAxis Malaysia.

First of all, I wish to apologize to all BF2 freaks in Malaysia because GameAxis hasn't been showing you guys much love. But to make up for it, here is a piece of good news.

For the first time ever, GameAxis' CELgames this year will feature a BF2 compy!

Details are a bit sketchy at the moment and but here's what I can share with you guys.

Date: Detween 20 to 26 November 2006.
Format: 8v8 and/or 2v2
Prizes: Cash and/or prizes for the entire team
Locations: Plaza Low Yat
Entry Fees: RM20 per person
Goodie bags: T-shirts, caps, etc etc (still working out the details)

I hope that is good enough for you guys. BTW, if everything goes according to plans, we might just fly down teams from Singapore as well! Then, the BF2 tourney will be more like a invitational/exhibition tourney. Keep your fingers crossed.

But now I have a favor to ask from you guys.

Can all the BF2 clan leaders in LYN contact me? I need to speak to you guys urgently. Please drop an email to blake (at) gameaxis.com with your contact number and I will contact you guys ASAP.

As for the others, if you have questions, post them here and I will try my best to answer them.

Majulah e-Sukan Untuk Negara

Show off your stuff in GameAxis!

a big hi to everyone artistically inclined here at LYN,

my name is Blake and I run a humble local gaming magazine called GameAxis Malaysia.

GameAxis is primarily a magazine about video games but it does ocassionally cover other aspects of popular culture such as movies, toys and fashion.

I have to admit that the magazine is not that great compared to other foreign gaming magazines available in Malaysia, but at least we're local. Our content is very local as our articles are written from a Malaysian gamer's point of view.

As part of our plans to provide more local content to our readers, we're planning to start a section dedicated to art related to video games.

It's very simple really. Any graphic student/professional or anyone can submit their work to the magazine and the most interesting artwork will get publish every month, along with a photo and a little description of the artist.

The medium can be any format, digital or otherwise. It can be pixel art, vector art, animation, illustrations, graffiti, stencils, photographs, oil, crayon, etc. My only request is it that the theme has to be video games.

There is no payment for all artwork submitted but I will try my best to give the chosen artist of the month a small token of appreciation like a copy of a game, a goodie bag, etc.

If you want your work to be seen by the magazine's 20,000 readers every month, here are the details on how to submit your work.

1. Send all artwork to blake (at) gameaxis.com, together with your full name and contact number. Please try to include a short description about your submitted work like how did you get the inspiration to do it or why did you do it.
2. Please put the subject "For GameAxis Art Section" in your email.
3. All artwork must be 300dpi in resolution and A4 in size. This includes jpg, scans, psd, ai, etc files.

Please submit all entries by 20th June 2006.

If you have any enquiries, do email me at blake (at) gameaxis.com. I'll be more than glad to answer your questions.

kthxbai.
