[URGENT] My father blacklisted by Maxis

Hi, i'm asking on behalf of my father...

I know that my dad & myself are stupid because we ignored this problem for about 2 years.

My father just realised that he has blacklisted by Maxis after a redONE agent told my father that he had blacklisted by Maxis (since 2013) way back in 2014. At that time, he ported his Celcom number to redONE (with RM50 fee because he is blacklisted).

My father was subscribed to Maxis Broadband (you know, that mobile broadband) since 2010 until he terminated the service in 2012. He terminated it at a Maxis shop.

What should my dad do? He scared that he need to pay a huge amount to Maxis because of this.

Gov might open up internet market

SOS
Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said Putrajaya may open up the Internet service provider market to allow prices to be determined by market forces.

Salleh said this when asked about how he plans to deal with the Internet services being rolled out by providers that have not been very affordable.

"In most countries they allow open market competition to determine the prices. Closed markets, monopolies, or cartels, never benefit the consumer.

"So we may have to open up the Malaysian market and allow market forces to decide the cost of the Internet.

"It works in Europe, so that may be what we will need to do in Malaysia. That is what globalisation is all about anyway, a borderless world," he told Malaysiakini in an email interview.

Salleh emphasised on the need for affordability, reiterating that it would be useless if better Internet speeds are offered at cost that is beyond consumers' reach.

Several Internet service providers have begun rolling out high speed Internet, with at least 20Mbps, but prices have been in the region of RM170 and upwards.

In a related matter, Salleh said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is aware of issues faced by consumers of ABN Xcess, a digital cable provider which is reportedly facing financial difficulties.

He said MCMC is dealing with the outages and service disruptions by ABN diligently and has resolved 121 out of 122 complaints against the company.

"Action has been taken against ABN, which includes a warning for failing to resolve consumer complaints and issuance of notice for immediate rectification plans.

"MCMC will also be assessing its performance for the year ending 31st December 2015," he said.

ABN has been in the spotlight as it secured a RM450 million loan from Bank Pembangunan Negara, which is wholly-owned by the Finance Ministry.

Question: Is this related to TPPA?

This website crashes Safari and & reboots iPhone

SOS: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016...-anyones-iphone

Following the fun users had with the “effective power” iPhone text message bug, people have been sending a link to users of Apple’s Safari browser that will crash their iPhones or Macs.

The link, which is simply crashsafari.com, overloads the default browser with a self-generating text string which populates the address bar. After about 20 seconds or so it will force an iPhone to reboot, while significantly heating up as the smartphone tries to handle the code of the site.

A similar thing happens on iPads, which also has Safari, while even Android devices running Chrome heat up and become sluggish. Rebooting the iPhone or quitting Chrome on an Android device clears the problem.

Desktop and laptop computers are also affected to a lesser degree depending on how much processing power they contain. The site will cause Safari on a Mac to crash. Chrome on a Mac and PC also becomes bogged down.

The code of the website appears to generate an ever-increasing string of characters, which becomes harder and harder for the browser to load, likely resulting in a memory issue and forcing the reboot of the device.

As with the effective power text message bug, users have started sending the link disguised by URL shorteners with tempting text to get iPhone users to click on the link and crash their smartphones.

For the immediate future, iPhone users should be very careful about which shortened or obfuscated links they click on, should they be forced into rebooting their smartphone. One of the shortened links has already been clicked over 100,000 times.

Should the worst happen, it appears that smartphones will behave normally after a reboot.

My laptop ran into issue.

Hi,

I have overclocked my laptop's GPU (AMD Radeon HD8670M) using Sapphire Trixx. It is running fine for 2-3 days. I have bought fan cooler to cool down the laptop.

When I was playing a game, suddenly a bsod appears with "thread stuck in device driver". After my laptop restarts, Windows prompts me for installing GPU drivers. I clicked at yes/ok then i restarted Windows.

But, there will be a popup that says "Your system settings has changed. Please restart your computer to take effect." at EVERY startup. I fixed this by simply reinstalling the driver from AMD website.

The question is:
1. Why this problem happened?
2. How do I prevent this from happening again?
