Crankshaft Timing Gear Loose.

Hi guys, i have 1 unit of crankshaft from a 4g18 that has what seems to be a loose timing belt gear. may i know if the timing gear is a pressed fit or a blanced fit for the 4g18. The gear can slide on the crankshaft and can be turned very sightly. The mechanic who had it changed said that this was a problem. and nothing can be done. ( caused the tming to run due to belt jumping when the gear moves a little)

Question is.

1. is ther a fix for this? remachine crank and custom gear? or use Loctite?

Hi guys, i had recently put on KIMEX springs on my proton saga 1st gen. the issue is the cars has a NGV tank in the back making the ride sink below where i want it, Had to put in those buffers in to keep it from touching the wheel wells.

The Question is,

should i change the spring rubber mount to a bigger 1 (there is such a thing ?),
change to OEM LMST springs which are 20mm lower than my OEM springs
or get diffrent aftermarket springs?

Hi guys, i am about to embark on a big big project for my precious saga orion. Need some advice on the soundproofing.

i plan to do a raammat + insuflex combo. Need advice on where to place what. was thinking raamat + insuflex on doors and roof, rest of car only insuflex. Hoe is this? i really dont know much on the whole soundproof thingy and how it works. What does the two materials do and how do they differ?

another thing when i do the doors, do i place inside or outside, or both ? sorry if it sounded silly

I also have seen people stuffing foam into the doors, is this effective\ advisable?

Guys i couldn't find and comparison thread, so here goes; I'm planning to get into the IT field but would like some counseling on which uni and courses are available? I liked the Concept of SWINBURN where we can pick and match subjects to study... like can mix multimedia and network IT (something like that) problem is this UNI is at Kuching. Ok so i bought this new mobo a couple of months back to dump 2 gigs of DDR 677 mhz and obtain a PCI- E slot for my aging P4 2.4 Prescott "A" (533Mhz). Everything is great except for some weird reason i find the OCing on ths board is damn useless... My old Abit Board can OC to 3.2Ghz no prob .. this board fail b4 reach 3.0 Ghz .. why is this/ is it the DDR2 or the Boards Capability? All comments Welcome

Hey guys.. i plan to build a rig for basic home use.. urm looking at budget of 1.5 - 2k include everything monitor keyboard n ect.. basic use like office processing n internet usage. lite games here and there n some music i guess..

what i got planned so far..

AMD althlon X2 5200
Gigabyte mobo (the 780 chipset 1)
2gb RAM
DVD sata drive
320/500GB HDD
logitech ex100 combo mouse n keyboard
casing, monitor need recommendation
did i miss anything

oh yea i would also like a wireless modem and dongle combo.. if use pci chip better?
My budget is very very tight here so plan to squeeze as much as possible

Last thing here, if the same budget without monitor what specs would i be looking at, comparison of the two is much appreciated

Guys, i was snooping around in my PC cases and noticed something awkward... my p4 RIG has a HEC brand PSU with total load of 300Watt +12 rail at 15A <--- Normal cap Ayam PSU however my celeron rig has a 400Watt PSU no name or LOGO on the sticker but it has a +12v rail or 17A... Now dunno which PSU is the better one Dun have any amp meter to test

BTW, the Cooler Master eXtreme series good enough? Cuz wanna upgrade my old rig,

My old PSU could over clock my old system, to 3GHZ but must unplug one cdrom, 1HDD and 2 FAN if not unstable or wont start 1 .. no GPU also that time what 2 do its a 300Watt after all .....

Can recommend a cheap n good PSU for my upgrade RIG ar cuz sure need to junk that old PSU when the GPU come...

Windows XP repair FAILING

My dads laptop had an error pci.sys missing..

so i decided to do a repair install of xp, the problem is it keeps saying please insert the winxp sp3 disk because a file is missing and it cant locate it.. What do i do now.

i now need suggestions for a cpu cooler to push that E8400 to 3.6GHz maybe 4.2
what would be cheap and sufficient.
also recommendation for a RAM cooler

The GPU there is it better if i get a 4850GS, TOXIC? which is the best OCed version of the 4850 ( i don't plan to OC it on my own. bios n pencil mod too much hassle )

So looking at the spec above, what difference would the OCed processor and GPU bring about in terms of performance in games? is it worth the money getting the cooling components? or just stick with stock?

Oh yea i want air cooling solution only .. cant afford water cooling

hey guys .. I'm looking for an AMD based gaming rig, urm here goes

1. Budget is about 3.5k give or take including monitor
2. Complete system nothing will be reused
3. Purpose is gaming and multimedia content (Video editing, Photoshop ect .. )
- 3a. Must be able to play COD4, crysis and such
- 3b. I would like to go MAX setting on the latest games if possible
4. Purchase date is after SPM.. urm early January 2009 maybe

So far im looking at

-AMD phenom x4
-AMD 790 Chipset
-2gb Value ram
-500GB s-ata HDD
- A HD4850 or HD4870 (recommend pros n cons on these cards please)
-PSU need recomendation
-Casing aso need recomendation ( if can got good cable management)
- some 22' monitor
- logitech gaming combo

i think over my budget edi ..

Oh yea 1 more thing this rig must hav a good resale value,
i plan use 1 year thn sell n upgrade to slightly better system.

guys planning to get a new rig sometime soon, so far heres what i could think of

Cooler Master 550 watt

what you guys thing about the above specs ok or not. is there better specs for a rig around the same price 2.5k-ish.. BTW is it advisable to get the combo MOBO for future upgrade?

Hi guys,

I need some advice on my home network.

my current setup;

i got [1] Acer laptop (wireless b/g only), [1] desktop PC (quite old edi like 4-5 yrs, runnig p4, 512, on-board VGA, 80 GB WD HDD IDE,160GB MAXTOR -ATA), a D-LINK DIR-300 router and a wireless dongle (cheap D-LINK 1 attached to the desktop)

so with the setup above just std file and printer sharing nothing more.

What i am looking for;

1) A media center PC for the living room can hook up to my astro max, need help on the specs. like what tv tuner and gc to use, currently got a 32' panasonic tv flat screen crt, but posibility of a HD LCD in the future is possible( So must be HD ready)

2) Turn my old rig stated above into a NAS (possible without mods or better to buy a stand alone NAS)

3) a new rig for the family with a medium gaming capacity ( can run fairly new games at max, hopefully)

So my basic idea is to connect the media PC and NAS directly to the DIR-300 and have the gaming rig and laptop wirelessly connected. The main question is how fast would the data be able to stream from one pc to the other in wireless mode (for example from the laptop to the NAS). I currently lag when streaming video from the laptop to the desktop would this still be the case. i so how to overcome it.

really appreciate any advice.
