Hello desktop customizers!

I've recently started an open source wallpaper sharing community called Wallgig in early December out of boredom at university. It currently has over 800+ members and 45k wallpapers on the website (and counting!).

Unlike other wallpaper sites, I focused more on the searching and filtering of tags, categories and colors. I'm pushing new features almost everyday when I have the time!

Hello!

I've recently started an open source wallpaper sharing community called Wallgig in early December out of boredom at university. It currently has over 800+ members and 45k wallpapers on the website (and counting!).

I thought this would be a good place to share about my pet project and hopefully interested people are able to learn from it! It is written in Ruby on Rails and is running on a PostgreSQL database. I'm using Elasticsearch for the powerful search functionality. The app is running on a dedicated server and is provisioned using Chef.

From this project, I learned a lot about writing apps that scales well with the amount of content generated by users. I also learned how to manage a global community as well as pushing out code many times during the day with almost zero downtime using Capistrano.

hey guys. i can't decide on which notebook to get. basically, i need a laptop with okay graphics. i'll be using it to do some photoshop, web programming, and playing some games (low-medium settings is fine with me). i don't mind about the battery life, but one that has a longer life would be preferable.

How to use TnG for RapidKL bus?

i used the TnG for the putra line - no problem. but when i use it on the bus, the driver said must do 'something' at the counter in the lrt station. i lazy to go there again so i just paid with cash. so can anyone tell me what do i have to do at the counter? must activate or something? must pay?

oh i heard last time that if u use TnG, they will charge a maximum of RM 3 per day. is this still going on or are there any other rebates?

code editor for web development?

i was wondering, what kind of code editor do you use for web development? there's many good ones like TextMate but it's not free and it's expensive ><. i primarily code in PHP, Ruby ( & Rails ), so highlighting and auto completion support must be good ( must have code bundles or snippets ). i do not want any IDE, i think they're way too slow and bloated. im currently using VIM but i don't think it's pretty (hehe). so, are there any other suggestions?

i have this 9800gtx card that occupies 2 spaces. i was wondering, the metal part where u need to screw to the casing is slightly slanting (means its not 90 degrees). i noticed that the graphic card board near the metal part is slightly bent. issit suppose to be like this? i'll take a picture if u want.

hi, i'm going to get the XFX GF 9800 GTX graphic card with intel C2D and i was wondering, what chipset on the mobo should i be getting?

the P35 without PCI-2.0 or the X38/X48 with PCI-2.0? will 2.0 effect the graphic performance?

help! i have this razer copperhead mouse. whenever i left click or single click, it'll register as a double click! anyone having or experienced this problem b4? i searched around b4 and some ppl also have this problem. but they didnt tell the solution. can i still claim warranty? its 11 months old. bought it at ATE in Low Yat.

hi i need some1 to help me solve this problem. for example, i have a table called 'Articles' and another called 'Categories'. both of them get linked up with 'Article_categories' table (article_id, category_id).

let say got 1 article (id: 1) categorized in Music (id: 1) and General (id: 2).

how can i search for similar articles based on the categories?

basically, i dont want to search for a single category (WHERE category_id = x). instead, i want to search multiple categories. anyone can help me?

hi guys! i'm interested to create an anime db site where you can read and update your favourite anime. each anime has info about them and characters aswell. every anime series and characters will get their own discussion board. erm i'm planning to add a photo/scans/wallpaper board aswell. anyone interested to contribute once i've coded everything up? if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

hi. im currently using streamyx 512kbps package. im getting speed of 50-60kb/s torrent. now i wan to upgrade. upgrade to 1mbps or others? which one worth it? why? i scared if i upgrade they put throttle >.< (yes or no?).
