Mahkota Cheras | Sg Long Property Appreciation

Hi All
Would appreciate some opinion on investing in Mahkota Cheras. There are new developments in the area mostly for 2 storey link houses that will start at 450k onwards.
Do you think based on the current situation:

a) Jusco Opening in April 2010
b) Large demographic of Chinese Residents

Will the property appreciation will continue?

How about developments in Sg Long, it takes just 5 minutes to cross over to Mahkota Cheras area, would these areas benefit as well?

Anyone has experience buying a 400k-500k house for investment, how long does it take before we can sell? In Mahkota Cheras some of the new development has gone up by 100k-150k within 1 year or less of completion.

Suggestion On How to use old IDE Hard Drives

Hi.. Guys,
Just upgraded my current rig to 1.3TB of SATA HDD. After a clean up i discovered i have the following HDD

a) 13GB Quantum Fireball
b) 40GB Seagate Barracuda
c) 80GB Maxtor Diamond Max

all of the above are IDE's.

Any idea how to make best use of them??

I was thinking to convert them to USB HDD but you can get a 1TB Maxtor USB HDD for RM 325 nowadays so not sure if thats the best way to go.
Any ideas appreciated. Please share what you guys did with the old HDD.

Random shutdown for AMD 780G motherboard

Hi All,
Need your help on this issue with my current rig which randomly shutdown after a game of Unreal Tournament 3 or Half Life Episode 2. It has shutdown before suddenly when i was just using MS Word. I am not an avid gamer but it worries me when i use this PC mainly for work and would not like it to shutdown halfway typing into a word file or excel file.

I used to think it was caused by hybrid crossfire but it shutdown regardless whether i enabled or disabled this in my Catalyst Command Center.

I was wondering if an overheated processor could be the cause of this and would like to seek all your advise.

My rig is as follows :

OS : Vista Home Premium OEM
AMD X 2 5400+ Brisbane ( 2.8 Mhz Dual Core) with stock AMD Fan
2Gb Kingston Ram
Gigabyte MA78GM-2SH Bios Rev F4
160GB SATA Seagate HDD
Sapphire 3400 Graphic Card with 256MB Ram
450W Cooler Master True Power
Centurion 590 Casing ( 3 fans built in).
( AMD Cool and Quiet Disabled, all fans running at full speed)

It is being used in a room with no aircond and no direct fan blowing at it. I usually keep my PC switched on for 6-9 hours straight.

Please advise what i should do next?

I am planning either to get a new CPU Fan and heatsink or get an additional fan for my case. Not sure which is the better choice.

Retrieving Data from a Notebook Harddisk

Dear Bros,
My notebook M2000 failed recently. I have sent the notebook to HP Service Center which they have informed me that the entire mainboard needs to be replaced.

As i did not purchase the HP Extended Warranty i did opt to get it replaced but i just paid the service charges and collected my notebook back.

My notebook has a lot of personal data ( financial/photos/documents).The OS is windows xp home.

How can i extract the data out when the notebook has failed.Someone told me that i can take out the notebook hdd and plug it to an external hdd casing.They said i can connect it to my desktop home pc and copy my files out.

Is that possible when i have a password for my user login in windows xp home?

Please help!!!

Power Adapter Failure for HP M2019AP

Hi guys, my HP M2000 notebook power adapter failed this evening. As far as i know HP doesn't work on Saturday and i need to get a replacement soon coz i have some work to complete.

By the time i reached lowyat, most of the HP shops were closed but the 3rd party parts seller told me there was none left and a second hand parts seller quoted me a second hand replacement unit for RM 130.00.

Is this a fair price and can i buy the power adapter from the HP Shops ( MTCS Distributor)?

I intend to go again tomorrow morning to Lowyat.

The power adapter cost Rm 190 ( original from MTCS).
Reginex has a unit about Rm 180 and the second hand shop can get you one for RM 130.

All the units above have 3 months warranty.

A kind Low Yat Forummer has offered one for RM 150.00 which is quite good.

Pressing the Power Button for one minute with the battery out and the power adaptor disconnected will release the static from your notebook.This is provided by the HP Call Center which i called.
