Hello everyone, I would like to ask if notice period counts before starting date. The reason I am asking this is because I have a friend currently in dilemma because she has accepted a job offer but received a better offer from a different company and that is the job that she wanted.

The previous job offer that she accepted states that she will be fined for 1 month salary if she break the contract. Her starting date is on 7th of September, and the notice period in her job offer is 2 weeks. So if she told the HR she would want to quit the job today, will she be fined for breaking the contract? Does notice period counts before job starting date? Sifus please guide.

Hello forumers, I have just graduated in Chemical Engineering and managed to land myself a job as a prod & process engineer in downstream oleochemical processing. If I would like to change industry in the future, e.g. to join the petrochemical industry, would it be difficult since I don't have any experience in the field? I saw on Jobstreet alot of companies required specific job experience to enter to the specified chemical engineering industry.

Unifi Connection Problem (VIP 50)

Dear forumers, recently I am having an issue of disconnecting once every 1-3 hours and it lasts for 1-2 mins.

Although the Wifi status of my laptop is showing full bar of connection, actually it does not have connection to the internet. Sometimes it get even worse, when the no access to internet with a warning sign showed beside the wifi connection icon.

Anyone is experiencing the same issue or anyone knows why is this happening? Is it the problem of modem or Unifi problem? Although it only disconnects for few minutes, but it is extremely annoying when I am playing multiplayer online games.

Currently using Unifi 50Mbps Plan.

Sifus please help me to solve my problem!

I know the title seems impossible in the present, but what would be the best option out there? (Please remember the word budget )

In my opinion, the Asus S510U seems like a good choice. But unfortunately, they do not offer i7-8250U+MX150 combo. Will there be this option in the future?

If got this option (i7-8250U+MX150), I think this laptop will be the best budget ultrabook that can do light gaming. Do you agree?

Replacement for lost library book

May I know how does the policy of replacement for lost library book works in our country?

The story goes like this, I have lost a library book in my university and the book is in 3rd edition (1999). The librarian insists me to replace it with the newest edition (2015) and she says that this is the policy running in libraries in our country. Is this true?

I feel it is very unfair for me to buy the newest edition book to replace the older edition that I have lost. The price difference in it is so great and the book that I have lost is in a sooo bad condition.

Any opinions on how to solve this issue? Should I buy the newest edition? Is there any better ways to solve this issue? It will be great if some librarian gives me some advice on it.

Hello sifus, my friend is interested in buying this product(Acer Aspire E5-575G), does this laptop come with a M.2 Slot for an additional SSD?

I searched the internet, some says yes and some says no, dunno who to listen.

Later, I found this laptop on amazon US (E5-575G-53VG), this model has an M.2 Slot occupied with SSD and a 2.5" Empty HDD Slot,
But this model is different from the one selling in Malaysia.

So, does it has a M.2 Slot for SSD Upgrade?

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum. Im still quite new here so please bear with me...

Basically, i'm having a dilemma on choosing 3 laptops, as below:

All 3 of them have FHD screen, personally i'd prefer asus one because it can be used as a tablet but i've heard that there is some issue with the screen brightness ( the screen is quite dark, average brightness only around 150 cd/m2 ), and the screen is very reflective too (glossy). Lenovo U41-70 seems nice too because it has full ssd hard drive, and 256gb is enough for me, but the bad things is about the gpu, only gt 920m, seems not good enough. Lenovo Z51-70 seems to have the best specs here, but is amd gpu reliable??

I wish to have a good laptop for viewing movies and playing games at good display and fps. Usually, i play games like dota 2, but if i have a better laptop, i would like to try newer games like GTA V, skyrim, etc etc

So what do you think guys?? Im having a dilemma now...

Feel free to give me any other recommendation, my budget is below RM 3,500.
